[Dual mana circulation complete]
[Carla Von Revstein's mana has improved slightly]
[Your mana has increased by 20 units]
[Runes have been implemented on Carla von Revstein]
That's new. I did not know that these effects would apply here as well. What I performed on Carla was an inferior version of body cleansing. Body cleansing was a method to clean the body of a person of impurities using Ki. Since Ki can be considered an aggressive form of energy, its effects are aggressive as well. The pain felt during body cleansing is excruciating as Ki does not only attack and expel impurities but also has an aggressive effect on internal organs and Ki veins.
But none of that happened. I guess mana is entirely different from Ki and the way I use it is even more unique. I use mana the way I used to use Ki. In other words, my methods are only known to me, and they can amplify mana's effects by a lot. Mana is smooth, if I circulate the way Ki is circulated, the effects are slow but there is no danger to one's internals. What I did not expect was for it to benefit me too. I wonder what would happen if I dual-circulate mana using the dual cultivation techniques where two types of different elemental Ki's are inside the same body with complete harmony. The only problem is, there is only one type of mana I have encountered so far. I will have to look into it later as it could be useful.
Carla's body is now a bit smoother as the bed under her is now stained with dark fluid. Her face is now without any dark circles, and she looks completely refreshed. I guess that did the trick. I did keep doing it for 3 hours. Runes are completely embedded too. And where ten percent is not much for me, for her ten percent is a lot. I can feel her mana pool has increased massively. Her body has undergone some changes too. Her skin has now become milkier than before, and she looks like she has become a few years younger.
I ran a complete check with my mana on her body again and found that she was now in perfect health. I am sure her mind must have been nourished by mana as well. While I was checking her, she squirmed a bit and then slowly woke up. She opened her eyes and saw me, but she just lay there for some time. Then she sat up with one hand on her dress so it would not fall and fixed her dress. After she was done, she noticed the filth on her body and around her, but she still did not say anything.
After some time, she checked her situation and from what I think, ran an internal checkup of herself using her mana with her eyes closed. Her closed eyes flinched every now and then and this went on for a few minutes. She slowly opened her eyes and looked at me and even though there were a lot of questions she wanted to ask, she first said, "I am fine now, Michael. Thank you for treating me."
So, she knew. I had noticed it the moment I entered the room and looked at her. And I further confirmed it via the system and also by running my mana through her. And the filth that came from her body, didn't only contain impurities. It was darker than usual. She was poisoned. But that's what makes me angry. Why wouldn't she do anything if she knew? I lowered my head and said, "Who did it?" There was nothing but coldness in my voice, but she still smiled sweetly and said, "Sometimes, there is not only one victim."
"Who cares. Whoever it is, it does not matter to me. All I know is that my mother was poisoned. I don't know about the circumstances of the one who poisoned you, but what I do know is that my mother was harmed. And I don't care about the reasons." I didn't lift my head and said in a calm voice. I didn't have to yell to get my point across. I only needed to let her know what was about to happen and that I wouldn't show any mercy regardless of the reason. I simply stood up and said, "Take a bath and rest mother. I have some things to do."
I didn't wait for her to say anything and started walking towards the door. But before I could leave, she said, "We are humans Michael. Mercy is what keeps us that way." I closed the door behind me and started walking toward my room. Cynthia must have returned by now and I need her to do something for me.
I'm sorry mother but I am not a benevolent person. I judge evil. Lesser, middle, or greater. Mercy only hinders my job.
Victims have more than one choice. Just like she could have let someone know but didn't. She made her choice. The other victim made his choice too. And now is the time for the consequences.

3rd person Pov:
Carlos had started working as a chef in the Revstein mansion a year ago. He was good at his work and liked by everyone else. He blended in with everyone perfectly and was serious with his work. If there was one problem with him, it was that he was too tense. There were times when he would get really tense and start sweating. Everyone thought that it was a problem he had and ignored it.
Today was also just like any other day. He had made and delivered the dinner to the members of the family he was assigned to. He had done his task perfectly and was now cleaning up and getting ready to leave. "Leave the cleaning for newbies and go get some rest. You already work more than any of us. It's not good for your health." Carlos looked at his fellow chef who had told him about his health.
Carlos just smiled in return to the chef, whose name he couldn't remember no matter what. So, he just smiled and said, "It's okay. They are still new. I don't want them to mess up and increase my workload. It's better if I do it myself." The chef heard Carlos and couldn't help but sigh. "You don't have to be so serious all the time. Trust the other with your work as well. You are always like this. Never letting others help you."
Carlos again smiled. Only outwardly though. Inside he was screaming for the Chef to leave but he had to keep this up to not stand out. He could not afford to stand out. Except for his achievements, if he does anything wrong, it would be dangerous for his mission. So, he said, "It's not a problem. Besides I'm done anya-"
Before he could finish, the door to the massive kitchen opened and a handsome boy walked in. When he entered, everyone's attention was drawn to him, and as soon as they saw who it was, everyone bowed and greeted him, "Welcome Young master Michael."
Michael looked around before returning the greeting while smiling and spoke. "Hello everyone. I am sorry for coming this late. I was just in my mother's room and because of sudden hunger, ate her leftovers and they were delicious. But I am still a bit hungry. And I am also craving that delicious food. May I know who made my mother's dinner and request him to make a portion for me too?" The smile on Michael's face was sweeter than the word sweet itself.
