"What. Did. You. Just. Say?" I practically gasped, abruptly shooting up to my feet and startling the woman that was styling my hair behind me.
Kim shrank at my tone, nervously fidgeting as she stood near the doorway of my majestic bedroom. "The Limo is suddenly unavailable, ma'am. I called the company, but they only said someone bought it. The refund is on its way."
What? I stared at her incredulously. Someone bought a super expensive vehicle that I had booked down for weeks just for this day? That was an explanation that was simply illogical. In fact, the more I thought about it, the angrier I got. And she is talking about a refund? I leveled my voice, sending her a hard glare. "Which of the escort is in charge of making sure the Limo is delivered to my doorstep safe and clean? Get that person to provide a better explanation right now."
Kim nodded, then scurried out of the room.
I stared after her, truly upset at this sudden turn of events. Every year, a particular huge car company produced just one Limousine model that was one of a kind, a super expensive too. Every wealthy person wanted it. But the catch was, they never sold it to anyone. They only rented it out to the highest bidder, for just one day. Ever since I was a kid, I had watched Dad rent one just once. It was so costly, that Dad said he doesn't like lavishing money on needless things. But I was obsessed with the Limo.
I don't know why.
So I decided that I would rent out the most expensive, and unique Limo, from that exact company on the day of my dreams. The day I become CEO. And I did. They were supposed to fucking deliver it to my escorts today.
Why would they suddenly sell it and refund my money? If they didn't respect deals and business policies, they could at least respect my last name! They didn't sell any of their unique Limos for years. Why now?! I was never going to take that. Storming away from my dressing table and closet with my robe rustling, I grabbed my phone and called the manager of the company.
One thing had ruined the day already for me, and that was the merging. Now, the only thing I was looking forward to has been taken away as well?
"Hello, Miss Vega…" The manager answered, chuckling lightly. I fumed silently, wondering if there was anything fucking funny about the situation. "Congratulations once again on your-"
"Cut the fucking crap, Mr. Walsh." I snapped, anger coloring my tone. "My P.A just informed me that my money is being refunded, and the Limo has been sold. What is the meaning of this? I do hope this is a gross mistake."
I heard a sharp intake of breath on the other end of the call as if he flinched so hard. Then he spoke up in a pacifying tone. "I deeply apologize, Miss Vega. I was actually going to call you to explain it all to you, and also appeal to you not to sue us for this disappointment…"
The more he spoke, the more my heart dropped, realizing that it was really true. They fucking sold the Limo I had already rented! Anger rose like a bile inside me. Sue him? Yes, I was sorely tempted to sue the entire fucking company for breaching our deal and I was sure I would win. The Vega were the most powerful in all America, and they would stand no chance against my arsenal of hotshot lawyers.
This was a childhood dream they just ruined.
I was going to fucking deal with them for this. But I knew I couldn't. After I'm officially CEO, I will release a press statement. Later hearing the news of me being in a court war with a car company after I just became CEO would be bad for my reputation. I would be labeled a fucking tyrant. That was the downside of being the leader of such a large conglomerate. All eyes were on you, and you had to make decisions that wouldn't hurt others, no matter how difficult it is.
"Mr. Walsh." I spoke up coolly, trying to rein in my anger. "I do not want your apology. I do not want to hear it. But bear in mind that you have lost any chance of the Vega Conglomerate being in contact with you ever again."
"Miss Vega." He gasped. "Believe me, it was out of my control. Selling any one of the Limos is not an option, and that has been the rule for years. But an order came from the owner of this company, ma'am. I was ordered to sell it despite the fact that it was rented out already. It was not up to me anymore. I had no idea that the owner had links with the Reyes-"
"What did you say?" I blurted out, eyes widening when I heard that name.
The manger paused before answering. "Mr. Reyes was the one who bought the Limo, ma'am. I do not know what on earth he could have offered the owner to break a life-long rule."
My pulse was roaring. "Was he aware that the Limo was rented out already?"
"Yes. He even specifically asked." Mr. Walsh said. "Please listen, ma'am. We sent the refund along with some other bonuses for the inconveniences and-"
I hung up on him, breathing heavily. Alejandro Reyes. It was him. My anger was rising so hard and fast that I thought I was going to explode. He knows about my obsession with that Limo. He knows that I wanted it for the day I became CEO, because I was always saying it as a kid. Just hours before I would face him, and become co-CEOs… he did this.
He bought my Limo. On purpose.
I already hated him. But now, the hatred was so blinding and I could not hold the anger in anymore. I screamed.
