Chapter 6 - SECOND CHANCE

Death.

It is a thing that is full of mysteries, no one knows when death will come but death is something that all living things on this earth will feel without exception. And that's what happened to a woman named...

Ezlyn Strom.

No one had ever thought that death would come to her so quickly, nor did anyone expect that she would die in such a gruesome manner. But just like death, rebirth is also a thing full of mysteries no one knows that opportunity will be given to who is entitled to it.

But it seems that opportunity has been given to someone...

A woman was lying on the green grass under a cherry blossom tree that was so beautiful. The two eyes were tightly closed, letting the wind blow coolly against the woman's face.

The atmosphere that surrounded the woman was so calm with the occasional sound of birds chirping one another and suddenly...

"NOOOOO!"

Her previously closed eyes suddenly opened wide, and the woman's breath was panting as her heart was beating fast. Her temples were covered in a cold sweat with both of the woman's hands shaking slightly.

A few seconds had passed, and her breathing was slowly getting regular but she felt something strange. She raised her hands and then looked at her hands with a facial expression that was difficult to explain. "I'm still alive?"

She then turned her head looked around, and didn't know where She was. There was also no one there which made her feel even more confused.

Why would she be here?

Why is she still breathing?

Her eyes then looked ahead and she saw a lake right in front of her. She slowly stood up, her bare feet walking on the grass slowly approaching the lake in front of her. Finally, she was right in front of the lake.

Slowly she sat on the edge of the lake and that's when she saw the reflection of her face on the lake water which was so calm and clear. Her eyes were wide open, she couldn't believe what she was seeing.

She raised her hands, feeling her face with her trembling hands. "N-no... this can't be..." she stammered.

That hazel eyes...

That nose...

That lips...

And that face.

"I-I... was back to life again..." she said in a trembling voice and fell backward.

Ezlyn Storm returned to life and was given a second chance by being rebirth when she was still 20-years-old. She was the lucky one to get the chance to be rebirth in this world from the millions of people who wished for that luck.

But it was she who was chosen to get a second chance and was able to live once again with her 20-year-old self again.

Ezlyn slowly returned to the edge of the lake and again saw her reflection in the lake. Once again, Ezlyn felt her face confirm that what she was seeing right now was reality.

And she still gets the same answer, if she has been a rebirth.

Ezlyn froze for a moment. "This is real... t-this is real!" shouted Ezlyn at the edge of the lake.

September 21, Ezlyn Storm is rebirth.

...

Life is always full of mysteries.

That's what people have been saying all along and that's what's happening now. A real proof that Ezlyn has got a second chance to live in this world.

Her bare feet walked on the asphalt, ignoring the people who looked at her with strange and astonished eyes. Ezlyn kept walking until she saw a convenience store, Ezlyn stopped her steps.

Ezlyn saw her reflection in the convenience store's mirror. No matter how many times she looked in the mirror, what she saw was the same which is her face 9 years ago when she was 20-years-old.

Ezlyn patted her cheek a few times. "It's really me..." muttered Ezlyn still not believing what she saw.

To the extent that Ezlyn did not realize that she was currently the center of attention of people who walked past the convenience store. Even some of them might have thought Ezlyn was crazy.

"Hmm... excuse me miss."

Ezlyn turned her head and immediately saw a woman who was quite older than her. "Yes, ma'am?" said Ezlyn.

"What are you doing here, young lady?" asked the woman who then looked at Ezlyn's feet. "Why don't you wear shoes? Your feet will be cold," said the woman worriedly.

Ezlyn turned her head, she looked back at the mirror and her current appearance looked very terrible. She was wearing a plain white dress that looked a little dirty with her legs not wearing anything, so her feet looked dirty too.

Anyone who saw her would think she was crazy or a tramp.

"I-I..." stuttered Ezlyn.

"Wait a minute, I'll be back," said the woman.

The woman walked back into the convenience store leaving Ezlyn behind. It doesn't take long, the woman returned with a plastic bag in her right hand and she still saw Elzyn standing there waiting for her.

The woman immediately walked over to Ezlyn. "Wear this..." she said, taking out a slipper from the plastic bag and placing it in front of Ezlyn's feet.

Ezlyn was surprised. "Ma'am, you don't need to buy me this," said Ezlyn feeling embarrassed.

The woman shook her head. "It's okay, please wear those sandals. So you don't hurt your feet and you don't get cold."

Ezlyn also wore those sandals, then the woman took out a piece of bread and a bottle of water from the plastic bag. "Here, take it. You haven't eaten right?" besides buying sandals, the woman also bought food and drinks for Ezlyn, very kind.

Ezlyn shook her head. "Ma'am, you don't need to give me this, you already bought me sandals," said Ezlyn feeling bad and having troubled the woman.

The woman smiled and took Ezlyn's hands, giving her bread and a bottle of water to Ezlyn. "Take it... it's sustenance and you can't refuse it," she said, then smiled.

Who says there are no good people in this world? Because in front of her at this time, Ezlyn met a good person who had helped her voluntarily. It is proof, that in this world there are still good people even though you rarely find them.

And that means, there is still hope as long as the earth is still spinning.

Ezlyn thanked the woman a few times for her kind treatment of Ezlyn until finally, the woman walked away from there leaving Ezlyn with a piece of bread and a bottle of water in her hands.

...

The wind was blowing hard enough to make Ezlyn's long black hair fly as well as the cherry blossom tree which is her current shelter. The flowers occasionally fell beside Ezlyn because of the wind.

Yes, Ezlyn returned to the place where she opened her eyes and found herself rebirth.

It was very hard for her to believe, especially after the fatal accident she had that cost her her life. She even clearly remembers how the truck hit her.

It's terrible... very terrible. Time seemed to stop and everything seemed to be in slow motion at that moment.

Ezlyn thought that her life was over but not because fate had said otherwise and wanted her to come back alive once again.

Ezlyn didn't know what to feel, should she feel happy or feel sad?

Ezlyn looked down at the piece of bread that she placed on her thigh. Ezlyn opened the wrapper and ate it slowly, her hazel eyes stared straight at the lake in front of her, those eyes looked confused.

She didn't know where to go...

She has no purpose.

That's why Ezlyn returned to where she first woke up because she didn't know where to go with her rebirth self. Everyone knew she had died in a fatal crash.

People would have been very surprised and thought she was a liar if she had come back alive and was a rebirth. No one would believe her if she said that.

Ezlyn rubbed her face. "What should I do?" muttered Ezlyn sadly.

Ezlyn just sat quietly under the cherry blossom tree for a while until she suddenly remembered something, that made her suddenly stand up and walk through the garden.

Ezlyn's eyes looked to each side of the garden like she was looking for something until she finally found what she was looking for.

Ezlyn run. "Excuse me... excuse me sir," said Ezlyn to a man with glasses who sat on a park bench alone.

The man lifted his bowed head and he immediately saw the figure of a beautiful woman standing in front of him. "Yes? Can I help you?"

"Hmmm... may I know what time it is sir?" asked Ezlyn politely.

"Oh, sure," the man looked at the clock on his phone screen. "It's half past ten now."

Ezlyn was silent for a moment. "Then, what date is it sir?" asked Ezlyn a second time.

The man put his cellphone in his trouser pocket. "Ah, today is September twenty-one," the man replied with a smile on his face.

Ezlyn froze upon hearing the man's answer, leaving the man confused. "Thank you... thank you sir," said Ezlyn, which was replied to by a nod by the man.

Then Ezlyn walked away from the man with her legs slowly increasing her pace until she finally ran.
