Inside a spacious hall of the sun clan, decorated with golden embroideries. A celebration was currently being held.
One of the sun clans' members had just returned after being absent for quite a long time.
As trivial as it may seem initially, it was of the greatest importance to the sun clan. After all, it wasn't just any member of the sun clan. It was a rising star, a genius among geniuses. Whose magical abilities have already reached the apex.
At a relatively young age, he had accomplished an amazing feat of learning how to cast several ultra-high-tier spells in practically no time at all, which was simply unprecedented, even in the past history of the sun clan, just how many magicians could achieve such a feat?
Each spell all has their own ranks, similar to how each spirit sword all have their own unique ranking system in place that sets them apart from each other.
Magicians in the beginners' tiers could easily cast lower-ranked spells, such as flame bullets, thunderbolt, or wind blade.
However, spells that are in the upper tier such as, spirit severance, black lightning of annihilation, or even mothers embrace. Are all spells only high-ranked, or highly experienced mages could cast.
In eras of the distant past, some records of supreme prodigies who have achieved meritorious feats have managed to withstand the harsh passage of time, but witnessing such figures were extremely rare.
In this world, in this era, those who could cast high-levelled magic were all valued and regarded highly, they would be treated as prominent figures in clans and organizations. Even in some major kingdoms and ancient empires they would all be high-ranked experts in both military and political status.
It was simply unheard-of for a less experienced mage to handle those high-tier spells, which cost a tremendous amount of magic power control. Furthermore, the higher the rank of the spell, the more magical energy the user would have to expand for its activation.
It was because of this why he was able to achieve such a wondrous feat, as his magical energy reserve was also comparable to those races like the elves who were known to have an extremely large amount of energy.
Thus, many had great expectations for the young star. The sun clan was home to many young outstanding geniuses in the field of magic, each well renowned around the world.
The only clan of magicians who could compare with them are the clan of brilliant flames, who were known to be skilled in the manipulation of heat and held many powerful techniques of the fire type elemental magic, located in the Murano empire.
Even those of significant talents from the moon clan, who were known to be skilled at energy manipulation paled in comparison to many of the renowned sorcerers and sorceresses of the sun clan.
Mainly due to the magical technique of the sun clan, which is known for its adaptability in manipulation. There had been numerous conflicts over the years between the two clans when it came to who held the title of the strongest clan in the kingdom of Nahinil.
Since the recent decline of the dragon clan, who once held that position.
Although, it would be incredibly difficult to truly say which of the three clans were the strongest at the moment, as they each specialized in different techniques.
The dragon clan were the masters of the sword, the sun clan were the masters of flame type magic, and the moon clan were known to be unrivalled in the manipulation of spiritual energy.
Among the renowned sorcerers and sorceresses of the sun clan who had left quite an impression on the neighbouring kingdoms and empires around the world, was naturally Sir Arthur.
The younger brother of the current patriarch of the sun clan, and the youngest son of Elena's grandfather, the previous patriarch.
The hall bustled noisily, as a large gathering was being held. The scent of alcohol permeated the atmosphere as the sound of chatter and the hitting of glass resounded from all around.
"It's nice having you back, little brother." A handsome black-haired man who seemed to be in his mid-thirties said.
"Thank you, elder brother. I was out studying the literature left behind from the distant past on the topic of ancient magic in the kingdom of Altraus. I haven't shown myself around these parts as of late and decided to see how everyone has been since my absence." Laugh, a handsome young man with slightly long, shoulder length black hair.
He seems to be in his late twenties, approaching his early thirties. It was the younger brother of the current patriarch, Arthur.
"I hope you will settle down once in a while, brother. Both Ella and Elena have been wondering when you would return." Nikolaus said, with an exasperated sigh. Though, despite his words, his lips were curled upwards into a slight smile.
"Speaking of which, where are my nieces?" Arthur inquired, noticing the absence of the two girls, he glanced around the hall in search of them.
"Uncle!" At that moment, a soft, yet beautiful voice resounded. A gorgeous young lady clads in a black gown appeared from within the crowd with brisk, graceful steps.
