Chapter 18 - The boldness

The God of luck seemed to be on his side because he avoided seeing the doctor with his good health. Bad health just happened to not be the only thing that could bring them together.

It was his birthday and if he did not want the man to attend, he just had to remain silent but he asked his assistant to invite the doctor. He was confident that he will not be pulled into whatever crazy trap the man's gaze was luring him into.

Especially when he has a beauty and a very obedient beauty at that by his side, there was no way he will be attracted to a man more muscular than him who seemed to throw obedience out of the window whenever they meet.

Life was good without meeting him although saying that will give a man he met only for a short while too much credit but he did not have his heart racing except for physical exercises . . . simply no one's gaze made him feel like he had to visit a cardiologist.

He was dressed great for the birthday in a suit he gave his new boyfriend the grace to pick out for him as the young man had worked longer as a model than an actor and he was a fashion major in college.

Everything seemed to be going perfectly, the venue was great which happened to not only be one of his many hotels but also one of the best five-star hotels in the capital.

He was the protagonist of the show and as much as he might have a Yakuza root, he was now a respectable businessman and a party to celebrate his twenty-eighth birthday just happened to be perfect for a match-making session with many well-bred daughters of like-minded businessmen and also a few unlike-minded who wanted something out of a matrimonial agreement with him.

The young man by his side played the role of a simple lover well that many did not mistake him as anything beyond that and he poised no obstruction to the many ladies who had their hungry eyes on him. He was certainly a hot cake even with the danger his smile did not bother to hide.

Haruki was enjoying the feeling of being in control and also the love he got from his Yakuza men and their boss, Ren whom he has spent more time with than anyone else alive until his gaze fell on a visitor that walked into the room.

His gaze had constantly, without his permission been moving to the entrance of the venue. He got to meet Dr. Yamamoto, the father of that disobedient brat and the man came with good wishes even though he had just recovered from an illness that almost took his life but the man's son was nowhere to be found as it was said that he had work in the hospital but he will come.

Haruki brushed the man's words off with a cold smile as he tried not to feel insulted, his birthday party should hold more importance in the man's schedule, right? After all, he was their boss and his family was the only reason, they could run the most prestigious hospital in the capital.

The way the suit enhanced the man's frame, made Haruki imagine how much of a feast the sight will be to his eyes. He felt his heart race when the man met his gaze. Wherever his heart was in a hurry to, seemed a lot more urgent when the corners of the man's lips curved up to form a smile.

Haruki swallowed hard. This was not what he spent days and weeks training to overcome. He tried hard to confirm that he no longer had that crazy heart disease and he was having even more fun with his lover, what gave this man the right to ruin it all?

What right did he have to step into the room and use that unavoidable presence to fade off all he diligently worked on? It would be a lie if he was not thinking of throwing that man on his bed and ripping those annoying fabrics off his body to have a good view of what was underneath.

He wanted to bond that man to his bed and push him to every limit before watching him drop from it all, the higher he takes him, the happier it will make him. Still lost in his thought, Ren came closer to him and his towering build blocked his view.

If it were one of the other boys, he would have had a good talk to them about that but seeing it was his mentor, he met the man's gaze coldly before raising an eyebrow.

Ren seemed to notice his irritation as he bowed slightly and moved away but the doctor was no longer there. And just when he was thinking the man must have run away from the venue, the man appeared again but this time, a lot closer.

The man came to wish him well. It was no secret that their family have been in close relations for generations and although the doctor was a subordinate, he still had to smile to accept his good wishes, which made him feel so old that he could not wait to leave this formal event for a less formal one with more alcohol and music.

When the man was done greeting, he leaned closer and in a whisper, he advised him, "There are so many ladies around, you should find a good wife."

The doctor appeared taken aback by his advice but nodded and appreciated his goodwill. The nod and appreciation brought a sour taste to his mouth and his hand clenched and unclenched on his side.

His mind was partially occupied with very unnecessary things when he met and spoke to some other people. When he snapped out of it, he stood up to take a break in the bathroom to fully wake himself up with a splash of water on his face.

He rinsed his hand at the sink when he was done and looked at his wet face in the mirror before reaching for his handkerchief but a voice stopped his movements, "You can use mine."

Haruki recognized who it was before he met the person's gaze in the mirror and slowly turn to have a proper view of the person. "Who said you could come in?" he asked him seriously.

"Oh, I thought it was a public restroom, I am sorry." The man did not look as surprised as his words were neither did, he look sorry. "I don't want you to wet your cloth with your wet hands, how about you use mine," he asked as he stretched a folded handkerchief to me.

Haruki concluded that his mentor had lost his touch, for the young doctor to get bolder with his training rather than docile as the training was meant to make him.

"I will just get a tissue," Haruki told him as he felt treated like a kid.

The man seemed to have lost the desire to keep his very useful hands as a doctor so he reached for Haruki's wrist. Haruki could have avoided it but he simply wanted to confirm that the man would be bold enough to do it.

He was only a step away from twisting the man's palm to the point that he has a few broken fingers when a scent filled his nose before the soft fabric of a handkerchief touched his cheeks.
