MARRIAGE.
What comes to your mind when you hear that word?
Marriage is a sacred agreement made by two people who love each other and want to continue and build a household with their loved ones to spend the rest of their lives together.
HAPPINESS.
That's the one word that always describes marriage. Saying marriage is something very happy, but it seems people have forgotten something...
Marriage is not always about happiness, but it can also be sadness for some people on this earth. And that's what happened to the woman with hazel eyes.
The married life that she longed for never happened to her.
Loyal they said...
Love they said...
But look what she got, she never got one of those things she wanted in her married life.
Nonsense. Everything that was said to her about marriage was just nonsense and lies that made her wish for something that would never happen.
"Ha... haha... hahaha..." the woman laughed blandly. Laughing at herself and her sad marriage.
What should she do? All her tears had been drained away, and maybe she could no longer shed her dried-up tears.
Ezlyn Storm.
That's the name of the woman sitting in front of her bedroom window. Such a beautiful name, that's what people always say to her when they find out her name. That was given by her parents who she loved the most.
No one ever insulted the name given to her, because some of them said that her name brought good luck and happiness.
Ezlyn rubbed her cheek gently. "Happiness..." muttered Ezlyn. "Perhaps, sadness."
Once again a lie was told to her, if her name brought happiness she wouldn't be living in hell like this.
Hell?
Yeah, a hell of sorrow.
While she was lost in her thoughts, she suddenly heard a scream.
"EZLYN! EZYLN!"
She quickly got up from the chair, her bare feet running out of the room and then down the stairs. She doesn't care about herself who might fall down the stairs.
She kept running until she saw a man standing in the doorway of this palace-like mansion. The man took off the black suit he was wearing and threw it carelessly.
Ezlyn stopped running, she tried to control her panting breath. "You're home."
"What took you so long?! Are you deaf huh?!" shouted the man at Ezlyn, his wife.
Marlon Ryker.
Yes, the man with black hair, a sharp nose, and a handsome face is Ezlyn's husband who is also the owner of this palace-like mansion.
He is one of the owners of the largest company in this city with very abundant wealth, has a collection of sports cars, and his face often graces magazines because of the success he has achieved. Also because of all that makes a lot of women like him.
Who would not like a man with a handsome face and wealth?
Ezlyn lowered her head. "I'm sorry..." said Ezlyn who then looked down to pick up her husband's suit which was lying on the floor.
Marlon rolled his eyes. "Prepare dinner for me. I am hungry," said Marlon who then walked away past Ezlyn just like that.
Ezlnyn nodded. "I'll prepare it..." said Ezlyn who immediately walked to the kitchen to prepare dinner.
...
There was the clanking of knives and forks from the dining room, more precisely at the dining table with a man sitting at the dining table. He put the meat in his mouth and chewed it slowly.
Meanwhile, beside the dining table, a woman stood with a nervous look on her face. You can even see the nervousness on her pretty face.
"You cooked this?" asked Marlon.
Ezlyn nodded. "Yes, I cooked it," replied Ezlyn.
Marlon didn't say anything but went back to cutting and eating the meat. Seeing this, Ezlyn immediately felt relieved and smiled.
The reason Ezlyn was nervous it's because she was worried that the food she made for Marlon would not taste good. She was worried that her husband didn't like the dinner she had made.
But her nervousness was unfounded because what she was worried about didn't happen.
Then why didn't Ezlyn sit at the dining table with Marlon?
Because Marlon didn't want Ezlyn to sit at the dinner table with him. For Marlon, Ezlyn was not his wife but nothing more than a maid in his mansion.
A fortune teller had told Ezlyn before her wedding that she would be treated like a queen and her husband would love her so much. But then again, all those words were just a lie that made her wish for something that would never happen.
Lie.
Lie.
Lie
Why is this world always full of lies?
Like her marriage which has been nothing more than a sweet lie that has deceived many people out there that she is very happy with her married life.
But in reality, Ezlyn is very unhappy with her married life which is always filled with sadness. How many more lies did she have to hear?
So that Marlon, her husband could love her just a little.
Ezlyn kept an eye on Marlon who was eating the dinner she had made. Ezlyn made Marlon's favorite food with all her heart and she knew very well that Marlon loved egg rolls, which she had served on the dining table as well.
Marlon saw the egg rolls on the dining table, he took the egg rolls and ate them. Ezlyn stared at Marlon, hoping her husband would show some reaction she was expecting, but...
PRANG!
"SHIT! DO YOU WANT TO KILL ME HUH?!" shouted Marlon angrily, breaking the glass.
Ezlyn quivered in surprise at Marlon's angry shout at her. "W-what's wrong?" asked Ezlyn in a slightly trembling voice.
Marlon stood up from the dining table and walked over to Ezlyn. "You're still asking?! Are you giving me this salty food on purpose?!"
"Salty?" stammered Ezlyn. "I-I made the egg rolls to your liking."
GRAB
Marlon gripped Ezlyn's arm so violently that it made Ezlyn wince. "If you still want to stay in this mansion, at least make yourself useful!" shouted Marlon.
THUD!
"Ahhh!" Ezlyn groaned in pain when Marlon pushed her down on the cold tiled floor quite hard.
But Marlon didn't care about Ezlyn's groans of pain, Marlon just stood staring at Ezlyn angrily.
Ezlyn thought her tears had dried but she was wrong because now tears were running down her cheeks. "Sob... sob... you hurt me..."
She was hurt by Marlon's rude attitude toward her, it hurts.
Marlon looked down. "Do I look concerned? Look, I never loved you. I even wished you disappeared from my life," said Marlon who then walked away from the dining room.
Leaving Ezlyn alone and crying in a very quiet dining room. Only the sound of her crying filled the silence of the dining room.
This is... hell.
The hell of sorrow that doesn't know when it will end.
Happiness they said, what kind of nonsense is that? For her happiness only exists in a fairy tale, not in real life.
Ezlyn clenched her fists. "Sob... I love you... sob... but you make me want to die because of my love for you..." said Ezlyn as her tears fell on the floor.
