"Fool, those deities do not watch over us anymore. They abandoned their
people a long time ago. But... becoming their target to put an end to me isn't impossible to happen."
Invictus offered a hand to Jorp, pulling the man, who was still in a state of utmost shock, up.
"I haven't agreed to work with you or become your pawn. But I'm willing to listen to what you have to say."
"I'm glad that I don't have to resort to violence again, Jorp, just to make you comply."
"What sort of evil schemes do you have in your mind if I resisted?!"
"Things you would wish you didn't know. You'd hope that you could comply as soon as you can."
A tool, accomplice, pawn, disposable hand, state whatever you desire here, but Invictus' trust will be hard to earn. He might even never trust anyone again because of the people that dared take advantage of it
"Always onward towards better things."
Haven City was plunged into chaos and bloodbath every night. No one was safe except for those whose doors were locked. Bloodthirsty killers, sex offenders, and every wicked and vile type of person to ever exist can be found in the city, roaming at night.
They are trying to kill each other, putting blades against their opponents' necks, slitting their throats, and looting them for money.
In the middle of the main road, where blood was constantly flowing from
several dead people stood a group of men with muffled breathing.
Two factions decided to end things between each other. A faction consists of a large number of criminals who joined hands to rule over Haven City. So far, there are ten factions ruling ten regions of the city.
Among these ten factions, two of them came tonight to settle matters with each other. The winning faction will either consume the remaining members of the losing faction or let them join to increase their manpower.
"Eusebio, this is as far as you can go!"
The war between the two factions was coming to a close. Eusebio's men had been captured, some were killed, and others were delivered for "consumption."
Two faction leaders can't coexist because surely they don't share the same ideals and plans regarding the reign over Haven City and their constituents. Sharing the same ideas, future propositions for Haven City, and how well they can handle it, will be the only time they can coexist.
The co-existence of two faction leaders in one is not uncommon but it is not also common. It's something between the lines.
"I ain't trapped here but you guys are!"
[Myriad of Flames] (Or Sea Clouds of Blazing Fire) was Eusebio's ultimate, if not a signature, spell where clouds of scorching red flames extricate from Eusebio's body.
Flame magic users may have heat resistance to themselves, therefore, withstanding a great deal of searingly hot flames. However, it does not mean that these flame users will not be affected even by their own fire if confronted by their magic.
Whilst Eusebio was releasing more and more scorching flames, the other faction leader, Bethel, had already cast his skill called "shield."
"Yes, you've trapped yourself in your own flames, Eusebio!"
Bethel caught Eusebio in his skill "Shield," trapping the man inside while he continuously released searingly hot clouds of flame.
"You fucker!"
Once cast, Eusebio will be unable to cancel until all of his reserved mana fuels up his magic ability. In an enclosure, Eusebio was punching on the sturdy barrier as his clothes and himself, although fire resistant, began to feel his own madness.
"Bethel, please!"
They were fighting each other to survive. So, death is the last thing they want to happen to them while each of them is trying to achieve their goals.
Eusebio collapsed on his knees, begging as he pounded his hands on the barrier that was trapping him inside with his raging magic ability. His face says his utmost desire to live was far greater than the lives of his underlings.
"Maintaining my skill in use is... draining!"
Bethel's comrades might not see it but the man was doing his best not to let his shield melt in the scorching heat. He had both of his fists clenched tight. Once he lets go of it, the "shield" will break and Eusebio will be set free.
"I'll... I will do anything! Just... please, let me go, Bethel! I beg of you!"
The man broke down in tears, yet his eyes did not shed any due to the high heat wildly going on inside Bethel's "shield."
"Have you forgotten, Eusebio? Our ideals and propositions have no alignment with each other whatsoever."
"Haha..."
With two totally different goals in and for Haven City, one of them must go meet their end and the other will come out victorious, earning the constituent of the losing faction.
All of Eusebio's hopes burn along with his own reflection in the barrier, his goals crumbling to pieces, and his life-shattering as cracks gradually tore him into smithereens.
"Is this really how things are gonna end?"
Eusebio's men were yelling for their leader while those holding them captives guffawed as their hope turned to ashes at the stake. To die on your own mistakes, unable to attain the goals you have in life,
achievements that are once received, will surely bring joy and peace of
mind.
Together with the death of their leader, Eusebio, came along with their demise. Their chests were stabbed, piercing them through their heart, which gave them a quick and conservative way of preserving their victims.
"In the end, Eusebio did not even utter a single groan! However, the outcome of our fight is fantastic! We have earned so much for our "consumption," guys!"
By "consume," "consuming," or "consumption," they mean to turn everyone into money. Each part of the human body is a valuable piece for the man nicknamed "butcher."
