Chapter 1 - 1: Round glasses and a pair of honeycombs

With a heavy heart-thumping breath and nerve itching, Oliver deeps his hand into his pocket as he reaches for a small bottle he opens. He stared at the pill silently before pouring some into his palm and swallowing it without water. He swallowed them like he has been doing it for a long time.

The pills went to his pocket as his hand went back to clenching the strap of his expensive bag. He waited calmly for the elevator to reach the right floor, but instead, it stopped with a ding and split open.

Standing out there was Evelyn Jones, the smart and most curious student St Louis University knew. Oliver had heard about her and even got to know from rumors how she could smell a secret from a distance and do the impossible to know it. She had a problem with minding her business, that was what he thought.

During his three weeks, he had already found out who was who, which was very impressive even to himself.

Evelyn Jones walked in adjusting her eyeglasses, her big honey-brown eyes met his hazel gaze for a bit before she took her place inches away from him.

He couldn't help but glance at her as she typed on her phone.

Massive afro hair, peanut butter skin, chocolate upper lip, and pink lower lip, a hand in her knee-length pink denim gown pocket, she was TERRIFIC.

Oliver shrugged at his thoughts, he doesn't like glass faces by the way.

A glance from Evelyn before she rolled her eyes. "Are you the new rich in school?" She asked her eyes now, prying into his.

Oliver couldn't ignore her pretty voice that sounded like trouble.

"Yeah, I guess you aren't new." He said.

"A transfer student, huh?" She continued.

"You know everything, huh?" He returned her question with no amusement.

Her brows pulled together in a crossed manner. "What? Do you have a problem with that?"

*What a troublemaker

Oliver moved to the elevator door and hit a button trying to get away from her.

"Running away?" she smirked. "Coward."

Oliver slowly turned around as her words got into him. "Who the fuck do you think you are? You must be crazy, cause you're attacking me for no reason and you have no idea who I am." He blasted.

"Really? Who made silly remarks about my questions and gave me weird looks, like I picked my clothes from the streets?"

Oliver chuckled drily. "It seems like it. I bet you found that" he shuddered, "denim in the garbage."

She frowned deeply with a direct glare at him. Her honey-brown eyes were turning darker. "I guess you bought yours from the most expensive store in China, Mr. Moneybag!" She growled.

Oliver raised a brow at the way she was fuming with rage like a heated kettle.

"Listen here, I can't spend any more time chatting with you," he slowly brushed her off as he reached for his phone dialing a number with Bob as name.

"Prepare my car." He said on the phone, this only angered Evelyn who snatched his phone from his grips and hung the call.

Oliver stared at her with a gasp, unable to believe what had just unfolded. No one had ever touched him without his permission, not to speak of snatching his stuff. She would definitely pay for it!

"Give. It. Back." He growled, stretching his hand.

"Some attention back." She smirked like a maniac.

"First, you must apologize for what you did." She narrowed her eyes at him. He stared at the phone then at her.

He stomped towards her angrily and tried to snatch the phone only to have her duck and run to the other corner.

"What the?" He groaned.

"Come on." She laughed.

He ran after her missing her each time when he managed to tackle her to the wall he snatched his phone as she bite down on his hand he yelped letting his phone go in the process, the phone hit the ground cracking in the process.

Evelyn stared at the ruin with wide eyes, the elevator dinged open, "well, it shouldn't be a problem you've got the money." She winked before disappearing as she came.

Oliver furiously picked up the phone squeezing it tightly in his grip. He had been using that phone for some time now and some valuable memories were inside.

He stepped out of the elevator, with his blood boiling. Evelyn Jones just started a game she couldn't end.

*******

Three hours into class, Oliver is stepping out with his tablet scrolling through his notes as Bob approaches him.

The bald man was dressed in black with black sunglasses and an earpiece connected to his right ear.

"May I speak with you, sir?" Bob asked.

Oliver walked past him expecting him to follow behind which he did. "what?" He replied through gritted teeth.

"Your mother left a message for you." He announced. His face softened and he turned around to face the taller man. He brushed a bang away from his view to the back of his ear.

"What did she say this time?" He turned around and started for the hall.

"She says your father is crossed. Because you didn't give him an update on Zilda."

Oliver brought a hand to his face as he handed his bag and tablet to Bob who took them. "It always has to be on that fucking project," he muttered.

"Drive me to the most expensive restaurant in town." He ordered softly, the students that walked by glanced at him and muttered to themselves.

Oliver was so used to that that he simply walked out of the university premises. He was going to take his time away from the business so as to grab his breath. "Give me your phone, mine had a minor accident in the elevator, you have to order another one for me by today." He ordered and Bob responded positively.

Bob passed his phone over, Oliver got to glance at the wallpaper which was that of his six-year-old daughter, she looked happy in her swimming suit.

He hesitantly dialed a number and waited for a response which he got soon. The sound of classic music was playing in the background of the call. He couldn't help but roll his eyes, she was at it again, expensive parties to parties.

"Darling dearest!" A feminine voice came from the other line.

"Mother," he pronounced as usual.

"Where are you?"

"Uh, heading home why?"

"Good just do that cause, I want you to be safe."

"Yeah, yeah."

"Uh, what about father?"

"I think you should call him, and be patient with him, you know him all too well."

"Yes, I will," Oliver responded politely.

"Steven is in town, he promised to meet with you." She informed him, and he rolled his eyes with a wrinkled nose.

"I don't need his boring ass over my life."

"Language young man," She scolded.

"Yeah, yeah. Talk to you after."

"Honey, just be careful with your father, okay?"

"I will." he hung up.

"Remind me to call him tomorrow Bob."

"Yes sir."

As they got to the restaurant, Bob pulled over and helped Oliver with his door. He was dressed in a white turtleneck with black pants, looking expensive. Oliver reached for his ears with piercings. It was very cold outside.

Bob escorted him inside the restaurant to a comfortable table where he could sit. Oliver took a seat and picked up the menu, he looked up getting ready to order when his gaze fell on a man seven tables ahead in the midst of many other men and women in similar attire. This caused him to freeze, his eyes widened and his breathing hitched.

HOW COULD IT BE?
