Chapter 17 - Busted

Arianna was beyond furious when she paid an enormous amount of money to humiliate Clarissa, yet the news did not even make a dent at all. It did not even chart as trending articles and was buried by a story of the year's wedding between Logan Kent and Natalie Nguyen that will be taking place in less than a month.

She threw every piece of dress she bought earlier and started throwing a tantrum uncontrollably.

Knowing her effort is fruitless, she still scurries, finding another attempt to bring Clarissa down. Since the incident, that b*tch looks even prettier, there is something off about her, but Arianna can't tell which part, be it her personality or temperament. Not that any of them ever paid attention to her; most of every socialite knew she was an illegitimate daughter, a shame that her mother had to endure during her father's infidelity.

Ultimately, her parents decided it's best if Clarissa does not appear too much in the public eye.

However, now that the Knights knew of her existence, Arianna felt slightly envious. She covets what Clarissa has, her looks and her brains. Clarissa always is the smartest but stupidly lets herself be manipulated.

Seeing the scattered expensive dress all over the floor, she picked them up one by one and lay on the bed; she managed to secure this beautiful sequin dress to wear on such a high-profile wedding of the year. It has been a while since any prominent family hosted a wedding, and she won't let anyone take the glam light off of her.

....

Remi returned to her cabin and picked up the ownership paper Conrad had left next to the seat after handing her the key. She clenched the brown envelope and went straight to the shabby cabin she called room.

Opening the envelope, she saw the condominium Conrad had purchased is located in the heart of the city, one of the most sought-after residency in Arlington. Golden hill Condominium.

She felt like a hypocrite, despising the rich while she would be moving here soon while Baldie and the rest struggled in the countryside. She throws the key and the ownership paper onto her bed, looking around the room. She won't be packing much, but she will take everything that belongs to Clarissa with her.

Remi knew Clarissa had gone from the world; there was nowhere she could survive drowning before Remi lost consciousness; she saw Clarissa had sunk more profoundly than before. Then, she felt someone yanking her off to bring her out of the water.

They had ordered a tomb for her carved with the initial C.H in Anders; the least she can do is to give Clarissa the proper burial since no one knows she has crossed the rainbow.

The questions regarding her suicide remain unknown, regardless of the harsh treatment of witches of the west in this house; it's not to the point Clarissa needed to end her life. Luke Henson seems to know something about Clarissa; his demeanor screams danger and devious. She needs to get to the bottom of this before anything else. The orphanage is sustainable for six more months, meaning she only has that time to focus on solving it and earning her wage, so Baldie does not wire her money.

Conrad mentioned Clarissa seemed depressed awful more than six months ago. Does it have anything to do with her death?

While busy with her thoughts, Mona was next to the window peeking from the outside, watching Remi while she kept stitching to Felicia; she made it her job to also mention the property Conrad had purchased for her.

After being done with her evil deeds, she took a slow step back, not wanting to alarm anyone, until she noticed a tiny puppy at the window growing at her and biting her ankles.

Her scream echoed throughout the yard, making everyone rush to her, and Remi opened the door right away to see she was holding her ankle and tried to grab the puppy to let it bite loose. Her hand flung around as if swatting a fly, trying to let the puppy stop biting her.

'She was snooping!' Remi muttered to herself.

However, she rages, seeing Mona grabbing a rock nearby to bash the puppy's head.

Scruffing the puppy easily, the chocolate labrador puppy let his bite loose and immediately snuggled like a good little boy in Remi's arms.

"Get that dog away from me," Mona shrills like a banshee.

"It's just a puppy; what are you making a big deal of it? Your wound is not even deep!"

Remi retorted while petting the puppy's head, rewarding him for his bravery.

"Get it away from me!!"

"Task task Mona, I just realized something..this puppy looks to be less than four months old; I don't think he has any rabies shot yet; you might wanna go to the hospital to check for rabies disease because you showed a sign of rabid right now."

Scared by Remi's observation, she knew a thing or two about unvaccinated dogs that might carry the disease. Her face was ashen, and sweets started pooling on her forehead; her breathing hitched from panic, she was busted from snooping around and now she might have rabies.

Mona fled right away and screamed for the driver to bring her to the emergency hospital; the commotion was stopped by Conrad, that arrived. He instructed the driver to get Mona right away and approached Remi that still holding the puppy.

"Here, Rissa, give it to me" He wanted to pick the puppy up away from anyone.

"No, I want this cute little thing."

"But rabies..." Conrad is worried.

"Arlington is rabies free zone; this puppy is fine; I will take it to the vet tomorrow for his puppy shots."

"But..Mona," pointing back at Mona that probably already on her way to the hospital.

"She is fine..the doctors will let her know" laughing as loud as she could, she left everyone puzzled and brought the puppy inside and named him Cocoa butter. It's a boy, but it's her cocoa butter, sweet boy.

"You stink and need a bath" she brought cocoa butter to the bathroom and bathed him so he could lay on her bed.

Conrad had seen Clarissa as different after losing her memory; perhaps they do drive her to the brink of insanity. His heart tugged violently, remembering when he had let his wife and children freely bully her. Not joining and letting it go it's also a form of a bully; since he is her father, he is her biggest bully.