Her glossy black hair was tied up in a bundle style, as she held a fan in her hand elegantly. It was naturally the older sister of Elena, Ella.
"Oh, little Ella, you have grown so much." Arthur said, his eyes widening in surprise. The last time he saw her, she was only small enough to fit comfortably on his shoulders.
"Hmph, of course, I've grown. Uncle, you have been away for a very long time after all." Ella retorted, proudly. At the same time, she closed her right eye as she hid the bottom portion of her mouth with the feather fan.
"Hahaha! I can see that your feistiness hasn't changed at all during these few years." Arthur said, laughing heartily. Ella smiled gently, and quickly ran into his embrace.
"Uncle, where have you been? What were you doing all these years away from the clan?" Ella asked in quick succession. Her voice was laced with undisguised curiosity.
"I'll tell you all about my travels later. But first, where is your sister?" He inquired, looking around.
"... I-I'm right here." A gentle voice echoed. The beautiful, alluring figure of Elena who had donned a red gown could easily capture anyone lucky enough to catch a glimpse of her gorgeous appearance.
Her graceful figure came from within the crowd of the members of the sun clan, who had gathered there. It seems she had run the entire way here, as her modest chest was heaving. She was slightly out of breath, panting hoarsely.
"Oh, it seems little Ella wasn't the only one who had grown. Little Elena has also become so unrecognizable." Said Arthur.
"Humph." Ella glances at her younger sister scornfully from the corners of her eyes, before turning away coldly.
"Uncle! I've missed you so much!" Elena exclaimed, running towards Arthur in a hurried manner. Ella snorted, and took a step back as Elena was embraced in the arms of Arthur.
Arthur caresses her cheeks tenderly as he hugged her, "Don't worry, I plan on staying a while longer this time." He said to reassure them.
"Huh, you're going to leave again?" Elena and Ella asked with an adorable pout on their lips. Arthur smiled awkwardly.
"Yes, I still have other things to take care of. I only came back here to check on how the situation of our clan is while I was away." He explained.
"On that note, I heard something happened between you and the youngest son of the Oblong family, care to tell me more?" Arthur's expression contorted into a frown as he asked.
"Ah, that's—" Elena struggled for words, her face stiffened as she felt the subtle seriousness in the voice of her uncle.
"That's right, brother. It was the attendant of the youngest son of the Oblong family that attacked Elena. According to what Ava reported, their attacks were all aimed to kill." The patriarch, Nikolaus said, his brow furrowing. His voice laced with killing intent as he recalled the recent events.
Harming one of the heirs of the sun clan naturally created a great grievance that not even the lofty moon clan could appease. This occurrence had also triggered the patriarch of the dragon clan, Cole dragon.
As a form of repentance, Cole demanded the right arm of the youngest heir, Lennox. He had personally removed his arm in a brutal fashion, making it so that even healing magic could not restore it for a long time.
The only method they could use was some secret technique that forcefully sowed the flesh back together, which would be a very painful process.
However, the matter naturally wasn't settled with just that, the Oblong family lost the support of the moon clan, which gave the Elrod family the opportunity to harass them.
However, Nikolaus wasn't satisfied with this conclusion, they had tried hurting his beloved daughter, he had wanted to destroy the Oblong family, but the king had prevented him from acting off his emotions alone.
As the head of the sun clan, one of the three major powers of the kingdom. His actions could easily affect the entire nation. Thus, he needed to take careful consideration in his actions. It would've been different if either Elena or Alan had actually died, but since they were both fine, he deemed it wasn't something worth stirring up further troubles.
Nevertheless, the action of the youngest heir couldn't be forgiven easily, as not only had he tried abusing the status of his family, but he had caused a great deal of trouble for them. As such, he was stripped of his title of "young master" and mercilessly discarded by his own father who was a very wise man.
Even though they had lost the support of the moon clan, they could rebuild their trust with enough time, so long as they weren't destroyed.
Lennox did not know that Elena or Alan was from any of the three noble clans, otherwise even he wouldn't have dared to act so aggressive and condescending against them.
Since they hadn't worn their noble robes with the crest of their noble clan, signifying their identities, it was impossible for anyone to assume they were the heirs of the sun clan or the dragon clan. Otherwise, it should've been impossible for them to wander around without any guards nearby.
