"Alright, lets get moving", Kenji rubbed his hands together as he looked at himself, since he was a [Hero] he was unsurprised to see a longsword and tome on his hips and a circular shield on his back. His armour? Well, he was less enthused to see that he was reduced to a shirt, pants and leather boots, checking his inventory he'd see that this was a set called 'basic armour' that came with a small 5% stat boost for him wearing the full set, no doubt made with the intent to tide him over until he had got much better armour with superior buffs.
Kenji kept one eye on his guild's chat, the other on the in-game map as he made it his way out of the city, according to the map there were some class trainers, however, they were only for the classes that he started with. As he passed by various buildings he'd open and close various tabs, finding that it was the standard fair that he had come to expect from various RPGs.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[KittyCyute]: So, Kenji, where you headed?
[Lord-KingDeath]: Uh, forest, I guess? I want to get a feel for the skills I have rn, then I'll probably look for some trainers
[KittyCyute]: Aye aye, which one will you be going to first?
[Lord-KingDeath]: Dunno, Paladin? @GozenGozu
[GozenGozu]: Sup?
[Lord-KingDeath]: Tamaki, you're a paladin right?
[GozenGozu]: Ye, also don't use my actual name
[Lord-KingDeath]: As long as Haru keeps calling me by my name, got that @KittyCyute ?
[GozenGozu]: You are hopeless, you know that?
[Lord-KingDeath]: Shut up! Do you know where the class trainer for Paladins are?
[GozenGozu]: Holy City of Czande
[Lord-KingDeath]: And that would be where?
[GozenGozu]: East of the starting city.
[Lord-KingDeath]: cool, thanks

Kenji sighed to himself as he walked out into the woods, once he was deep enough, his path was barred by the most fearsome of foes! [Slime]! Kenji looked down at the small green blob, back away a few feet before activating his 'Charge' Skill, the skill causing him to rocket towards his enemy, dealing some damage as well as dazing it for a few moments, following this up with an activation of 'cleave' bringing down his sword with increased power, killing the slime in a single hit. As its body disintegrated he was met a with a small pop up that listed his winnings, gel, copper coins and a few experience points, he'd be here a while, but, given this already put him well on the way to levelling up, there was little risk to grinding for a bit. After almost a minute of straight grinding he was awarded for his troubles with a new announcement:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Congratulations You Are Now Level 2!
You have acquired 3 Stat Points and 1 Skill Point
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was a small message, but to Kenji? Nonetheless important to him, He increased his Strength by 1 and Agility by 2, sinking his Skill point into Upgrading his 'Charge' skill, meaning he could now use it from a greater distance. With this, he would go back to his grinding, where he'd notice while Stat Points come easy, skill points seemed to be drip fed, as he got his second and third skill points at level 3 and his fourth and fifth at level 5. However, he would get an announcement along his notice of levelling:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As a [Hero] your proficiency as a [Warrior] has increased!
You may now embark on a quest to broaden your knowledge of the ways of the [Warrior]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This, naturally, raised a brow, after assigning his skills and stats, he'd check his main stat sheet, noting his class was now set as [Hero (Warrior)].
"So, if I was slinging fireballs, would I then be [Hero (Mage)]?", he asked himself as he warped back to the city, walking around until he was able to circumnavigate his way to the Warrior's Guild, only to be met with someone being tossed out its doors, a rather muscular man, wearing metal plate armour and a great sword on his back, he had a thick goatee, a scar going down one of his eyes and a brown crewcut. If you had to ask Kenji to describe an NPC warrior in a video game, this is almost certainly what he'd end up describing.
"You bitch! You don't have the right to do this!"
"Oh? I think I do Morley", the response would be given from an equally muscular woman dressed in similar armour, though her armour had a large horn attached to the left pauldron, with flowing silver hair and a similarly placed scar, the text subtitles presenting her name as Demona.
"I hope that's not an essential characteristic..." Kenji murmured to himself.
"You there!" Demona pointed to Kenji, "you've definitely got what it takes to be a real warrior!"
The look on the tossed out warrior was a mixture of shock and fury, looking over to Kenji he'd mutter something under his breath before running, the only audible words being something about revenge.
Demona would walk down the steps towards me as she put out a hand, "so, are you interested? As you can see the warrior's guild has a vacancy...", this was followed by a small, if nervous, chuckle.
Kenji took the woman up on her offer, shaking her hand as the scene went dark, between him and Demona appeared his class card and directly above it appeared another card, depicting a man holding a sword and shield, the [Warrior]. As he looked at the card a small line of light would link the two cards, before the darkness would recede and the scene would continue.
"Glad to have you on board newbie!" Demona would walk back into the guild as Kenji was assigned a new quest.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quest: Warrior's Guild
You have found new accord with the Warrior's Guild in order to hone your strength.
