Chereads / Blood-Moon: The Story Of The Night / Chapter 24 - || XXIII ||

Chapter 24 - || XXIII ||

It was the last hour of the deadly night. The blood moon was still bright, but I knew it was the last time the blood moon would get to make our lives bloody. With strong and decisive steps, I walked towards the dome. The auras playing at the horizon still told me that the game was not over, and I HAD to be there for the climax.

With every step I took, I could hear my heartbeat. And with every heartbeat, I could see everyone in front of my eyes… I could see mom and dad, I could see my grandparents, I saw Astra, and Vlad with Anya… And I saw Vic, smiling at me. And this was when I knew more than ever what I was fighting for, and there was no way I could lose this at any cost.

"Self-doubt kills everything, Dione. Look inwards. You will find everything that you ever need to power through. It IS time. You are ready."

I could still hear Dione in my mind, louder than Mal ever was. And I walked calmly to the dome, taking in her words. "Look inwards…"

The fight still raged in the dome, but it was only Vic against Mal. Astra was hurt, and Anya was lying unconscious on the floor. Vlad was trying hard to recover from his injuries, but in vain.It was all how I saw it in my vision, but I knew the ending would be different. I HAD to make it different.

"I don't have all night, Vic. Don't make it any harder than it already is… It IS time. ARE YOU READY FOR THIS?!"

Mal said, as he began advancing on Vic. Vic was trying hard. He was bleeding, and panting, but he had a smile on his face.

"You- you won't… win, Mal. You cannot. E-Even if I- die, here, you- you will never get Dione. She… She is gone. She is far away from you. And- and you- you won't be able to- HNGH!!"

Before Vic could finish his sentence, Mal grabbed him by the throat, making him choke on his own blood. Vic coughed vigorously, and tried to breathe, while Mal only laughed.

"Leave him, Malvic."

Vic and Mal looked through the door towards me. Mal was stunned to see me for a second, as he then smirked at me. I was wearing the dress that Mal wanted me to wear. The same accessories that I was wearing on the day I decided to marry him. I strode proudly towards the dome, not breaking eye contact with Mal. I had a fire raging in me and I knew what could give me peace. It was blood. Until I had Mal's blood all over me, I wouldn't feel peace. I had lost a lot, and I wasn't ready to lose anything more. Astra, Vlad and Anya were laying in different areas of the dome, writhing in pain, trying to get up. I looked at them for a split second and then looked back at Mal. The pain that I felt fuelled me. If I had to beat Mal, I had to be Mal.

"Haw, yeah, now that's what I was talking about. So you finally decided to be smart, for once, huh? Hahah- well- don't try to be oversmart, though, hm? Or else-" He said, as he signaled towards Vic. I could sense Vic's despair, but I didn't look at him. My eyes were fixed on Mal. I smiled at Mal, shocking him a little.

"I'm only here to give you what you asked for, Mal. Nothing more, nothing less."

Mal laughed, pushing Vic away like a broken toy,

"Oh yeah? YEAH? IS THAT SO? Well- you DO realize right, that you won't be around for much longer for these spicy little dialogues of yours, right? AND NEITHER WOULD BE VIC." He growled in a low voice.

"I said, I'm only here to give you what you asked for. Nothing more, nothing less."

"Moon, please-"

"OH YEAH? WELL THEN GIVE IT TO ME-" Mal cut Vic short as he came running at me, raising his hand to attack me. Vic shouted in despair, but before Mal could even do anything, he stopped in his tracks, writhing in pain. Vic turned to look at us, and when he did, it shook him.

"Dione?"

My eyes were glowing a bright green and a green aura was emanating from my palm that was controlling Mal's limbs, making them twist in various directions. Mal kept trying to move away, but all he could do was roar at his bones being slowly broken one by one. Every crunch of his bone gave me a sense of satisfaction, until I let him go. Mal fell to the floor, growling, but then, he came running at me again, grabbing my throat with his other hand, roaring at me. But one look in my eyes confused him. I grabbed his throat at the same time, as my aura burned his flesh, making him scream. He held for as long as he could, and then threw me off to the side.

I was as if not myself. I could feel my potential fill up to the brim after centuries, and I knew what to do with it. I smirked at Mal as I got up, terrifying him even more.