Lennox naturally regretted his actions, how could he have possibly known they were the heirs of the sun clan and dragon clan, he felt aggrieved, as though he had suffered some kind of unjust.
"... I see." A cold light flickered in Arthur's eyes, as he murmured those words so low that no one could hear. A strong surge of murderous intent welled up within him.
"It's fine now, everything has already been settled, father." Elena said, noticing the sudden change in the atmosphere.
"How can you say that, Elena? Those bastards had put my precious daughter in such a dangerous position, it's only natural for them to repent with their lives." Nikolaus growled.
He was a very overprotective father after all. If not for the orders of the king, the Oblong family would've definitely ceased to exist already due to the foolish actions of the youngest heir.
"Hmph, father, wasn't it my dear sister the one who had separated from her guard? If anything, I feel the one who should be held accountable is the one who has decided to wander off unnoticed." Ella added with a sneer.
Elena glanced at her older sister with an annoyed frown, but she kept her silence. Indeed, it was her fault for wandering away without permission. Elena clenched her fist in guilt, 'I heard that Alan was also punished for this incident, as well.'
"Regardless of who's fault it was, it doesn't change the fact that you, the heir to the sun clan, had been put in danger. This matter will not be settled so easily." Nikolaus said sternly.
Their conversation had been heard by those listening from afar, the celebration which was filled with a friendly atmosphere until now immediately became heavy with tension, until—
"Is this kind of topic really something to be discussed at a celebration like this?" A gentle voice resounded; the owner of the voice was a young black-haired lady with alluring beauty.
A black dress woven from the finest silk clung around her curvy body. It was one of the top geniuses of the sun clan, Cassidy.
She blew out a puff of smoke from the pipe in her hand as she said, "It's been a long time, rising star. After being away for so long, I thought you had forgotten about this place."
"Of course not, it seems you haven't changed one bit, Cassidy, still as big as ever, I see." Arthur directed his gaze towards Cassidy's bosom as he smiled.
"It seems you've been away for so long that you've forgotten the pain I had inflicted upon you last time you made such a remark." Her rosy, red lips twitched, as her voice became colder, magical energy began to revolve around her slender figure.
Arthur's face became slightly pale as he recalled the last time, he had said something perverted to her, "Ahem, anyway, how has your brother been during these years, has he recovered from his illness?" Arthur said, changing the subject awkwardly.
At the sudden mention of her younger brother, Cassidy's expression became rather gloomy. "The illness he has isn't something that can be cured so easily. He hadn't shown any sign of waking up at all." She replied.
At that, both Elena and Ella frowned in disappointment, in their early childhood, they had both grown up with Cassidy's younger brother, Elti. However, he suddenly became infected with a rare illness that kept him asleep.
So far, there was no cure for this illness. Even those who were well versed in medical studies, and mages proficient in healing magic were unable to do anything.
"I see… That is rather unfortunate to hear. Once I go back to the kingdom of Altraus, I'll make sure to see if there is any mention of this illness in old literature left behind in the distant past." Arthur said, in a deep voice.
"I'd appreciate that, although I did do some research to find a cure, the kingdom of Altraus should have some ancient documents, I hope—" Cassidy's onyx-like eyes shone eagerly. There was hope for her little brother after all.
"On another note, why don't we have a magic battle? You know, for old times' sake." Arthur suddenly proposed.
"A magic battle, you say?" Cassidy's lips curled up in amusement.
"Our last battle ended in my defeat, but I'm confident I could surprise you this time." Arthur said with a confident smirk.
"Oh, really? Has the young genius grown so much that he believes he can stand up to me, I wonder?" From the tone of her voice, it was obvious she wasn't against this development.
"Of course I have, I just so happen to have learnt a few tricks while I was away."
"Oya, in that case, why don't you show me how much you've grown, young star."
'A magic battle between Uncle and Cassidy.' Elena's eyes sparkled in interest. It was a battle between two high-ranking mages who were both regarded as geniuses. Ella closed her hand-held fan with a loud flop.
