As pepper ran toward the voice, it grew ever so close. "Wow, that voice is beautiful. I've never heard anything like it." pepper said, admiring the girl's voice as ge ran.
'She isn't singing any lyrics, it seems. I just assumed I was too far away to make any words out.' pepper thought, as he jumped over a rock in the forest.
Running past the trees, pepper notices the girl sitting on a large rock in an opening in the forest, the moon shines bright on her compared to the darkness of the forest.
"Hey, I apologize to interrupt your singing, it was very beautiful, but I need to ask, who are you?" pepper says, trying not to be rude. 'Why do I have such a fixation to her...?' pepper thought, as ge couldn't stop admiring her.
"Oooh! Hello! You wanna know my nameeee?" The girl asked, seeming extremely friendly.
"Yes, I'd love to!" pepper said, accidentally getting too excited. "Ahem!" pepper caughed, as he cleared his throat. "But first, my name is pepper." pepper said, as he realized he should introduce himself first.
"pepper...? I seeee... I ammm Ku-met-su!" Kumetsu said, as she bobbed her head happily. "But pepper... It's probably not a good idea for you to be hereee." Kumetsu continued.
"Huh? Why not?" pepper asked, as he starts to walk towards her and the rock she sat on.
Kumetsu slid off the rock and pepper walked a few steps to go around it, so that he could meet her on the side she slid to, but he doesn't see her.
"What the...? Hey, Kumetsu? Where'd you go?" pepper shouted, looking for Kumetsu who disappeared.
"You... what do you want with my Kumetsu?" Asked a man with long blue hair, much like pepper's, who slowly walked out through the shadow of the forest.
"Alright, so this is what we're doing, huh? A new pepper and Kumo every minute... Jeez." pepper mumbled, to himself. "Uh... hi, I was just fascinated with her voice is all. I only wanted to hear her sing, is that an issue?" pepper explained, seeing no problem with his choice.
"Well, I guess she could sing a song. Come on, Kumetsu, you know the one." The man said, as he looked into the forest.
pepper looked where the man was looking, and he saw her. She nodded her head and walked behind a tree and disappeared, then appeared behind a different tree close by. As she appeared behind her third tree, she began to sing. pepper noticed something start to form around the man, it looked like a layer of wind that had completely surrounded him, like some sort of shield or force field. pepper shot a web at the force field and it bounced off, not leaving a trace it was ever there.
As pepper thought he started hearing Kumetsu's lyrics, and to him, it sounded like she's singing about someone she loves and how they'll never die.
"pepper, my name is Godita, remember this name since it is the one that will damn you to Hell." Godita said, with a horrific grin.
"Damn me? You've done nothing yet and I sure as hell won't give you the chance." pepper said, with a serious look on his face
"Haha... ha... AHAHAHAAAAA!!! You've got to be kidding! Do you not realize what you're up against? Let me spell it out for you, boy." Godita said, with an annoying smile. "Remember that web you shot? Did you notice how it did nothing? As long as she sings that song, I'll be invincible." Godita said, with lots of dramatic hand movements.
"Um, I'm over here..." pepper said, with a dumbfounded look.
"I KNOW WHERE YOU ARE, BOY!" Godita yelled, turning pepper's direction. "Now, let's get on with this, this song doesn't last forever and I haven't got all day." Godita continued.
'So, he's blind, and the song doesn't last forever. I see, that blindfold he wears, it isn't fake, at least I know that much.' pepper thought, as he watched Godita prepare to run. Godita rushed towards pepper, but pepper shot a web into a tree and pulled himself up, dodging his rush. Godita stopped exactly where pepper stood, he looked up and sensed pepper above him, so he jumped. pepper swang away but his web swang him back and due to the force of pepper moving, the web snspped and pepper fell and landed on his back.
As pepper took a moment to get up, he heard crumbling. When he got to his feet, he saw cracks near the rock that Kumetsu once sat on.
