Chapter 43 - Chapter 43 - Mass Hunting (7)

Lily observed them for a while, her eyes examing their bodies to get an idea of what they might be capable of.

Just because they looked odd or ordinary didn't mean they were weak, she wasn't going to take such a risk anymore, and she used her keen senses to try and get a feel for her enemies.

They walked and spoke as she followed along.

The conversation could have been more meaningful, but it wasn't. Mainly about their days and other topics she wasn't keen on.

She followed them for a few minutes, just listening to them, before deeming them not a threat to her current self.

Even with her injuries.

She decided to go for the man that looked abnormal first since he seemed the most likely to prove a threat to her with his appearance.

Jumping down from the ceiling, she crushed down on him like before, killing him on the spot since he didn't seem that strong physically.

She broke his body, bones breaking and blood splattering as he crashed to the ground, and so did her.

Quickly she stabilized herself and made a move toward the nearest target, the girl.

She dashed forward, her claws aiming to slash the girl's neck. However, the girl was able to slightly avoid it.

The cut still went through; however, it wasn't as deep as she had hoped, and while the girl's neck was bleeding, she wasn't mortally wounded just yet.

"Shit, run!"

The woman yelled to the masked man, who didn't even need to wait for another scream before he had already begun running.

He didn't even stop looking back at what was happening, his cowardice and fear carrying his legs as he ran with impressive speed.

Lily used the chance of the girl's distraction to go in again for another slash, but the girl whipped her hand in the direction she dashed, a green liquid spewing out towards her.

Avoiding the incoming liquid by jumping to the side, Lily watched as the green liquid made contact with the ground and sizzled, slowly beginning to melt away at the stone.

'Acid.'

She thought, making a mental note to avoid the liquid whenever she could and to finish this quickly.

With a new idea in mind, she zig-zagged towards the girl, her position changing often by jumping from side to side, not allowing the girl to get an idea of where she was going to be.

Lessening the chance of the acid hitting her, and lessening it did.

The girl attempted to spew out more acid from her body. Still, they weren't able to hit the fast-moving Lily, who eventually got close enough to attack.

Her claws slashed forward and cutting the girl's neck; this time, it was deep enough to cut her fatally, killing her on the spot.

'One left.'

The only one left was the masked man who had made a run for it; she had to deal with him quickly, and catching up was pretty easy.

Lily was very fast, much faster than that of a normal human after all the things she had devoured and her increase in stats.

At her top speeds, she could move close to 100 km/h, which was considerably faster than an average human; however, in her current wounded state, she could at most move around 70-80 km/h without worsening her wounds.

That was still enough to catch up to the masked man, that hadn't gotten far since the beginning of the fight, quickly slamming into his back from behind and pushing him onto the floor.

He came to a tumbling stop as he visibly trembled in pain and fear.

Lily walked over to the masked man and grabbed him by his neck, lifting him up and pressing him against the tunnel's wall.

She had no plans to torture or toy with the man; she was going to break his neck as quickly and painlessly as possible so that his suffering would end. Still, the man suddenly gasped in pain and clenched his head.

Which she found strange because she hadn't even attacked him anywhere in his head.

"Did you just try messing with my mind?"

She asked, trying to make a guess as to what he was attempting to do.

She felt the man shake in fear, his body language already exposing that he had done just that.

"I just-t want to live. Please, d-don't hurt me, I-I didn't mean it."

The man begged as tears streamed down his eyes, his words trembling as he spoke.

Lily frowned her brows slightly; she didn't like that.

She didn't want them to suffer; she killed them because she wanted to grow, not torment them or for fun.

Watching them suffer didn't please her.

Not even her alien side enjoyed it.

The only people she liked watching beg were those that tried to kill her— her enemies— and those that are in bed.

But that was beside the point.

She just wanted to know what he was trying to do. She didn't want him to suffer, so she snapped his neck once he began to beg.

Dropping the body on the ground, she called for her worms to deal with them as she moved on to another place to hunt.

This would most likely be the last few mutants she killed before returning.
