Chapter 8 - Bug's House

Evelyn crossed her arms, as she cleared her throat. "I'm sorry about yesterday." She said with bitterness like venom in her tone.

"I already reported it to the university direction through email, I think they would switch partners or leave the project in my hands." He explained carefully as if trying to brush her off.

Evelyn scoffed "I know. And I somehow convince them to give us another chance together. I know you like being my partner and we're going to have so much fun." She grinned.

Oliver glanced at his wristwatch, "you have three minutes left." He announced.

"I'm inviting you over to my house for the study."

"I do not have time to attend a small square-bugs-dwelling abode."

Evelyn brushed his insult with a chuckle, "I planned it for today. And you don't have much choice then I'll have to report you for dumping me and never attending how do you see that?" She waves her pen as she spoke.

"Smart for a forest," he complimented darkly. "I won't make it today I have a planned schedule for the day, that I can not skip or replace."

"My dad is also receiving a guess today but I'm making room available for us."

"Three minutes over. See you around miss Denim." He walked past her with an evil chuckle with Tim following. Mady stared as they walked by.

"I didn't like the way he smells you should be very careful," Madison said to her best friend.

Evelyn stared at the void they left as they made their turn. "Don't worry Mady, I know how to deal with a selfish, brat like him. And is have planned a bunch of stuff for his arrival. It would be hellish for him. He made my life a horror when I worked with him." She paused.

"I'm going to make his worse." She blinked before grabbing Madison's arm and walking away. As she plotted her shift for tomorrow.

Evelyn got home earlier to plan for the next day, she walked into her humble abode, Mr. Money bag compared to a bugs-abode. What nonsense, she thought.

She scurried towards the large stairs only to be stopped any a boy popping from the direction of the kitchen. "Hi, Chris." She blurted.

"Why are you in a hurry?" Chris shouted as she was almost gone behind the walls upstairs.

"None of your cat business." She joked as she slammed her door, before folding her arms. "Here, here, here. I have to start executing my plans."

Evelyn put her bags away as she searched through her shelves for the books she needed for tomorrow's final strike.

She spent hours on her revenge plan and was snapped to reality by the doorbell. She ignores it for a bit before finally getting to her feet and walking down the stairs with her socks-covered feet.

She yanked the door open, carelessly, and froze, hands on the knob eyes wide open behind her glasses.

Olive held no different expression from her, his shock quickly melted into a thoughtful lip-pulse, and finally into a FAKE warm smile.

"Won't you invite me into your bug's abode?" He mocked.

Evelyn frowned but let him in any way. "You said you weren't coming today. And how did you get my address have you been stalking me or something?"

Oliver stared around at the furniture and look of the home. "I still stand on my words, Miss Denim, I can here for a rendezvous with Mr. Jones, Peter Ezekiel Jones." He said.

Evelyn could only scoff. "You're kidding."

"There you are!" A masculine voice exclaimed behind her. Tim picked the man's look and let him approach them.

Evelyn's father shook hands with Oliver and the exchange grins along.

"Uh, Dad where do you know each other?" Evelyn asked.

"Eve, this is my intern, his father contacted me weeks ago, and we came to an agreement that I would give this young brilliant made the knowledge behind coins and business language." Mr. Jones narrated with a merry smile.

"Ah," Evelyn nodded with a wrinkled nose.

"You already met each other I suppose." He spoke to both of them.

"We go to the same University, Dad," Evelyn added.

"Wow! You should be friends then." Mr. Jones said.

Evelyn let out a dry laugh, "partners in the project but not buddies." *A fucking snob and a giant dickhead. With a flower like me, nuh uh.

"I hope you don't mind if my bodyguard follows us around," Oliver said.

"Of course not!" Peter started making his way to his study with his arms around Oliver who looked small to be compared with the man.

Evelyn rolled her eyes, feeling a tinge of jealousy.

She returned to her occupations with Chris making dinner. "Hey, I'm Mr. Money bag from London. Idiot." She muttered.

"Wo, wo, Eve, calm down! Chill!" Chris took the pen knife she was waving from her and placed it in a safe corner.

"What in the world is going on?" He sat on the counter next to her.

She took in a deep breath and adjusted her glasses, "there is this super gorgeous boy at school who thinks he owns the universe, he has been a jerk since we met in the elevator, he treats everyone like they were insects. And he called this place a bug home." She blurted in one breath.

Chris burst out laughing, "and he is Dad's intern right?" He continued laughing.

Evelyn punched him on his arm. "You can't be serious."

"Sorry, you said super gorgeous." she laughed.

"he looks like a plank though, he is so lean." She laughed.

"Why don't we forget about his snobbish attitude and focus on dinner?"

"Sure."

When they were done setting the table and dinner, Peter was escorting Oliver out of his office with Tim next to him as always.

Oliver's look brightened up for the very first time since she had met him, he didn't hold the sadist look of void in his eyes. He looked different, something about his hazel eyes and his pointed nose.

A nudge brought Evelyn to her reality as she found Oliver and everyone else staring at her. She cleared her throat.

"You and your friend can stay for dinner," Peter suggested.

"No sir, I have to retreat to my house, I still have so much paper works to do. Thank you for this section." Oliver said politely.

"Sit down son, and have dinner with me, what instructor would I be if I don't invite you around my table?"

Oliver opened his mouth to utter a word instead his stomach growled causing Peter to chuckle while he turned bright pink because of his olive skin.

"Your stomach seems to be in disagreement with your words." Peter joked and Chris laughed. Tim stayed put doing his job.

"I guess, I can't refuse." He said in a small voice, Evelyn caught again by his personality. She replied his tone in her head and it was like nothing she had heard him utter, he sound like a shy teen and not like a cold businessman.

They gather together around the table and prayed before they dig in, Oliver silently and politely ate without a word using the right utils. Evelyn just couldn't imagine how many years he was trained to be so reserved and polite.

"What about your cousin, Emma?" Peter asked.

"She is studying in London, the last time we met she had changed plans. I don't know about now, Sir."

"I see, what about your mother, and brothers?"

Evelyn almost choked when she heard brothers. *This snob had got other snobs siblings, this is a pain.

"She recently travel to Dubai for a family reunion along with them." He explained.

*family reunion with a son is not really one.

Oliver wiped his mouth before looking up after setting his fork abd knife down. "Thank you, sir, for the meal and your time. I'm afraid we'll have to call it a day cause I need to retreat to my work."

Peter glanced at the young man's half-eaten plate, and up at him. "Okay, Oliver it was a pleasure."

Oliver stood up along with Peter, he started towards the door but halted brutally as he almost collapsed, Tim was quick to catch him. Chris and Evelyn were on their feet with wide eyes.

Tim helped him onto a chair, as he searched his pockets. Chris quickly brought them a glance of water.

Tim poured the piles of his palm and handed them to Oliver who looked light-headed. Oliver swallowed them at once weakly.

"What happened?" Peter asked worriedly.

"The young sir-" Tim started but Oliver cut him off.

"I'm just exhausted from the day's work," Oliver grumbled.

Peter nodded, "Then you must get home at once and have some rest."

Oliver looked up as he got back to his feet just in time to catch Evelyn staring with a puzzled look. He dismissed her and left along with Tim.

Back home dressed in his Pajamas, he was back to his paperwork scanning, signing, researching, and gathering. What a long night it would be he constantly saw Evelyn's gazes flashing in his head. *What did it mean? Would she get to the bottom of it?