"The academy is opening within a year; the crown prince will also be attending in the same year as me. If I'm going to marry him someday, I should prove myself as a competent wife worthy enough to marry royalty." She mumbled to herself. A strong determination suddenly welled up within her, this was a matter regarding her future, after all.
…
The group relocated to the training ground, normally used for magic training. In a wide and spacious battle ground. The spectators all stood from a far enough distance where they wouldn't be dragged into the battle between Arthur and Cassidy.
A young man, with short black hair who was also a member of the sun clan stood in the middle as the umpire.
"These are the rules, you are allowed to use high-level offensive spells but lower their lethality. We don't want you to accidentally harm anyone too severely. Is that clear?" He looked between both Arthur and Cassidy as he spoke.
"Of course."
"Fufufu, understood, I shall do my best not to go overboard." They both replied amicably.
"Okay, begin the match!" With that settled, he yelled, signalling the starting of the match.
At his signal, Cassidy made the first move, without changing her posture, multiple magic formations silently appeared around her. They all glowed with resplendent light.
Suddenly, multiple bolts of cackling lightning shot out of the magic formation, they hurled towards Arthur at rapid speed. Cassidy's abilities as a mage made it possible for her to use high-tier spells without the need for an incantation, as such her attacks were simply too fast to follow.
However, as the bolts of lightning came within reach of Arthur, all their trajectory suddenly veered off course, as though they were being drawn into another direction.
BOOOOOM!
The bolts of lightning all impacted against the ground, gouging out the earth and raising a cloud of dust in the process. The spectators were all shocked and left wide-eyed. They were speechless.
"Wh-What, what did you do, Arthur?" Cassidy asked, her voice laced with undisguised surprise. She was certain all her attacks were on point.
It would be one thing if he had done something to hinder her attacks, but she was certain he hadn't done anything. He also didn't use any type of defensive spells to fend off her attack magic. Arthur smirked as he responded.
"There is no need to be so surprised, I merely used gravity magic, to alter their trajectory, gravitational spatial dome."
The gravitational energy in the surroundings began to twist and bend space, with a mighty pressure. "Gravitational spatial dome" As the name implies, creates a powerful gravitational field within a certain area.
Everything within the range of the high concentration gravitational field was at the mercy of the caster. It was an ultra-high-tier spell. Even a high-tier spell such as "black lightning of annihilation" Naturally couldn't withstand a spell of such magnitude.
"Gravity magic, such a thing actually existed?" She gasps. It wasn't as if she had never heard of its existence before. But until now, magic that was capable of manipulating the concepts of gravity and space were known to be impossible for humans.
Nikolaus was also left speechless from this shocking revelation. He had thought the advanced magic already known to humans was the highest it could go. But now, he had just learnt that there was even greater elemental magic out there. In a way, his surprise was only natural.
After all, those were magic only special individuals who had received the blessings of the goddesses could handle, in other words, the demi-gods.
"I call upon the power of the earth, trimmer!" Arthur stomped his feet onto the ground, creating a violent shockwave which spread out across the surroundings. The ground cracked and split out, attempting to swallow Cassidy.
"Tch. Air burst!" With a click of her tongue, Cassidy released a sudden blast of wind from her palm, aiming her attack towards the ground, propelling her into the air. Seeing that, Arthur's lips curled upwards.
'As expected of you.' He thought.
"I must say, you have definitely improved. However, beating me will take far more than that!" Cassidy yelled, as her body began its descent.
"Heh, why don't you use stronger spells, against my current self, those high-tier offensive spells are useless. Why not try something with more force behind it?" Arthur suggested. His lips were curled into a confident smile. His body radiated a divine aura no mortal should have.
"Very well. Let's see how you deal with the secret techniques of our sun clan!" Cassidy said, as she landed gracefully a few meters away. Then with a grin, she glanced upwards at the sun shining in the distant sky.
With a deep breath, she promptly began her incantation, "Burn all those who wish to oppose me, reduce their flesh to dust. So that not even a trace of their remains is left behind." As she spoke, a three-layer magic formation appeared, glowing with dazzling golden light.
The sun overhead shone brilliantly, but the temperature suddenly increased to empower her spell. It was a spell that absorbed heat from the sun to create a devastating attack. Naturally, the hotter the sun, the stronger the spell.