'What the hell is happening? An Earthquake? Well, I guess a Halloweenquake... I'm pretty sure that's what this place is called, it's what all the mosters kept saying in that annoying song...' pepper thought, getting distracted. 'Focus, pepper. Wait, water's starting to dribble out of the crack...' pepper thought, beginning to worry about what might come.
suddenly, as pepper feared, loads of water came shooting out of the small crack as pepper got forced onto the ground. Unable to move, all pepper can do is think. 'The trees, they're not moving, they aren't being forced down like I am. And that odd insect, it doesn't even notice the water that surrounds it, but I can feel the pressure as if the sky were falling on me. And I can feel the water rise as it engulfs me.' pepper thought, trying to make sense of his confusion.
"Now drown, you fool. You shouldn't have followed her hums. She talked to you, that means she likes you, too bad for you that she's on my leash." Godita said, sounding full of himself. "I AM THE ONE SHE LOVES, NOT YOU!" Godita yelled, growing angrier with every word.
'He's feeling the pressure too, is it caused by understanding the lyrics? I've hardly been listening to them. He's on the rock though, probably so he doesn't drown and only I will. But why go through with the whole force field thing? Is it just a precaution measure? Or maybe just some extra power that comes with the song? Whatever it is doesn't matter, what matters it getting out of here, this water is almost to my nose, but the worst part is is that the water is so freaking cold, I hate the cold...' pepper thought, eventually complaining instead of thinking. 'Wait, when I hit the ground earlier, I didn't feel any pain, my back is fine, I feel fine. None of this makes sense, it's like a dream... If it were a dream, it'd make so much more sense. This could be a dream, a dream that... looks and acts exactly like the real world around our sleeping bodies, but the oddities that occur within the dream are nothing but what the song makes our brains think.' pepper thought, as the water began to cover him. "WAKE UP! YOUR MISSION IS TO SAVE KUMO, YOU IDIOT!" pepper yelled, to himself. pepper's body shot up, his eyes wide open. He can still hear Kumetsu sing. "It's been a while so the song should be over soon, not that it matters now." pepper said, realizing how little the song matters outside of the dream. "Did he wake up? Damn, the bastard found out it was a dream! Kumetsu, quit your damned singing, you know I can't use the force field in the dream and in the real world! Kumetsu!" Godita shouted, trying to get Kumetsu's attention, but Kumetsu was too enveloped in her song to notice. "Now, to finish this, you're not a good person at all, trying to kill someone just because the one you claim to love talked to them? Maybe you've had bad experiences with women, or perhaps you have so little confidence in yourself that you think she'll leave you, though, she'd be in the right to leave trash like you. Die." pepper said, as he used his spider leg to pierce Godita's heart. pepper felt a weird sensation a monent later, and he grew weak and fell to his feet, but quickly caught himself. 'What was that? Nevermind, I'm tired of questions.' pepper thought, feeling slightly annoyed. "Wait, where did Kumetsu go? So many questions! Ugh! Whatever. Kumetsu! Where are you? Are you okay?" pepper yelled, standing in silence, as he awaited a response, but none were to be heard.
"Perhaps she fled in fear, I don't blame her, but I'd like to apologize, I should have minded my own business. Oh well, I need to find Kumo and Utsu." pepper thought, before he ran into the forest, yet again.
"Damn it, this forest is so big! Where the hell did he take them?" pepper yelled, in frustration.
Suddenly a bush behind him rustled. "Who's there? Kumetsu? Hello?" pepper asked, before whatever was in the bush popped out.
"Aahh!" pepper slightly shouted, in confusion.
"Puu... Puu Puu Puu" Uttered a small creature that looked like a Jack O' Lantern. "Puuuuuuu!!!" It yelled.
"You... want me to follow you?" pepper asked, thinking it's a trap. But also questioning why he can understand what it wants.
"Pu... Pu...tsu... Putsu." It said, with a twirl.
"Pu...? Pu... utsu? UTSU? You know where Utsu is?!" pepper shouted, in hope. 'I know it may be a trap but I can't miss this opportunity. I'll just be forced to keep my guard up.' pepper thought, as he followed the Jack O' Lantern that somehow reminds him of Utsu.