- Speak with Demona
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kenji sighed to himself as he entered the building, finding several generic NPC warriors with differing armours and weapons, each trainee throwing their weight against a training dummy. With him not wanting to speak with any of them, he'd simply walk over to Demona and get his next quest in the chain, which, after rewarding him with some slightly better armour, would send him out to kill a few more goblins. His confusion was obvious as he went back into the forest, he had chosen the Hero class, did he not? So, why was he being pushed to go back to killing goblins? Well, it was better than nothing, right? He thought so.
Coming upon the marked encampment, he'd use his Stealth skill, his body going translucent as he snuck up on a goblin, using Cleave as he'd cut the goblin in two, it's body disintegrating moments later as he was forced out of Stealth, using Charge to quickly move to and Cleave another goblin in two, spinning on his heel to decapitate one that had attempted to stab him in the back with a crude, stone, knife.
Looking back toward the, now dispersing, group of goblins, he'd see the camp was situated around the entrance to a small cave, he'd make a few steps to approach, before its inhabitant would leave. A large thing, twice as large as the other goblins, with dark green skin, its only clothing being a scraggly loin cloth, a crudely made crown and a pendant, of equally crude make, made from some string and a piece of metal. Over its head sat the word, 'Hobgoblin', Kenji sighed to himself as he readied up a fire ball, first lobbing that at the Hobgoblin before charging and cleaving at it, while it did wound it deeply, it certainly didn't kill it, thankfully, it didn't spawn any goblins to help it. Kenji took a few steps back, before jogging a bit further back before spring back towards it with Charge, making another cleave that put another deep wound into the creature and dropped its HP even further, by Kenji's reckoning, one more of that and he'd be able to finish it. So, with another rotation of fireball, charge and cleave he would fell the creature, marking off another objective on his quest, though, as he went to loot the Hobgoblin, he'd recieve a material, outlined in a brilliant golden yellow:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Item: Fragment of Durandal
Description: A fragment from the shattered blade of an ancient Hero.
With possession of both this and the class [Hero], destiny has changed.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A brow was raised to this, 'Destiny has changed'? What? How the hell has a single item changed fate in a videogame?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quest: Hero's Weapon: Durandal
Description: The Blade of an Ancient Hero, Durandal, has been shattered, its pieces scattered across the land, only when brought back together may they be made whole.
Objectives:
- Acquire Blade Fragments (1/5)
- Acquire Hilt
- Acquire Pommel
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brows were certainly raised at this new quest, unsure of what to say, he'd open his guild chat, posting the item into it, at least to see what his friends made of it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Lord-KingDeath]: [Fragment of Durandal]
[KittyCyute]: lul wut?
[SakuraWarrior]: what's this?
[DrakeDreaming]: just got on, what am I seeing here?
[SakuraWarrior]: Kenji got an item
[DrakeDreaming]: I can see that, dumbass, but what is it?
[Lord-KingDeath]: Got it from a hobgoblin on the Warrior's guild Questline, maybe it's because I'm a [Hero]?
[GozenGozu]: Probably, I did a brief stint as warrior and didn't get that item, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
[Lord-KingDeath]: Fr? Siiiiiiiick
[SakuraWarrior]: Bruh, so Kenji's getting a sick weapon?
[Lord-KingDeath]: What can I say? I'm just a Hero ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As he posted his last message he'd rub the bridge of his nose, slotting the item back into his inventory, closing the guild chat, checking his quest, he'd see that he was prompted to visit the leader of the Warrior's guild and, optionally, show them the shard of Durandal.
He practice a few swings as he made his way back, resheathing his sword as he considered tossing his shield, there were some skills for it, but he likely wouldn't be going for them immediately.
As the door opened and fell back shut, Demona would turn away from a newbie, looking towards Kenji and approaching him.
"So, didn't have too much trouble clearing out that goblin camp, I assume?" She put a hand on her hip, prompting Kenji to respond.
"No, none at all." he opened his inventory and presented the shard of Durandal, the NPC stepping back in shock, looking at the metal fragment and its, almost, auric glow.
"What's that?"
"Apparently." Kenji paused as he begun to speak, "it's a fragment of a legendary sword called 'Durandal', somehow, it ended up in the hands of a hobgoblin that was leading the ca-"
"Hobgoblin?", while the woman did seem surprised by the mythical artefact that had been put before her, she did also seem perturbed by the presence of a hobgoblin at that camp, "but... No, there should've just been goblins there..." she seemed lost in though for but a moment, "ah, don't worry, I'll report the hobgoblin, but, keep quiet about Durandal, you never know who could be listening..." she'd shoo Kenji out of the guild, with him sighing and deciding it might be time to try out another profession.