"Oh, you're going to convert the sun's heat into magic power?" Arthur raised an eyebrow, hearing the incantation he was so familiar with. The spell she was activating wasn't something to underestimate.
If someone wasn't prepared, they could easily lose their life with a direct hit. It was a spell which released a concentrated heat ray, it was in the class of annihilation type magic.
The umpire watching a short distance away furrowed his brow in concern. He was slightly unsettled. This magic was simply too strong for a friendly match. "It's alright, let her do it." Just as he was about to intervene, Arthur stopped him with a grin.
The image of an illusory sun suddenly appeared behind Cassidy. It channelled solar energy into the magic formation, empowering it to an absurd degree. Beads of sweat trickled down her brow, this spell took a great deal of magic power control to activate, one wrong move and she could face a severe backlash capable of reducing her own body to dust.
"Secret art! Flames of annihilation!" Cassidy yelled, firing a blast of searing hot flame towards Arthur. The flame illuminated the surroundings, as an intense heat washed across the arena. Even those watching from afar started sweating from the sudden rise in temperature.
"H-Hey, is uncle really going to be okay, father?" Elena asked in a panic. Her face paled, feeling the sudden rise in temperature. Ella kept her silence, but it was obvious she was also worried about her uncle from the slight frown on her face.
"Since he allowed her to use it. He must have some kind of method of dealing with the attack, but…" Nikolaus was also concerned, among the secret techniques of the sun clan, flames of annihilation were one of the most dangerous.
Normally no one would be able to stop an attack of such magnitude. "Foolish, black sphere." Arthur uttered under his breath, summoning a black sphere which was only twenty centimetres in diameters. The sphere bore the presence of space, it contained incredible power. Seemingly indomitable!
As the flames drew closer, they seemed to be influenced by a strong force and directly changed trajectory once again, entering inside the black sphere. Once it was sucked in, it was as though the flames had entered an entirely different world all together. The space was like an endless, dark void, devouring everything.
The flames of the "flames of annihilation" weakened considerably, before scattering and dispersing into the atmosphere like clouds of smoke. Before Cassidy could question the absurdity of the spectacle that had just occurred before her, Arthur made his next move.
"Dark bullets!" A magic formation appeared, firing multiple bullets of compressed dark energy towards Cassidy to take her out quickly. While the bullets were considerably weak, they possessed great speed.
"Typhoon!" Noticing his intentions, she promptly created a strong gale to surround herself within a protective barrier of wind. The strong wind pressure sent a ripple through the air. All the dark bullets were mercilessly sucked into the vortex.
Strands of her long, gorgeous glossy black hair danced wildly in the intense wind, as her gown fluttered beautifully.
However, Arthur's lips moved "Break the miracles of heaven, dispersed the connection of magic that exists, dispel." As though reacting to his words, the connection between Cassidy and her spell was suddenly severed.
Her expression changed abruptly as she mysteriously lost control of her spell. Furthermore, the typhoon created by Cassidy dispersed into the atmosphere. An intense gust of wind wreaks havoc in the surroundings before subsiding a second later.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
With the sudden dispersion of the typhoon, the dark bullets all scattered. With the momentum they had built up from the rotation of the heavy air pressure, they were sent hurtling uncontrollably in random directions, directly striking the earth, raising multiple clouds of dust.
"Wh—" She was rendered speechless once again, freezing in place. Arthur didn't miss that moment of weakness, his feet moved forward, as electricity cackled around his arm.
Swish!
A blade of lightning condensed from magical energy appeared at blinding speed, pointed directly at her neck. "Enough, end the match. The victor is, Sir Arthur!" The young man acting as the umpire of the battle announced.
The blade of lightning dispersed as Arthur backed away from Cassidy. "It was a good match." He said to the stunned Cassidy.
"H-How did you cancel my spell?" She inquired, her tone turning harsh. If this was a real battle, her opponents would've already cut her down the moment the opportunity arises.
"It's called dispel; an ancient magic capable of destroying the structure of a spell." He answered easily.
