"A city can't just suddenly disappear, can it?" Alan asks aloud, his brow frowning uneasily
[No, well not from my knowledge.] Akane replied, also uneasy about the abnormal situation.
Something like an ancient city that had been stagnant for many years housing powerful monster, and then suddenly vanishing doesn't sound like a story one can just simply ignore.
After all, there is no telling when such a city will ever resurface again, Alan was also really bothered by the mysterious monster mentioned inside the book.
He was certain that the goddess of death, Eva had something to do with it.
Alan folded his arms and pondered various possibilities inside his head, when suddenly his emerald eyes shone mysteriously.
"Akane, do you think the monster mentioned inside that book is the same monster we faced back then?" He asked, frowning deeply.
[Based on the descriptions mentioned, it does sound very similar.] She responded.
It happened the day before his death. They were investigating the appearance of a new monster inside a forest. When they were both attack by a large creature that was unknown to them.
The creature had a rough appearance and had deep red eyes, its tail seemed to be its greatest weapon as it kept attacking them using its long tail which was covered with rough stones and moss.
They were supposed to report back to Udea about the abnormal creature they had fought back then but, was suddenly and rudely interrupted when they were suddenly surrounded and ambush by the army of the goddess of death that kept appearing one after another.
"Sigh, in the end we weren't able to report back, that damn woman will definitely suffer!" Alan exclaimed, his fist clenching in fury.
[Sigh, I can understand your feelings but let's not forget that she's a goddess even if you were at your best, she would still be a difficult opponent for us both.] Akane's calm voice said.
"... I know that but still." Alan sighed deeply as if expelling the bitter emotions, he had inside his chest.
If only he was more prepared then, then things would have ended differently. At least he was certain that the outcome wouldn't have ended in his death.
The 'Blood reaper' Sword was a God level sword and one of the strongest spirit swords, when he had first awakened this sword, he had met the beautiful divine spirit dwelling inside it. He gave her the name Akane, and they became partners.
After her awakening Akane had completely forgotten her memories of the past, she couldn't remember anything up until she awakened as Ellard's sword, though, she was certain that her missing memories weren't like that naturally.
The feelings as if someone toyed with her memories were something that had been bothering her for a long time now, she never showed the feelings of anxiety in her heart to Ellard but, those feelings still persist within her even now!
"For the time being let's continue our usual training, when this body has gotten use to the vigorous training, we'll do some sword techniques to see its current capabilities." Alan suggested.
[Right!] Akane responded happily.
...
Meanwhile in another location.
An extravagant carriage could be seen moving through the capital of Nahinil, seated inside the luxurious looking carriage was a young girl dressed in a beautiful gown, her long glossy black hair went down towards her waist, she was the second daughter of the sun clan, Elena.
For what seemed like minutes she stared absent-mindedly out the window of the carriage viewing the town bustling with the liveliness of the people.
Seated across from her was another young woman who seemed to be in her early twenties, the woman had long black hair and black eyes, she wore a dressed which was completely white in color, creating a deep contrast to her black hair.
The woman looked at Elena awkwardly for some time unsure of what to say to her. It was obvious that Elena doesn't agree to the engagement but, it was a decision made by the dragon clan and the sun clan so she couldn't actually make a rejection without suffering the consequences of it later on, she didn't want to go against her family's decision but at the same time she couldn't agree with the engagement. She was definitely stuck between a rock and a hard place right now.
Sensing that she was in a very precarious situation the black-haired woman wanted to say something that could cheer her up but, what should she say?
Elena was already a very short-tempered person saying anything that could potentially anger her would result in one's head flying.
And so, she chose her words very carefully. "Ahem, um Lady Elena what do you think of the young master?" She asked, observing Elena's expression closely.
At her sudden question Elena snapped out of her dazed state and turned her attention to the woman before her.
"Young Master, you mean Alan?" Elena asked, to clarify. The black-haired woman nodded her head.
"Hmm, honestly I don't know.... I'll need to observe his character some more to really give a good opinion. Though, based on his outer disposition he seemed like a waggish child." Elena commented, her golden eyes narrowed faintly, despite her demeanor Elena had very sharp observation eyes though Alan's words were courteous she had saw a strong glint in his eyes, something a child his age shouldn't have.
He wasn't just childish he was also cunning as well, at least that's the impression she got from him.
She also had a feeling he was also displease with the engagement as well but, for some reason he didn't say his thoughts out loud. She couldn't understand him at all.
Elena sighed, that boy wasn't someone to take lightly her instincts told her that.
"I see... I do agree with you on that he seemed rather docile." She spoke.
"Docile? There is nothing docile about that boy." Elena said sneering unhappily.
"Father is most likely going to make elder sister the main head, I'm sure she is going to marry a rather high-ranking figure, perhaps someone from the royal family." Elena muttered; she leaned her head slightly towards the window while staring at the outside.
'What a dilemma I'm in, well the dragon clan may have lost most of its influence but. I guess there is still a chance they would return to their former glory but, for a situation like that to occur seemed quite convenient which makes it unlikely to happen.' Elena thought to herself, frowning slightly.
"Well, I don't think it's wise to suddenly make an objection without observing the situation some more. I'll make my decision within a few years, we have plenty of time." Elena exhaled a deep sigh, as she gazed out the window of the carriage.
"Alan is currently nine years old while I'm thirteen. The marriage will most likely take place once he is eighteen.... Though, I do have some doubts about marrying someone younger than me, but I guess it's too late to be complaining about such things right now." After gathering her disordered thoughts, Elena spoke up again, thus ending their discussions.
The carriage Continues on its way towards the estate of the sun clan which was located on the western side of the Nahinil kingdom.
