Ren seemed to notice what was happening, his conversation with one of the members stopped and he hurried over to Haruki. "What . . .?" he began but Haruki's cold glare stopped the words he planned to say.
Finally, the man glanced at Haruki who was approaching him his posture straight and dignified despite his very drunken and even more intoxicated state. The anger that flooded his mind caused by the scene left him drunk not only in the glasses of alcohol he had gulped down.
The doctor's smile slowly disappeared as his gaze remained fixed on Haruki. He was not listening to the woman anymore; Haruki had won his attention and the sense of achievement he felt at the moment was beyond words.
Haruki lifted a corner of his lips as he watched the man excuse himself from the company of the pretty lady and begin making his way toward him. His smile only got wider. All he could see was the man approaching him and all he could feel was the joy of the ownership he had of the man.
His vision became blurry and the last thing he remembered before passing out was the warmth and the firmness of the man's chest underneath his suit.
Hiroshi filled the gaze of everyone fixed on him as he supported the most powerful and equally dangerous man in his arms. The party will have to end with the birthday man completely knocked out but could they not stare so much?
Seconds ago, when he did not notice his gaze, all he saw was the pink-tinted cheeks of the blushing man he held. He had observed how the man looked a lot calmer with his eyes closed, he even dared to think he looked pretty and cute.
He had seen people try to look cold and aloft in his world among his VIP patients but aside from the man who mentored him a few weeks ago, Haruki had to be the most dangerous person he had seen. He could swear that the man had become numb to normal feelings. He remembered when the man stabbed that young man while meeting his gaze.
The man might have done it for him to see but he knew that the man had no hatred for the young man who hurt him. Haruki only stabbed him because he wanted someone to learn from it. There might be many others who might have killed more people than Haruki has ever hurt but the young man has long lost touch with his feelings, he had numbed himself so much that no one could mistake his cold aura for a simple façade.
What made him even more dangerous to Hiroshi was the fact that the man was not only willing to hurt anyone but also to hurt himself. The young man might not be tired of living but there was something he sort in the pain his physical wounds bring to him.
As a doctor, that was the most dangerous patient he could care for. The young man might prove his treatments useless by getting hurt carelessly repeatedly until his body can't take it anymore and will give way. He was sure the Yugen group would behead him after months of torture if the young chairman died in his care.
His hands moved without his permission as soon as he noticed the wetness at the corner of the young man's eyes but he was stopped by a firm clasp on his shoulder by Ren the public head of the Yakuza part of Yugen group. Was he wrong about his observations? He respectfully pulled his hand away since he had hopes of saving many lives with it.
He left the young chairman in the care of his mentor and right-hand man, Ren but his gaze never left the chairman. With his head slightly bowed, his thoughts were filled with things that just became of so much importance to him this night, that he could not spare a glance at the lady he was talking to a while ago.
He walked out of the venue just in time to see Ren and Haruki's assistant assist the drunk Haruki into the elevator and he rushed over without a second thought and stopped the door from closing before the guards outside the elevator could stop him.
"Could you give him warm honey water when you get back?" he asked. "It will help him."
"Are you going home?" Haruki who was dead drunk only seconds ago straightened his posture away from the help of the men beside him and met Hiroshi's gaze.
Hiroshi noticed that Haruki's gaze was not very fixed and the man was still in a very drunken state but he responded as he took a step into the VIP elevator, "Yes, I am going home."
"No, don't go, if you do, you will die, Just on my birthday, you can travel on other days," Haruki whispered loud enough for only those in the elevator to hear.
Hiroshi was taken aback by that sentence as his brow furrowed slightly. His eyes looked warmly at the young man whom he was sure was suffering from some traumas he had bottled up due to his post.
"Could you step out now?" Kiyoshi, Haruki's assistant walked forward and asked Hiroshi.
Hiroshi looked worriedly at Haruki but the expression the young man made was the same as what he was feeling at the moment. Haruki was worried about him.
He decided to use the Chairman's drunken state to his advantage as he replied to Haruki while ignoring the assistant, "I can't afford a room here so I have to leave."
"Then you can stay in mine."
Kiyoshi took a step towards Hiroshi. The doctor waited for the punch to his guts to come but it never came and the assistant pressed the button in the elevator before stepping back.
The doctor swallowed as he had already made up his mind to remain in the elevator regardless of how many times, he gets punched by the slim assistant who has quite a powerful punch.
He watched as the assistant took Haruki into the master's bedroom before coming to lead him to the guest room. He was the family's doctor and considering the history of the family, there might be no reason for him to get kicked out or it was Haruki's words that carried the weight that made them let him stay.
"Do you want me to prepare the honey tea for him?" the doctor asked seriously before the assistant left the room.
"If you want to," Kiyoshi replied without pausing or looking back.
The doctor rushed to take that opportunity, he walked out of the room and walked to the kitchen to get the tea prepared.
"Since you will do it, I will leave now. I have some things to take care of," the assistant said.
When the assistant left, Hiroshi looked around the room discovering that he was once again left in a house with Haruki but this time, it was different, perhaps it was what transpired between them in the restroom, or the tears he saw, or the words Haruki said in the elevator. Whatever it was, it caused his heart to palpitate. Perhaps Haruki was not numb after all.
