CHAPTER FIVE
Mrs Melody knocked on the door very early in the morning, " Jane dear please come out. I'm sorry."
After she called out without reply, she came in. Looking at the empty bed she got scared, she walks to the bathroom and knocks once again, " Jane are you in there?" This time she asked with a shaky voice. She wasn't in the the bathroom either.
She rushed down and dialed Carolina's number.
" Hello aunt," Lina answered with a sleepy tone.
" Lina? Is Jane at your place?" She closed her eyes praying that she was.
Lina rubbed her eyes, " no she isn't. Why?"
The phone dropped to the floor. Mrs Melody knelt on the ground shaking her head. " Jane why did you leave? Can't you give me another chance?"
Mrs Melody walked around the house, each and every corner reminded her of Jane. Each second felt like a stab to her chest, she was angry at herself for blurting those words in a fit of rage.
It was another eventful day Tim's and Carolina was taking her lunch break so she decided to give Jane call.
" Hello,"
" Jane where the hell are you?"
" I'm with my dad."
" Your dad? Why?"
" It's a long story."
" Yeah and I have all the time in the world."
" I've been with mom all these years and I wanted to give dad a chance."
" Seriously? You decided that in one night."
" No. I just had a fight with mom and then things blew out of proportion."
" Yeah sure." Lina's said questioningly.
" What do you mean by that?" Asked Jane slightly irritated.
" Okay. Could you please tell me what the cause of the fight was?"
"Well my mom decorated the living room just like dad would always do it and I got angry...."
" Angry? For what reason?" Lina cut her off.
" Well that's because it was annoying that she was trying to copy dad."
" Really? She probably did that because she thought you'd like it and be happy. She was trying to mend things with you." Lina almost yelled in anger.
" If so she wouldn't have told me to stay with dad."
"Well she said that because you pushed her to the edge."
" I didn't do anything okay. It's all her fault."
" Oh c'mon Jane. Again with the blame game."
" I'm saying the truth."
" Let's not fool ourselves anymore Jane. Your dad left years ago and your mom has been trying to patch things up with you. Try thinking back on everything, you never really listened to anything she had to say. You'd always fight with her at every chance you get. You might be surprised to find out that you don't know your mom as well as you claim."
Carolina looks at her wrist watch, " I've got to go. We still have alot to do for the upcoming winter bliss. Bye."
The park field covered with snow and the decorations, gave out a Christmas vibe. There was a frozen lake in front of the field and some kids and teens were ice skating.
The place had a peaceful and harmonious ambiance to it. Their laughter echoed in the air.
In the middle of the field were three canopies with snow men standing by each pillar of the canopy.
Everyone were doing their best to help. Everyone wanted to take part. The Christmas tree stood perfectly, it had the Christmas bells and lights on it. The Christmas star was at the tip of the tree.
On each side of the field were ice sculptures of the Christmas tree with the star at the tip.
The decorations went on till late.
" Hey Lina!" Justin called out.
" Oh. Hey Justin" she smiled.
" Um.. I couldn't help but notice that Jane didn't come today."
" Yeah, I don't think she'll be celebrating this year's Christmas in winter woods."
" Why?"
" Well she left. To meet her dad." Lina sounded so disappointed.
" Hey bro let's go." Jennie, Justin's sister called out.
" I'm coming."
Returning his attention to Lina, " why don't you come over for some hot choco."
" I don't think I can. I've got to go back home early,"
" Just one cup. I insist."
" Okay. One cup then."
They both head to the the little bakes.
" Grandma Lisa!" Lina calls out with a smile.
" Lina, how are you?"
" I'm fine."
She looks behind Lina , " you're not with Jane today. Why?"
" Jane kinda left."
" She left?"
" Yes. Turns out she'll be celebrating Christmas this year with her dad. I'm happy for her I guess. I mean she's always wanted to be with her dad and so this is like a dream come true for her. Even though I'm disappointed, I have to admit that I'm happy that she finally got what she wanted."
" She had to see her parents get separated at such a young age. I'm sure it must have been hard on her." Said Grandma Lisa
" I guess so"
" The hot choco is ready!" Jennie said walking in with a tray. They sat together talking. Mostly about the preparation for the upcoming events.
Justin walks over to a corner, " hey Jane,"
" Justin?"
" Yeah. I got your number from Lina."
" Ooh." She said simply.
" Um.. I heard you're going to be spending the rest of the year with your dad."
" Yes. Things just turned out this way."
" I was really looking forward to this year's Christmas festival."
" Me too."
" What's wrong? You sound... Sad."
" Nothing. Um.. I'm fine. Everything's okay."
" Jane you know you can come back anytime. You have people who love and care for you here as well."
" Yeah, sure. Thanks. That's my dad calling me so I've got to go. I'll see you when I see you. Bye."
