In a classroom, a young man sat in a corner. The entire class seemed to be filled with excitement and nervousness as chatter could be heard.
Unlike most of the students, the young man was quiet with an expression of indifference as he stared out of the window. He had dark blue hair with light blue eyes, his looks were average.
His daze was interrupted by the sudden bang of an arm in his table. He sighed before looking up to find a boy with a grin on his face along with two other boys.
"I hope you're not thinking about getting a high rank." He spoke before his friend continued "Yeah, he wishes!." He said before they started to burst into laughter.
What did they find so funny to burst out laughing? The boy who was ridiculing him was Moby Dint, he would usually harass him for no reason. The boy with him were Jim and Carl.
"Hey!, I thought I told you to leave him alone." Before they could continue, a yell sounded as a young man walked up to them.
"About time." The young man thought as the group quickly disbanded, leaving him and the second boy alone.
"Late as usual but their may be the last time we see each other so I'll let it slide."
The young man smiled, walking beside the man. This boy was called Leonardo Blade or Leo for short. He was one of the handsome guys in the class with fluffy blonde hair and gentle blue eyes. He stood at 180 cm and his body was slender yet toned. He was the young man's best and only friend.
"Are you nervous, don't be, you're one of the most hardworking guys I know so I guarantee you will be a high ranked warrior." Leo said
Several years ago, a mysterious virus known as the KMJ virus appeared in the Earth's atmosphere wiping out 4 billiion of the population and mutated the animals into monsters.
In an attempt or destroy these monsters, human kind deployed nuclear weapons but that did little to the monsters. Humans on the other hand were almost wiped out.
What remained of human kind formed an alliance providing shelther for humans in large bases.
Much like the animals of earth the humans have also seems to mutate, as some of them have gained powers allowing for them to known as warriors, humanity's last defenders.
All seemed to be fine as warriors fought through the monsters, making enough room for humanity to flourish until, the gates appeared.
The gates connected Earth to various other worlds and that's how the Kalin came through to Earth.
The Kalin were the first to enter Earth. They had the same physique as humans except for horns, tails and tattoos. They demanded humans yo give up their resources and become their slaves.
Humans would not concede to this and they began to fight, it was clear that humans were at a disadvantage as The Kalin were more advanced technologically and bullets couldn't pierce their skin.
Thankfully for the humans, they had warriors, the warriors managed to push back the enemy but never had enough to win so in the end, a peace treaty were signed but the two species are always at each others necks so the next war is only inevitable.
The warriors gain superpowers by coming in contact with an high dose of psiconic energy which is usually a psiconic crystal.
Superpowers vary in abilities but they have been grouped into five; support, special, physical, elemental Control and attack.
Support is self explanatory, take increased learning it basically makes things easier for the person.
Physical abilities affect the body in some way, increasing speed, strength and other physical qualities.
Elemental Control enables one to control an element like fire, water and the rest while element attack utilizes an attack using that element.
Special abilities are unique and can not be classified into the others.
Superpowers are ranked from F to S class with F class being weakest and S class being strongest.
These ranks determine the amount of power a skill can release, for example E class Super strength can lift a car with difficulty while B class can lift a whole house with little to no effort.
"Quint, are you paying attention to me." Leo asked, snapping his finger, seeing Quinn space out.
"Yeah, sorry about that I was thinking about the awakening." Quinn said
" What did I tell you, don't worry plus if you don't get a power I'll help you out"
Even though he wouldn't like to disturb his friend, his heart felt warm to know he had such a friend.
At that moment, their teacher walked into the room with another man by his side.
"Okay class, settle down." Their teacher yelled for the class to be quiet before nodding for the man to start.
"So far, they are fifty F ranked warriors, nineteen E rank warriors, seven D rank warriors, five C rank warriors and a B rank warrior."
" I hope you to surpass these ranks." He said before signalling for the class to follow him to a room.
Along the way, chatter could be heard as the student talked about whether they could surpass the B rank. It wouldn't be a lie to say they were envious.
Although right now, they were classmates once they awaken their powers the gap in between them would only increase.
Those who awaken who would be looked up to but those who didn't where to live normally.
It didn't take long for them to get to the room and in the middle, a machine which looked like a chair with a crystal on it.
To awaken one's powers was easy as you would only need a high source of psiconic energy and if you had the gift, you would absorb it and gain your powers.
Only those above sixteen could attempt to gain powers as those younger would be injured to a very bad extent.
"As I call out your name, you will sit in the chair."
"Jane."
A female stepped out before laying on the machine,it didn't take long before the machine beeped.
"Jane, E rank ability, support class super speed."
Hearing the man's words, Jane breathed a sigh of relief. Although E class wasn't high, at least she was better than F.
"Wendy"
Another girl walked up with her body shivering.
"Wendy, no power detected."
Once she heard that, she ran out of the room with tears in her eyes. It was expected that most of the population were normal people.
Time passed as every one went through the machine, the amount of normals were 28 and that was from a class of 46. The highest power was a D class physical ability.
"Quintin"
Quint took in a deep breath before walking up to the machine with fists closed.
