After resting for quite a while, Ferdinand picked himself up, and he also helped up his men. They observed their surroundings and this time they walked much more slowly. It still baffled Ferdinand at how, when they were dashing earlier before coming into a halt, no walkers charged at them, yet when he just stepped into a mere twig, walkers suddenly detected him and his men. Furthermore, this twig that he stepped on was very loud. It's as if it had reached the heavens itself. It's good that it only attracted six walkers, which was enough for them to handle. Though he may need to resolve a lingering issue eventually. That they were almost overwhelmed by six mere walkers.

Ferdinand understands that six walkers were all level 4, but that doesn't change the fact that his soldiers were still inexperienced. Now that he had thought about it now. It seemed like that the doctrines available to him were only for against combatants with the same weapons as his or comparable to his. Though there are a lot of good doctrines to be used against overall such as in humans and walkers, which is superior firepower doctrine.

Ferdinand was thinking deeply now. It's most likely that he'll have to make doctrines himself against walkers. Though the system once said that higher-level walkers possess much higher intelligence and can handle firearms and weapons. He doubts he would need to face them at an earlier time, so he needs to develop a counter-strategy for the current walkers. Because in due time, they might once again get overwhelmed. The walker's strategy seemed like mass assault doctrine but it is unpredictable as they possess intelligence.

Unlike the walkers that Ferdinand had read on his fiction books from the Imperial Federation, the walkers there were mindless and didn't possess intelligence, so they were very much predictable. Eventually Ferdinand would have to assume that he's fighting against humans, even though they are walkers as they possess intelligence.

Ferdinand was then forcefully snapped out of his deep thought by Waylen.

"Commander!" Said Waylen

"Y-yes?" Said Ferdinand

"Commander, we had found a cave," Said Waylen

"That's great to hear." Said Ferdinand

They then marched towards the area where they found the cave.

"Commander, we have a question. How're we going to bring back the resources that we can mine?"

"Don't worry, I have a spatial inventory of about 10 meters. We can put the stuff we had mine in there. Hold on, I'll check if it really was 10 meters," Said Ferdinand.

"Alright Commander" Said Waylen

After checking for a while, Ferdinand had confirmed that it was in fact 10 meters, so he once again confirmed it to his men or soldiers.

They then started and went into the cave they go. The one who's expert in this field is Waylen, and so they will defend him as he is searching for the source of metals that they can use for their ammunitions and weapons manufacturing. Truth to be told, Ferdinand does not know on what they're trying to find. He just placed his bets and his faith on his subjects that they could help him.

As they get nearer and nearer to the cave, Waylen then suddenly became excited, which baffled Ferdinand. It is most likely that he had immediately found the required resources they will use.

"Commander, I've found plenty of metal deposits outside of the cave. Should we enter the cave or shall we gather resources outside first?" Said Waylen.

"Hm, I think we should explore at least a few dozen metres inside the cave to make sure, and we're only going where the sunlight hits, as we still don't have the equipment to go further in the caves. Good thing is that there are natural deposits outside of the cave." Said Ferdinand.

"We await your command, Commander." Said Waylen.

After they moved in, the group looked at the surroundings. The walls of the cave were very narrow, as a rotten smell permeates through the surroundings. As darkness swallows the inside, the sunlight illuminates the surroundings. Sensing an impending doom, Ferdinand and his soldiers immediately raised their knives.

A few moments later, a shriek was heard from further inside, to which Ferdinand decisively ordered his soldiers to slowly step back so the sunlight would provide illumination with what they are fighting. Soon enough, then the walker was finally illuminated but this time the walker was different as the eyes of it were red. This sent chills between the soldiers and Ferdinand. They still have to hold their ground.

Suddenly the walker that they were seeing suddenly dashed towards them. Ferdinand immediately raised his knife and braced for combat. The walker was quick than the ones they have been fighting as if its speed were doubled. The walker charged at Ferdinand and then slashed down at Ferdinand. Simpson, sensing the impending doom that's about to befall to his commander, immediately grabbed the commander's collar and pulled him back.

After the Commander was pulled back, Simpson and Waylen both raised their knives and stabbed at the walker whom have failed at attacking their commander. Soon after a crimson blood gushed out of the headless walker and soon fell to the ground lifeless.
