Chapter 3 - New Day

The next morning, Mira woke up to the sound of birds chirping outside the window. She sat up in bed and looked around the room, feeling a sense of disorientation. For a moment, she had forgotten where she was.

Then the events of the previous day flooded back to her. She was in a new world, with no way of getting back to her own. But she was determined to make the most of it.

She got out of bed and stretched, feeling the kinks in her muscles loosen up. She walked over to the window and looked outside, taking in the sights and sounds of the city. It was a beautiful day, with blue skies and sunshine.

She turned away from the window and looked around the room, wondering what she should do next. Mei had said that she had to go to school, but Mira had no idea what that entailed.

She got dressed in the clothes that Mei had given her and walked out of the room, hoping to find Mei in the apartment. She walked into the living room and saw Mei sitting on the couch, drinking a cup of coffee.

"Good morning!" Mei said, looking up as Mira walked in. "Sleep well?"

Mira nodded. "Yeah, thanks. So, about school..."

Mei smiled. "Don't worry, I've got you covered. I'm a teacher at the local high school, and today is the first day of school. You can come with me and observe a few classes, get a feel for how things work around here."

Mira nodded, feeling grateful for Mei's guidance. She followed Mei out of the apartment and down the street to the school. It was a large, imposing building, with brick walls and tall windows.

As they walked through the hallways, Mira felt a sense of wonder. There were so many students here, all of them rushing to their classes. She saw lockers lining the walls, and heard the sound of chatter and laughter echoing through the halls.

Mei led her to a classroom and introduced her to the teacher, a kind-looking woman named Ms. Johnson. Mira sat in the back of the room, watching as the students filed in.

The class began, and Mira was fascinated by what she saw. The students were learning about history, and Ms. Johnson was showing them pictures of ancient civilizations and explaining their significance.

Mira had never learned about this kind of history before. In her world, history was told through stories and legends, not through textbooks and lectures.

As the class ended, Mira stood up to leave. She felt a tap on her shoulder and turned to see a girl standing behind her.

"Hi!" the girl said, smiling. "I'm Lily. You're new here, right?"

Mira nodded, feeling a little shy. She wasn't used to meeting new people.

"Well, welcome to our school!" Lily said, still smiling. "Do you want me to show you around?"

Mira felt a sense of gratitude towards the girl. She was kind and welcoming, and it made her feel a little less alone in this new world.

"Sure, that would be great," Mira said, smiling back at her.

Lily led her through the hallways, pointing out different classrooms and telling her about the different teachers. Mira was grateful for her guidance, and for the sense of community that she felt here.

As the day wore on, Mira found herself growing more and more comfortable in this new world. She knew that there were still challenges ahead, but she was ready to face them head-on. She had found a friend in Mei, and now she had found a friend in Lily.

She was excited to see what the future had in store for her.
