"It's rare for you to call me out for lunch," Lucian said taking his seat.
Xavier smiled, "It's because I don't like you," he said.
"Then why did you call me out?" he asked making his order.
"I want to know why your parents have been treating your sister like an outcast all these years," Xavier said making eye contact with Lucian, "And why you money every stupid request they tell you to do "
Lucian frowned, "I have never asked them, they were not always like that it just happened "
"How did it happen?"
My parents were always loving and kind I still remember Dad's excitement when Mom announced it was a girl. They had always wanted one, so when she was pregnant with Liana they were happy.
Liana was born and the house was full of joy and laughter, they loved her but then on her third birthday Dad woke up to her screams, and they rushed to her room worried something was wrong.
I was there when mom carried Liana out of her crib, her hair had turned bloody red, the way it is now. Liana's appearance changed completely it was like a snake shedding its skin. Her body seemed to be decaying but then changed back to normal again.
Her blue eyes turned to black, Liana who was crying suddenly stopped and looked up with little giggles at the scared face of our mother.
They took her to church the next day and the priest said she had been possessed by something evil, they passed her through all kinds of torture claiming the evil spirit would leave her body.
Liana knew only pain and torture until her seventh birthday when they finally gave up. Her hair and eyes never returned to normal which drove mom mad. She had always wanted a daughter and now that she had one, she was possessed.
She used to cry alone at night and young Liana would try to comfort her since she wanted to feel her mother's warmth too. But Mom pushed her away claiming she wasn't her daughter.
I tried my best to be there for her but my parents always found ways to separate us. They would act like they loved us equally in front of others but behind closed doors it was different. But with time they started to notice and my parents decided not to pretend anymore.
Liana always stood out, her red hair and black intimidating eyes made it impossible not to notice her. So my parents sent her to boarding school aboard and when she returned Liana decided to break away from us and finally be independent.
They didn't object but when she wanted to date someone they would threaten them to leave her alone. They claimed she would destroy our family name if they found out what she was. Only when it was beneficial to their business did they introduce her to partners.
"And the incident with her boyfriend William, why did you get involved?" Xavier asked.
"Like you said I obeyed my parent's orders, so I guess you know why I was involved. They got fed up with seeing her exist and wanted her to die. I pleaded but they still forced me to " he said.
"So they hate her for being different," he said.
"They hate her 'cause she turned out to be something else from what they expected. Her blue eyes and blond hair disappeared which was the most significant trait of our family ".
" You betrayed your sister when you joined them to kill her, she loves you so much and was willing to die for you but this is what she gets in return. You even tried the second time not feeling guilt at all " Xavier muttered.
"You think I sleep at night after what I did to her? Her smile and trust when she looks at me every day drive me crazy with guilt" he said.
"The only way you will feel better is by telling her the truth. It will hurt her more when she finds out from someone else " said Xavier.
"I will but not right now," he said.
Xavier chuckled, "The longer it takes for you to tell her the harsher she will be when she finds out. This is what got for not telling her about meeting your parents," he said rubbing the now healing cut on his cheek.
"Liana did that?" Lucian's voice was filled with fear and surprise asked.
Xavier nodded, "I remember clearly what she said, I love you but I want to stab you right now " he repeated Liana's words.
"I thought you were immortal or something, how did she do that to you " Lucian laughed.
"Exactly ask yourself that if she could hurt me who is special then what about you?" Xavier said.
The smile on Liana's brother's vanished, he stood up, "Am going to see my sister right now, thanks for lunch" he said leaving Xavier alone at the table.
