Chapter 1 - Prologue

"Tell us the story of the Underground, Grandpa!"

Grandpa chuckled. "Now frisk, don't you want to hear a different story? Like how I met your grandmother, or my service in the military."

"We've already heard those stories, like, a bunch of times! Do the underground! Pleeeease!" Frisk pleaded.

"We've heard that story so many times you can recite every word! Lets do a different story." Skyler pointed out. honestly, Skyler thought it was cute how her sister mooned over the story like candy, but her pride refused to let her admit it.

"Well, I guess we can do the Underground story, but only because it's your 5th birthday Frisk. Now, how did it start again?" Grandpa thought for a moment. "Ah, right. Long ago, two species lived on the surface of the world. But one day, the king decided that humans were safer without monsters. Mainly because the monsters not only had magic, but if they had gotten their hands on a human soul, they would have unfathomable power. So he declared war on the monsters. And then when the monsters were forced to surrender, the king gathered the best wizards in the land, and sealed the monsters underground with a spell that could only be opened with 7 human souls. Unfortunately that took all the soul power they had left. Yet before they died, they left a prophecy. 'The angle, the one who's seen the surface, will fall down and-"

"And stop my father from telling my children stories so they can have their dinner." Mom said, placing lasangia on the table. "Come on Frisk, it's dinner time. you too Skyler."

"Aaaw. Five more minutes?" Frisk asked.

"Lets go." Skyler got up and helped up Frisk before helping Grandpa.

When they sat down, Frisk asked Grandpa "What did the prophecy mean?"

Grandpa was about to specify, but then Mom cut him off. "Dad, i don't want you telling them stories, it could be a bad influence on Skyler's grades. And she's struggling already."

"Mom, it was just one B." Skyler defended.

"And your usual is an A. I'm worried for you, Skyler." Mom defended.

"So what is my grades aren't perfect? At least it's not an F." Skyler bit back.

"And the more grades like that you get, the less chance of you getting a good job to support yourself in the future." Mom worried.

"I'm in middle school, Mom! I have years to worry about that!" Skyler glared her sharpest glare.

"Yes, but you should be doing your best!" Mom said raising her voice.

"What's getting better grades going to do? Make Dad come back?"

"SKYLER!" Mom stood up glaring daggers. Silence fell across the room, Frisk sinking father down her seat. Mom took a sharp breath before saying harshly "Go to your room."

"What? Mom-!"

"I SAID GO TO YOUR ROOM!"

Skyler stood up and walked down the hallway to her room and slammed the door. She stomped over to her bed and laid down, wrapping the blankets over her. Why WOULD Dad come back? she wouldn't even want to be herself. Around 40 minutes later, frisk came in and laid down on her bed. both her and Skyler heard grandpa say "you sent and invitation and he still didn't come?"

"I don't know what to do. It's obviously effecting Skyler, what if it starts effecting Frisk too?!"

"Everything will be okay, Frisk. Everything will be okay, I promise."

"Yeah, your right... I hope..."

All they heard then was silence. Then frisk asked "Skyler, you'll never leave, right?"

"Frisk? why would you even think that? I'd never leave you. Not in a million years." Skyler said.

"Promise?"

"What?"

"Do you promise to never leave?"

"Frisk, I promise that we will always be together no matter what."
