Jack saw that the couple's conversation died down, so he prepared to make his move to finally level up.
Earlier that day while he wandered around Jack considered what would scare the couple most in the world so he could get the most out of them to level up.
After thinking for a long time he concluded only one thing can frighten them that much. if something potentially happened to that person as a parent they will feel like the world has ended.
Angelica. If something happened to their daughter they will feel despair like no other.
Unfortunately or fortunately, Jack hasn't fallen so low that he will do something to the little kid just to get the experience he needs.
However, that doesn't mean that he can't make them think something happened to her, Jack thought shrewdly.
After their conversation, while the couple snuggled together on the bed and closed their eyes to sleep, Jack phased through the door and turned right down the hall towards Angelica's room as he went over his plan in his head.
Jack walked to the basement door and fully concentrated on his hand as he reached toward the doorknob preparing to open the door.
*Bang*
Jack opened it and slammed it shut as fast as possible to not use too much energy. Even so, he noticed he used up half of his energy just for that as he glanced at his status.
[5/10]
As he glanced at his energy right after slamming the door he quickly started to walk while focusing on his feet.
*Pat* *Pat* *Pat*
He made three footsteps right in succession and made his way just outside Angelica's room and waited.
Let's go back to a little earlier just before Jack slammed the door.
David and Sarah cuddled and basked in each other's warmth like a couple of lovebirds trying to relax after that stressful conversation.
Suddenly they heard a door slamming and both of them jerked awake in fright and sat up in unison looking terrified.
They looked at each other and then at the door to the living room. Before they could even comprehend what was happening after being half asleep they heard loud footsteps heading to the front door.
"Angelica!!" x2
They shouted their daughter's name in unison before jumping out of bed with David more like falling out of bed and almost planting his face to the floor as he tripped in his hurry and concern.
Even though he almost fell out of his bed in a hurry David was the first to reach the door and ran out while looking to grab whatever he could find as a weapon.
After grabbing a vase off of the shelf in the hallway toward Angelica's room he made it to the entryway to the hall where Angelica's room while Sarah followed behind a bit slower to grab a broom and turn the lights on.
David ran to his daughter's room barely noticing the sudden coldness, he opened Angelica's room expecting the worst as he walked in with the vase raised and ready for anything. However, he only saw her sitting up in bed.
"What's wrong daddy?" Angelica asked as she rubbed the sleep out of her eyes looking extremely cute.
Frozen as he expected the worst, Sarah rushed past him having dropped the broom and almost knocking David over as she came to Angelica's side and hugged her little head into her breasts.
"Thank God, you are alright." Sarah mumbled as she held onto her daughter as though if she let her go she would disappear and never see her again.
Meanwhile, as the family is in relief, Jack heard a ding from his system so he checked his status excitedly.

Jack seeing his energy regained from that level up decided to strike while the iron was hot.
He thought quickly while looking around outside the basement door and planning what to do next and thinking about what he can use now that his energy is higher.
David finally came to his senses as he watched them hug and put the vase that he was holding on a shelf in Angelica's room. Thinking about what had just happened and what they just experienced.
David looked around for anything out of place. Seeing nothing abnormal in Angelica's room he turned around and looked into the hallway by the front door.
*Click* *Creak*
As David checked the front door to make sure it was locked he suddenly heard a door knob turning and a door opening.
Swiftly locating the sound he turned to the basement door seeing it slowly creak open.
David slowly made his way to the door while picking up the broom his wife dropped and looked down the staircase. Seeing nothing he made his way down the stairs and flipped the light switch at the bottom.
He looked around with a broom raised and still saw nothing. At this point, David who was feeling tensed the whole time relaxed a bit so he looked around for a little longer checking every nook and cranny but found nothing.
He then made his way back to the stairs. Before he made his way back up he took one last look around and turned the lights back off.
As soon as he turned after turning the lights off he saw a shadow standing at the top of the stairs looking down at him. He and the shadow stared at each other for a couple of seconds before the shadow turned and walked toward Angelica's room.
David who was at first frozen in fear seeing something that looked like a silhouette made out of pure darkness quickly got himself together when he saw the figure move to his daughter's room.
"Sarah!!" David yelled in warning as he ran as fast as he could up the stairs before turning, prepared to use the broom, He saw nothing.