Dispel also wasn't a magic meant for ordinary folks to use; it was a magic created solely for demi-gods. It was a magic capable of nullifying all magical phenomena by severing the magical energy, to break down the structure of the spell.
"Where did you obtain the knowledge of such a wondrous technique?" Cassidy inquired, curiously. With her talents she had created many different types of spells, but none of them could compare with the ones Arthur had shown today.
Those spells were simply too high-levelled and absurd. It was impossible for her not to be interested in them. Arthur's smile was rather forced as he said, "I read some ancient literature and discovered those spells.
"Huh, such wondrous high-tier spells were just left placed on a bookshelf where anyone could come and take them as they please? Those spells could easily be a national treasure, or some secret technique, or a forbidden technique even in ancient empires." Cassidy said, dubiously.
It was impossible for such amazing spells to be left alone for the public to use freely. If so, wouldn't those techniques already become public knowledge?
Arthur's expression stiffened as he felt Cassidy's observant gaze on him. He broke out into cold sweat.
'I did promise that goddess I would keep quiet about her existence, as well as her conflict with the other goddess.' He thought inwardly, he had recently met the goddess of death, Eva and had become a servant of hers. As such, there were some restrictions placed on him.
In fact, he could vaguely feel a pair of cold, indifferent violet eyes observing him from a distant place within the Kingdom, making him panic internally. But he did his best to maintain his calm outwardly as he smoothed over his expression.
Cassidy was naturally a very sharp woman, even if he hid some information from her, she would still be suspicious. There weren't that many who believed in the legend of the goddess who had granted magic to humans, it was doubtful if anyone would believe him if he told them the truth.
The goddess, Udea and her sister, Eva had naturally spent hundreds, thousands, millions of years developing countless high-tier spells and techniques for their servants.
"Wow, uncle! That was amazing!" Elena said enthusiastically, as she approached him with hurried steps. Until now, she had never heard of the existence of magic capable of cancelling other magic. It was difficult for her to hold back her curiosity.
"Hahaha, it's one of the many spells I have learnt while on my journey." Arthur replied, cheerfully. He felt relieved about the appearance of both Ella and Elena who had successfully steered the conversation away from the direction of the existence of the spells he had just used.
However, as though remembering something, his eyes suddenly lit up. "By the way, Elena, I heard about your engagement to the youngest heir of the dragon clan."
"Eh, you've heard about that already." Blood rushes to her cheeks. However, her expression was firm with resolution. "Yes, I plan on marrying the youngest heir of the dragon clan, Alan Dragon."
"Oh, I thought you'd be upset with the engagement being made without your permission, but I'm surprised. What is it about the young heir that's got your interests?" Arthur asked, curiously.
"That's—" Hearing the question of her uncle, the image of Alan's came into her mind. That scene where he had moved to protect her when Lennox's servant had used a forbidden technique to blow himself up.
Her snow-white cheeks were suddenly dyed a shade of red, making her face resemble ripe peaches. She felt terribly embarrassed about openly stating her feelings.
"Why don't you tell us, dear sister? I'm also curious why you'd love someone from a clan that is only one step away from becoming a ruined clan." Ella gracefully opened up her fan as she sneered.
Elena directed a sharp glare towards her sister before stating. "Why don't you keep quiet, sister. Let's not forget you're not the only one going after the crown prince. Many other young mistresses of prominent families also have their eyes set on winning his heart. Furthermore, I heard the young miss of the moon clan, lady Althea. Is also a talented genius. I just hope my dear sister doesn't end up crying if she loses and failed to win the crown prince's heart."
"You!" All warmth drained away from Ella's face as she glared at Elena. "Now, now, be nice to each other. Your mothers would be upset if she learnt you two were arguing again." Nikolaus said, as he petted the heads of his daughters.
"Humph." They both snorted as they turned their faces away.
"To be honest, I still have my doubts about whether the youngest heir of the dragon clan is worthy of my beloved daughter." Nikolaus said sternly.
"Humph, you can't go back on your words, father! You were the one who said the decision of grandfather cannot be overturned." Elena said, emphasizing her words.
"I know, but—" Nikolaus still felt conflicted, he was especially concerned about the current situation of the dragon clan.
