*flick flick*
As a small lighter flickered to form a smaller bulb of flame, its heat guarded and guided toward a cigarette, gently perched between a man's lips, the quiet moment only interrupted by the sounds of cheering and chatter coming from a group voice chat.
"I'm tellin' you Kenji! You gotta try VEarth!"
"Yeah, yeah, I've already got the stuff set up, just let me have a smoke and I'll hop on..."
"Right, right, anyway, the Guild name will be the same, just get on as soon as you can"
"I said I'll be on later!"
Small chuckles could be heard as a disconnection was heard, the computer's owner pulling away and back toward a nearby open window, through which they would exhale a puff of smoke, looking down into the streets, noting the usual intense rain that had been pounding the streets for the last few hours. He'd let out a small, hacking, cough as he took another drag.
"Kenji Nakamura, the fuck are you doing with your life?" he'd take a final drag before snuffing out the half-spent cigarette in an ashtray sat on the windowsill, expelling the remaining smoke through his nose, Kenji rubbed his stubbled chin as she looked in a nearby mirror, noting his rather shaggy, black, hair and beneath that? A set of bagged eyes, dark circles having long since taken root under them.
With a sigh, he looked across his room, next to him sat a twin-sized bed with a headset planted in front of the pillows, and across from its foot was a desk with Kenji's 3 monitored computer set up on it, Kenji grabbed the headset the technology in the aforementioned headset used various transceivers to feed data directly too and from his brain to control his in-game avatar, putting on as he laid in bed, turning it on as he was thrust into the game his peripheral vision monopolised by the words, 'VEarth Online'.
"Great start", Kenji thought to himself as he squinted, his eyes irritated by the bold, gold and red, lettering.
Soon, Kenji would appear on a circular stone platform sat in the sky, looking at himself, he'd notice his body was constituted of nothing more than white light, a consequence of having jumped straight into the game without setting up a formal avatar the headset's systems to use when interacting with other social applications. Looking around, he'd soon see the visage of a man standing in the dead centre, no doubt the avatar he was meant to customise, while there were many options, he stuck to what he knew, that being: long hair, stubbly chin and dark eyes, though, he couldn't help himself but to clean up his face, removing the bags and dark circles that ever so maliciously, clung to his eyes.
After confirming this new appearance he'd be surrounded by various cards depicting various occupations, blacksmith, chef, bard, warrior. Though there was only one that took his attention, a man stood atop a dragon's skull, having plunged a blade deep through it, tapping it he'd be given its description:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Hero]? Kenji had heard talk of this class from his guild, apparently, despite the fact that it allowed the most freedom for players, most eventually quit playing hero and jumped to a new character after settling into a one particular style. But, given what he heard, it seemed to be treated like a tutorial class, to help newbies get a feel for the various systems and mechanics they would encounter, although, such freedom did appeal to Kenji, this was a game made for going on massive expeditions and adventures, no? Figuring that he'd select [Hero] confirming his choice on the following screen, ensuring that he did mean to choose [Hero]. As he hit confirm another screen would appear, showing that he 20 points to allocate ocross 5 stats, them being: Strength, Dexterity, Agility, Intelligence and Vitality. Given that hero was meant to act as a master of all, he went with a balanced build of 4 in each stat.
Though, last of all was choosing his screen name, he'd recoil to himself with a sigh before inputting the name he had been using for many a year, "Lord-KingDeath", the result of his edgy teen years getting the better of him when he made his first MMO character, confirming this would result in another white light before being dropped in the middle of a city, looking around he'd see what would be your standard fantasy city, giant castle at its centre with various districts and stores cascading out from it.
"Alright, time to find my guild then I can start my levelling..."
Lord-KingDeath sighed to himself as he gestured his hand up, and with it appeared a column of 5 circles, each one marked to denote it's function, with Kenji tapping to open the 'Social' menu, denoted by two character icons stood shoulder to shoulder, soon opening a submenu labelled 'Guild' and presented with a prompt to input the name of the guild he was looking for. Kenji would search the name of his guild 'Thundercross Knights' he took a deep breathe before sending an invitation for entry, which was promptly accepted.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[SakuraWarrior]: Hey Kenji, still going with KingDeath, huh?
[Lord-KingDeath]: Yeah, what about it?
[SakuraWarrior]: Nothing, nothing.
[KittyCyute]: Hero 2, u fr?
[Lord-KingDeath]: Yeah?
[FlamePrince]: DAMMM, you're really going for it, huh?
[Lord-KingDeath]: Yeah
[KittyCyute]: Ayyy, kek >3<
[Nuemaru]: Oi, let Kenji play what he wants. Anyway, welcome to VEarth, Lord-KingDeath!
