Chapter 9 - Princess

" Don't you know that you will catch a cold if keep standing out here?" a voice asked her from behind.

" For God's sake Nurain not now " Meena who was looking ahead staring at nothing in particular said in a voice almost inaudible, her face red probably from the cold.

" You should take a very good care of yourself, not for you but for your people " he continued with a chuckle, Meena finally turned and glared at him wondering why this Man was still here even though she told him she wasn't interested.

" i see you have spoiled your friend so much that she locked herself in your chamber and left you out here for the cold to bite".

" she is a little down, she has no one to call her one to call her own, no one to go to, i just hope she's fine in there".

"Well she has you, the future queen of this kingdom" he smiled and she sent him another glare, she knew he was taunting her but she said nothing to it.

" Don't think too much about the responsibities, you will be just fine i promise ".

" Well, here we go, no one thinks it's necessary to ask how i feel, not even my father, everyone one thinks i'm happy and fine with the whole thing, yet the person i harbour a lot of hatred for is the only one who is assuring me".She said ironically.

" Haven't i always been there? " he asked with a raised brow.

"Well you were, but to annoy me" she laughed softly and he smiled saying nothing and silence followed.

"Tell me" he said a little while after.

" i'm afraid " she admitted almost immediately.

" Don't be "

" But i'm, Afraid that i won't be able to fulfill the responsibities, afraid that i will let Everyone down, afraid that i will drag this kingdom down with me, i'm so so afraid " she sobbed desperately.

" You should always remember that this kingdom has put it's trusts in you and it's fate in your hands".

" And yes, i'm afraid Everyone will lose the same trust and fate in me oneday, i'm a woman afterall "

" Think about this, Until this day, women are considered weak and that a woman's fate if to be married, bear children and take care of her household, but a woman was still chosen to rule her people, people think women should be protected by men but a woman was still chosen to protect the people of a kingdom, Everyone thinks women should only be in the kitchen and doing other house chores but a woman is still chosen to lead her people." He said staring straight into her eyes.

" surely it's not because it's just any woman......it's because it's you " he said and wiped a small tear that escaped her eye.

" it's because it's Princess Meena, the princess who escaped the walls and guards of the palace from a young age just to see her subjects, the princess who roamed the streets, market squares, farms, and forests of Nur-sultan talking, smiling, playing and laughing with her subjects to know their feelings, the princess who hesitates to take even a morsel of food in her mouth afraid that her subjects might be hungry, the princess who hesitates to catch a glimpse of sleep afraid that her subjects might troubled, a princess who grieved with her subjects when they are in trouble, the princess who nursed her subjects back to health in times of diseases and attacks, the princess who fearlessly stood fearlessly as a shield to her subjects swearing to slaughter the enemy who dare to cast an evil eye on her subjects like a mother protecting her children in the face of danger.....that's the Woman chosen to be the future of this kingdom".

Suddenly, Meena hugged her annoying mentor, a wide smile made it's way to her lips and her eyes brightened, she felt confidence surging through her, Maybe this was just the little motivation she needed which no one but this man could give to her, she probably missed his lectures, she concluded.
