Chapter 2 - Father, It’s Really You…

The middle-aged man who was her father, Mr. Bellegard, scolded in pure anger, and Yennefer stood, staring at him.

"Father, It's really you. You came out."

A look of happiness emerged on her face and she moved to hug him, but disgusted by her, Mr. Bellegard pushed her, causing her to fall down on the wet concrete.

"Don't you dare come near me with your filthy body! I have warned you! You are not my daughter, and the next time you cross this boundary, your pitiful self will regret it."

He scoffed and spat on the floor with a look of resentment in his brown eyes.

"I'd rather castrate myself than have you as my daughter. You are better off dead. A child like you, born of adultery can never be accepted into my home!"

He declared, and this stomped Yennefer like a huge foot on the heart.

"Father..." She whispered in deep pain and immediately began to struggle when her father's bodyguards gripped her harshly by the arm and threw her off her father's property.

They walked inside and locked the gate, leaving her on the floor, writhing in pain.

She groaned in agony and clutched her head, which was hurting badly.

Her eyes gazed at the dark sky and a half smile emerged on her face.

"Can there ever be anyone more miserable than me?" She asked herself, and when she got no answer to her question, she sat up on the floor.

She carefully stood up on her feet and shook her head to chase away the dizziness she was feeling.

"What can I do now?" She asked herself in amusement, as though she had gone crazy and shoved her hands into the pocket of her pants.

She began to hurry down the road, and it took her a few long minutes before she stopped walking, having arrived at her destination.

A smile appeared on her face as she stared at the only suicide block, where those who no longer wanted to live come to unalive themselves.

"It will be worth it, right? No more pain, no more agony, no more sadness, but only relief and peace will come."

She said to herself as though trying to convince herself to do it, and walked up the stairs that led up to the high rock.

Jumping off from there, an instant death was guaranteed.

She sighed deeply and gazed at the far view before closing her eyes.

"It is not my fault and I am not a coward. I have tried for seven years of my life, bearing unbearable hatred from the ones who are meant to protect and love me. If anything, it's their fault."

A bubble of tears dripped from her eyes, and before she could make any move, her phone, which was inside her pocket, abruptly rang.

She brought it out and looked at it to see that it was the one person who she would say cared for her that was calling her.

She picked up the call, and the young male voice flew into her ears.

"Lil girl, please tell me that you're not about to do something horrible. Why am I suddenly feeling so unsettled?"

The boy on the other side of the phone asked in a scared voice, and Yennefer's heart skipped a bit.

"Andy..." She said his name in what came out as a whisper.

"Yes, it's me, Lil girl. Please don't do this! I promised you that I would save you. I will help you and I will let you see that all you need is a new life and you will find the happiness you deserve. I promised you that and I will do anything in my power to see that it is possible."

He assured her, and Yennefer stayed silent for a few seconds before a soft smile emerged on her face.

"I know, Andy. You promised me, but life has really become too unbearable for me. I thought I had hope, but the two people who were meant to love me crushed it and wished me dead. If even my parents could wish my death, Andy, then what am I living for?"

She asked with deep pain in her voice and soft sighs fled Andy's nose.

"Look, little girl, I know you are tired and all, but please trust me. Please, I will save you, and you will see that you don't need to die to be happy."

He pleaded with her, and a soft smile emerged on Yennefer's face.

"Well, maybe you're-"

"Hmph! Another lad is about to end her life. I really wonder if they really think death is the only way. I mean, can't they just grab a drink or something and sober up in their room till they feel better?"

An old man scoffed in disdain, and Yennefer gazed at him as he walked down the road.

Her eyes blinked rapidly, and as though she had suddenly made up her mind, she let out a long, deep breath.

"Well, Andy, I will be waiting for you to save me then."

A sudden, unexpected smile ensued on her face and she cut the call.

She hurried down the stairs and began to rush towards the best liquor store she knew.

Sobering up may be just what she needs right now.