"Hahahaha! Isn't it fine, brother? Although it wasn't announced, there is a deep connection between our sun clan and the dragon clan." Arthur said with an amicable smile.
"Hm, connection? What kind of connection does our sun clan have with the dragon clan?" Elena asked, her eyes widening in surprise.
"Oh, you didn't tell your daughter about the relationship our sun clan had with the dragon clan in the past?" Arthur's eyes widened.
"Sigh, I was going to at some point, but since you brought it up, I guess I have no choice but to explain it now." Nikolaus said annoyedly. Directing a sharp gaze towards his brother. Arthur turned his face away and began whistling awkwardly.
"Father, what kind of relationship did our sun clan have with the dragon clan?" Ella also pressed on, unable to hold back her own curiosity.
"The truth is this isn't the first time someone from our sun clan has married into the dragon clan. In the past, your great grandfather also married someone from the dragon clan. It was then that our sun clan was connected to the dragon clan, since then there had been a few others who had also married into the dragon clan." He explained.
There was something else he wasn't telling them, the previous patriarch, the father of both Nikolaus and Arthur, had a deep friendship with the current patriarch of the dragon clan, Cole dragon. In fact, he had once offered to support the dragon clan but was turned down by Cole, who wanted to take revenge for his son's death himself.
Both Ella and Elena were left speechless, this was the first time they had learnt their clan had such a deep history with the dragon clan. 'So, it wasn't a coincidence that I was chosen to marry the youngest heir after all. This was all planned.' Elena thought inwardly, her bright, golden eyes became piercing as they narrowed in suspicion.
Nikolaus sweat as he felt his daughters cold, calculating gaze on him. In truth, he hadn't told her everything. Some things were meant to be kept in the dark to avoid unnecessary troubles.
In actuality, it was his father who foolishly challenged Cole in an arm-wrestling competition and lost miserably. For losing, he offered the hand in marriage of his youngest granddaughter.
'I can't tell her that. That must remain top secret.' He thought to himself. Meanwhile, Cassidy chuckled pleasantly to herself as she observed the uncomfortable expression on Nikolaus' face.
"That aside, there is some things I'd like to inform you of. The flashing sword clan has been making conspicuous movements ever since they got the support of the black demon oblivion clan." Arthur stated sternly.
"The black demon oblivion clan." Nikolaus furrowed his brow at that name. He was incredibly stern as well. The black demon oblivion clan was one of the strongest clans that stood on the southern parts of the region.
Although the patriarch of that clan was a member of the demon race, he didn't return to the demon continent and chose to stay in the human territory for unknown reasons.
Not many could openly oppose him. In the past years, there were many clans of exceptional figures that we're destroyed after foolishly provoking their dominance. Even something as trivial such as sullying their honour could easily invoke their wrath.
As such, even some major kingdoms and ancient empires feared them. They were truly ruthless in their actions. "Furthermore, the patriarch of the flashing sword clan, the dual wielding flash master, has been constantly butting heads with the matriarch of the azure flame clan." Arthur added.
The dual wielding flash master was an exceptional figure who's might with the sword was well renowned, even in some major kingdoms. It would probably be difficult to find someone who hadn't heard of him.
In the past, he had even clashed against the patriarch of the divine sword clan and even ended up heavily injuring him due to his fast swordplay. That incident had caused a great commotion across the region.
Even though the patriarch of the divine sword clan, had actually inherited and mastered the secret techniques of the "sword immortal arts" an ancient technique that was rumoured to have originate from a certain sword god of the distant past, he still ended up heavily injured. Although, whether this sword god actually existed, was still unknown. His techniques were all extraordinary. Just the ripples of energy could cause the sky to rumble and the ground to shake.
The main issue was the patriarch of the flashing sword clan was simply too fast, the patriarch of the divine sword clan couldn't keep up with his flashy movements.
And now that he had gained the backing of the black demon oblivion clan, he was even more untouchable. Allowing him to force great pressure onto the other great clans and many major kingdoms.
"Tell me more, how is the matriarch of the azure flame clan responding?" Nikolaus inquired sternly, sensing trouble on the horizon.