I slowly walked past my mom as I picked up the blood-stained sword that lay on the ground. Vic took a few steps back, stunned as if he was now slowly remembering the events of the night. But all I knew on the inside was that I was not going to die this time.

Mal's eyes widened as he saw me take the sword. He almost instinctively tried to attack me, but Vic attacked him from behind. Mal fell to the floor, roaring, as Vic tried hard to keep him down. But Mal was desperate. And I knew the reason for his desperation. He threw away Vic and stood up, but before he could get a chance to run away, he was standing face to face with me.

"Galveh-medgal-grap… grapdru-medveh-nagonundrux… gongisg-ván."

Mal's eyes widened as he heard the words come out of my mouth. As if he didn't expect this, he grabbed me by my throat again. His sharp nails dug into my skin, but the more I felt him hurt me, the more I felt the power in me to finish him. Desperately, he scratched my waist, and even though it burnt my skin, I didn't care. I kept smiling at him, making him even more scared and desperate.

"You thought only you could resurrect on a full moon? Just because your mother removed my soul stone and destroyed it? History repeats itself, Mal! Remember your own words! What happened once, will happen twice. But this time, I will MAKE SURE that there is no return for you."

"NO-!" Mal wanted to shout, but before he could do so, I rammed my head against his, making him stagger. The blood on my hands left an imprint on his throat, reminding me of my actions.

"To completely kill a werewolf, one can either perform a ritual, perform a surgery, or behead the beast."

"AHHHH!!!" I shouted as I kicked Mal on the chest, making him fall to his knees. He was exactly in the place where I had left him in my past life, but this time, I had better plans. For a moment, I almost felt like a strong howling wind passed by me, trying to make me fall, but I didn't. Mal grabbed my ankles to throw me off, and even though I stumbled, I grabbed the back of his hair and peered into his eyes. I raised the sword high up in the air, as the blood red light of the moon lit up the sword.

"FEAR DESTROYS EVERYTHING, MAL. EVEN THE WORSHIPPERS OF DARKNESS CAN DIE IN DARKNESS IF THEY LET FEAR TAKE OVER FOR A SECOND. FACE YOUR FATE!!!"

I swung the sword swiftly, as if it was Dione who was doing it. With every flash of the moon, I could see my past self. I could see Dione ending Mal once and for all, and in no time, my sword went through Mal's throat. Dark sooty energy once again began crawling out of his body, almost covering me up with it. But I was determined to win. Letting out a battle cry, I looked up at the blood moon. My aura shone brighter than ever, making the darkness in Mal recede. I vigorously jerked my sword to the sides, beheading him. His dark red blood splurted all over my face and body immediately, making me find peace in my actions. This was finally going to be over now. I was holding Mal's head in my hands, while his body fell lifeless on the floor. An inhuman shriek almost echoed through the dome until it escaped, removing all the darkness from the dome, once and for all.

"Moon!-" Vic said, as he ran up to me. I was standing still. It almost made him anticipate if I was really going to be okay, or if this would end like it did, last time. But I answered his queries, as I slowly turned to look at him. He was crying. I wiped the tears off his face, and hugged him tight, throwing away Mal's head.

Astra, Anya and Vlad slowly woke up, as if this was nothing but a nightmare for them. As they saw us, they immediately ran up to us and hugged us tight.

"Moon… You- you're fine!" Astra said,

"Moon, I- I was so worried!" Anya added.

I smiled at them, as I looked up at the sky. It was dawn. The red of the night was slowly receding, letting us know that it was all over.

With the sound of birds chirping, we heard other voices around the dome.

"I- the villagers! T-They are back?!" Vlad asked. Astra nodded, wiping the tears off her face.

"Yes, I think so. Since… the one who messed with the fourth dimension is gone, hopefully the people who were gone, are back too. Only except the ones who are… dead."

Astra's words made me turn around. It was true. Mom and Caleb's body had already dissipated along with Mal's body. I wiped the tears off my face and took a deep breath.

"Let's go, Vic. Our people are expecting us." I said. Vic smiled at me, as the others went out first. Vic approached me and hugged me again.

"Are you sure about this, Moon? You- you look drained…" Vic said, as he cupped my cheeks. I only smiled wearily at him. It was true. I felt more exhausted than ever, but I wanted my people to know that the darkness was gone. They needed me.

I pressed Vic's hand as a reassurance and turned to leave, but then, my body gave up from the stress and I passed out.
