Chapter 27 - Three Terrugas?

Water was very annoying, even for a mammoth who could withstand this colder, underground temperature. In this case it wasn't only annoying, but also worrying.

Once Gustav fell through the hole which Terruga had opened up, he plunged into a large pool of water. It came utterly unexpected, so naturally it wasn't as easy to handle it!

"For fuck's sake! What's all this water even doing down here?" He complained.

It took a while to swim up to the surface, as he wasn't exactly light-weight. The mouthfuls of water he swallowed, got him excruciatingly mad as well.

Gustav felt even more vengeful now, and searched for the enemy. It wasn't difficult to find a monster who emitted its own light, and in this case, the target was just about twenty meters away.

This was the first thing he saw while he tried to make sense of things, so he decided to pour his rage towards it!

"Why aren't you dead yet?" He snorted, and started shooting ahead.

There wasn't much left of this monster, as its numerous arms were burned down into nothingness, thanks to the alien weaponry. A single blast could stretch around two-feet wide, and it didn't typically stop after the first collision!

This weapon was efficient, so it wasn't a surprise how he knocked the 'blood roots' down from this huge cavern's walls, and saw how its light diminished.

He almost caused another collapse when the light-beams hit the wall, but thankfully nothing drastic happened.

"Finally... it's dead." Gustav celebrated.

He wanted to understand these creatures, but sometimes the best idea was to destroy everything in sight, for survival's sake.

He remained vigilant, even after this monster was destroyed. This was advantageous now, because the waters weren't as calm as he expected.

Although Gustav was heavy himself, there wasn't much one could do against a larger body of water. He felt how the waters suddenly shifted, and started following a singular current.

That was unusual because this was supposed to be a pool of water, or a cavern filled with it at least. It didn't make much sense for these waters to move, unless something intense was brewing!

"Ah shit," The good man grunted.

The waters pulled him along, and moved him enough to help get another point of view. When he got a good sense of just how big this cavern was, he was staggered.

"Though I killed that thing, what's it doing over there now?" Gustav asked himself.

He noticed that the other side of the cavern was lit up, nearly fifty meters away. This was odd, because Terruga's remains weren't supposed to be that far away!

Even if it floated over there, he really doubted that a dead beast would lit up. He saw how the last bit of light of those 'blood roots' dimmed, so this sudden sight was nothing less than baffling!

It didn't help when the waters dragged him deeper in the cave's darker sides. On this side, he couldn't even see his own tusks, and nonetheless make sense of what was happening over fifty-meters away!

"Can't let that thing fight me here, I'll drown." Gustav muttered, and tried to push against the water's currents.

He preserved that alien blaster, and wanted to get a clean shot with it now. If the enemy still had an ounce of life left, he wanted to erase that dot of light as well.

Before he could shoot, however, what happened next almost made him take a horrendous shit across the waters.

The darkness he was enveloped by, was suddenly replaced by that signature, red-light. It made him scope the perimeter immediately, and he noticed that this sudden light came from beneath the water's surface!

"Hell nah… There are three Terrugas?" Gustav asked.

Little math was necessary to figure something out; The monster's remains couldn't be in two-to-three places at once! The water's currents weren't that strong, so the unusual corpse couldn't have been dragged around that quickly.

The odds were intense now, so he started to fear death again. His response still remained the same, though, the best idea was to start blasting!

Instead of shooting the enemy that was far away, he aimed towards the one which was close by instead. It was below the waters, presumably about twenty meters below so it was far easier to shoot this one!

This decision along with the movements were frantic, but he expected good results!

"What? I missed it?" Gustav grunted right after.

He missed what could've been a clear shot, and was baffled by the odds. The target was a massive collection of light, paired with a bunch of slithering red arms, so this failed shot didn't make much sense.

Things continued to get worse, as the monster below started flapping around. The waters started moving even more, and within a few seconds, Gustav was pushed away from where he missed the shot.

The currents dragged him along quicker, and he couldn't quite fight it or take another shot either. All limbs had to be put into use, just to stay above the waters and breathe!

It was a disadvantage, and this battle was far from being over. When he least wanted it, he noticed that Arila suddenly jumped in this cavern as well.

The massive pool cushioned her fall, but that was the only positive side. The area she fell into was lit up enough, so he could see how the lady started struggling!

"No!" He first yelled.

Afterwards he started swimming towards the opposite way, just to get closer to the other. It was imperative to reach her, or else she would drown rather quickly!

Arila's back was numb, and likely bloody because of the prior collision, so she wasn't able to swim for long!

"Keep your head up, I'm coming!" Gustav shouted again.

This pool was developing into a spiral, as its speeds picked up to a dangerous level. Somehow he thoroughly understood how a spiral worked, and knew that if he battled the flow of water for long enough, then he'd meet Arila far quicker!

The waters had already pushed her to the cavern's darkest side, so Gustav could only hope that she fought these damped circumstances, long enough!
