Chapter 3 - Wrong Step

An elegant ring of white gold studded with diamonds weighing one point five carats was thrust into the ring finger of the girl's left hand by the boy teenager. There has been a perfect reflection of all the beauty. No one will be able to spoil their happy story.

"From tonight," continued the host, "Miss Navia Jensen has officially become the fiance of Young Master Ditya Sabiyantoro. They may share a love story that is timeless and peaceful until the day the yellow leaf curvatures. Let us remember this evening as a pleasant memory, a meaningful prayer, of the day when Miss Navia and Young Master Ditya will become a proud household that continues the pride of their respective families, the families of Mr. Zachery Jensen and Mr. Surendra Sabiyantoro.

"Applause!"

Plok plok plok.

"Yheeee."

Plok plok plok.

"Congratulations, Navia, Ditya. May you stay together until death does you part."

Plok plok plok.

"Congratulations!"

Plok plok plok.

"Now," said host Rocky Sitohang, "it's time for the ball. Let's invite the King and Queen of the show tonight to open the first dance.

"Music, play!"

It was then that John Legend's legendary song, "You & I (Nobody in the World), began to play, affectionately pampering everyone's ears. Ditya thrust one of his palms while bowing. Navia welcomed the outstretched hand gently.

After the happy dance party ended. Now the guests are busy chatting while enjoying a variety of expensive dishes that are served. From big meals to small meals. Soft drinks and liquor. All provide the finest accommodations for guests from various backgrounds. Some wealthy tycoons are willing to spend their precious time attending the engagement party of two teenagers. Adults work for the corporations of both families. Do not forget there are also school friends of the two children who are engaged, who of course come from the same circle.

The party that night was beautiful, lively, and full of joy.

BRAAAKK!!!

"What are you doing in here? Your body was already curved indistinctly like a snail in a shell. There's a party downstairs. Instead of greeting the guests, you're just sitting alone in this room like a pitiful person."

Except for one person.

"I don't want to," the boy responded in English from behind the bed cover.

"Get down or I'll send you to Mossbourne Victoria Park Academy!" threaten adults on the doorstep in Indonesian.

He thought, oh my God, this is a school in London that has rules that must obey the teacher and cannot go anywhere after school. I could die if I were put in that kind of school.

Damn it.

After doing various things such as rituals and formalities with her new fiance. Ditya, who was originally quite depressed with all that, rushed to find three close friends to ease his feelings. Likewise, Navia when allowed by Bung Rocky Sitohang immediately rushed to circle the girl and her popular friends at school.

"Wow, your appearance was amazing tonight, Ditya," Ruri praised. "It's not like a teenager anymore."

"Can't you give us tips and tricks that can be matched with a country flower like Navia?" asked Bhan.

"Drink first, drink first. Your face looks tired to deathly pale so, " said Diro's attention while handing a glass of soft drink to Ditya.

Ditya arched his smile wide, thanked him, and accepted the drink. He said, " Thank you for coming. Although it has been a few times the practice it still feels uncomfortable." He loosened the ribbon tie that entangled his neck like a hanging knot.

"We can change positions, Dit, if you don't want to be with Navia," teased Bhan while nudging Ditya's shoulder with the tip of his elbow.

Ditya only smiled faintly. I didn't seem to enjoy the conversation. But I can't wait for another topic of conversation. All that others want to hear must only be related to Navia. It's not like he can control everything either.

"You're a person who can't be grateful, " added Diro with a laugh.

Again Ditya only smiled faintly.

"Ditya," called someone from behind him. The two teenage boys' eyes widened as Ditya himself confirmed the truth of his identity and turned his head.

Ditya was no less surprised by the appearance of the caller. The pain that could not be removed forced the two people to just put their lips together. Staring at the man's bitter smile in front of him.

"What the hell is this? Why do you look at it like a soap opera?" ask Bhan so awkward. Diro and Ruri just silently watched the situation. What's wrong with having someone call you so normal that you can petrify him?

That's too much.

"Guys, let me introduce him to you. This is Mika Zachery Jensen, the only son of Mr. Zachery Jensen aka my fiance's twin sister, " said Ditya trying to introduce the teenager who must have just returned from abroad to three school friends. A little bit... stammering.

Why introduce it so awkwardly, anyway? They will be brothers-in-law, thought Diro, Bhan, and Ruri who moved closer to extend a hand of introduction.

"Introduce, we are Ditya's school friends," said Bhan representing two other friends.

"His name is Bhanu, I am Ruri, and this is Diro," continued Ruri.

"Nice to meet you," continued Diro. Making relationships with influential family members like him is incredibly beneficial for their future. This precious opportunity should be used as wisely as possible.

"Ah, yes, I'm sorry, sorry. My name is Mika. Greetings also to all of you, " replied Mika, a bit awkward, but still polite, trying his finest to speak in Indonesian which he had not used for a long time. One by one, he held out the hands of his friends. But, his eyes could not focus and still look at Ditya with an inexplicable look.

"Sorry, Mika, I think we have something to talk about," Ditya whispered into the right ear of the oriental-looking teenager. Immediately he pulled Mika's wrist leaving his three friends. Cut through the crowd of people on the dance floor. Towards the backyard of the Zachery Jensen family residence.

"What the hell are you planning to do?!" Mika asked in Indonesian, forcing Ditya to release his wrist.

Ditya immediately put his index finger in front of his lips while hissing softly, Shhh! "Es tut mir wirklich, wirklich leid (I'm sorry), " he said in German. Mika hinted that he would use similar language. It can be dangerous until someone hears or knows the content of their conversation. It won't be a short conversation either.

Well, we'll see.

Fortunately, Mika immediately understood and responded in German," Es Gibt Nichts zu vergeben (There is nothing to forgive), " he said while looking away.

"Warum bist du zu dieser Party gekommen? (Why did you come to this party?) "asked Ditya trying to be as gentle as possible. As subtle as possible so as not to create any misunderstandings.

"Worüber redest du? Das ist mein Haus. Das ist eine Party, die meine Familie schmeißt. Obwohl ich hier nichts zu tun habe, habe ich auch die Pflicht, die Freunde meiner Eltern zu begrüßen, die kommen (What are you talking about? This is my house. This is a party held by my family. Even though there is no business here I also must greet my parents ' friends who come)," answered Mika still trying to look away. His regret must have piled up so much that it made his face darker.

(Do you know that nothing good will happen if we meet? Don't tell me you don't know who your sister is getting engaged to tonight. Please, don't do that!) "he asked.

Both of their eyes are fixed on each other. Emotional fluctuations. Unrepresented soul turmoil. All that evokes the charm of a very rotten past.

What else do you expect from this (shit) "relationship", Mika?
