"I can't see the spark, the radiance that surrounds you when I first encountered you, Invictus! What can you do all by yourself?!"
Jorp must have hit his head or Invictus must have kicked him hard for his comprehension to become low. He was not getting what Invictus was explaining to him and kept repeating the same question over and over again.
Jorp was on all fours, weak and unable to fight back after throwing up a couple of times now.
"Telling you how I'll achieve my goals will just go inside from one ear and left to another. So, let me show you this."
Invictus tightly grabbed Jorp by his hair, lifting his head up to see what he was about to do. In his hand was his weapon, his short sword, catching Jorp's attention as the tip slowly crept on Invictus' neck.
"If you blink, you will not see what I am about to do. Therefore, keep your eyes open. I'll only do this once since it sure will hurt like a bitch."
Invictus was about to inflict pain on himself, something he does not usually do, for getting hurt was something he does not want to tolerate.
However, he has high pain tolerance despite disliking the idea of hurting himself. Moreover, what he was about to do will become the most insane thing he will do to himself.
"What?" Jorp muttered, gritting his teeth in pain caused by having his hair tweaked.
The man in front of him was kneeling on one knee, his short sword starting to cut through his flesh, thus blood gradually gushing out of the wound.
"Hey, hey!" He bawled his eyes in surprise at the crazy display of actions
Invictus was showing to Jorp. "This man's really out of his mind!"
"Shh!"
Even if he was in excruciating pain as the blade cleanly slit his throat, Invictus still found the strength to hush Jorp down and sinisterly grinned.
"Did losing your family really make you mad?!"
'Is this what true madness looks like? Compared to Invictus, I was just a drizzle in the serene lake while he was and will always be the thunderstorm that will wreak havoc and cause hurricanes in the ocean.'
Any more of Invictus' madness might really turn Jorp into a crazy lunatic killer who seeks pleasure in killing people.
'But... wasn't I the same as him? I feel extremely good when I know that I am superior to someone. So, how am I different from him?'
"Ahhhhh!!!"
Invictus' grip loosened, more blood gushed out of his slit neck, and all of his strength immediately left his body. He went limp, turning into a vegetable, lifeless and soaking in his own blood.
Once Invictus' blood was shed and his regeneration ability processed to heal his wounds, the wasted blood will not suddenly float to put itself back inside Invictus' body as he recovered.
All the blood he lost will also be regenerated once his healing factor occurs. Everything that is lost in him will be created once again out of thin air, strengthening and producing a better result.
It means that the more Invictus gets hurt or wounded, his limbs torn, the stronger and more durable he gets. However, it will not make him a rock-hard human or an ironman where weapons barely have any effects on him.
"Is he dead? What the— did he just kill himself?"
Jorp went to check if Invictus really did off himself without any reason. By putting his index and middle finger together, he placed them on Invictus' pulse on his wrist.
"Truly mad..." He whispered his unfiltered thought, "this guy is the embodiment of absolute madness."
A minute had passed. Jorp was waiting for Invictus to abruptly get up, alive and kicking when Invictus' finger flicked.
"No way!"
Invictus was lying on his stomach, his wound was not visible from Jorp's perspective, so he did not witness how Invictus' neck slowly stitched its flesh together again until the man himself got up and let Jorp in on some fun.
"Regenerative ability?! No, it's more than that! Are you serious?! You're... immortal?!"
In the old inscriptions, it was written that only the favored and chosen by gods were granted different transcendent powers. The abilities, magic, and skills they received varied from who they received the blessings.
These powers given to the chosen and favored people by gods brought pandemonium, and wars here and there, to the point where they nearly destroyed the whole world. All civilizations were buried, and the people of this world had to start from scratch and rebuild their kingdoms once again.
Realizing their mistake, the gods swore to never meddle with people's affairs anymore by bringing in more cataclysm in the world they built. The only way to involve themselves with the people of their world was through blessings in churches dedicated to their names and by distributing magic and skills to newborns.
Lucky are those people born with both magic and skill because the common type of people are those born only with either magic or skill.
No known figure in the past had been recorded as granted immortality. There are actually rules written by the gods and goddesses.
"A man shall not try to fly towards the sun, for it will scorch your wings, and burn you to the ground."
"Eternal life shan't be upon man's reach, for they might endanger all life's existence."
The goddess of time and space was aware of this rule. Granting Invictus partial immortality was the best she could do. In the end, she still does not want to start the end of everything.
"I-If you are immortal... does that mean the gods and goddesses will target you now?"
Jorp now can't help but believe everything about Invictus. The latter's goals were absolutely possible to achieve. In fact, he does not need others to help with his goals. Even if he does it alone, Invictus will definitely destroy Estaria and exact vengeance on its people.
