Sage awoke the next morning feeling full. She had no recollection of what had transpired the previous night or of her dreams.
The door opened just as she got out of bed to see a smiling Ava.
"Good morning your Majesty," Ava greeted and Sage smiled in reply.
"This is Cyrus's room right?" Sage asked curiously.
"Yes," Ava replied.
"I want to have my own room." Sage said with an angry pout.
"His highness barely sleeps in his room, he always go out at night." Ava said.
Sage nodded. Cyrus had never intended to sleep in the room but she still wanted to have her own room.
"You have to get dressed, Lady Mirabella wants to go into town with you." Ava informed.
"Oh," Sage sighed. "What is the relationship between Isabella and Cyrus?" She asked inquisitively.
"Well, lady Isabella is in love with his majesty. We all actually thought she would become his wife. Seeing that you are now his wife is an unexpected turn." Ava replied and Sage nodded frowning to herself why was so curious about Cyrus's life.
In no time, Sage was ready for the day by Ava who then led her to the dinning room where Charlotte, Isabella, Mirabella and some women were seated.
"Good morning Sage," Charlotte greeted as she dabbed the side of her lips with a napkin.
"A good morning indeed, Duchess Charlotte," Sage smiled and took her seat.
That morning, she was relieved not to run into Cyrus and his demon panthers, but she felt empty without the nine-tailed fox.
Seeing Sage smiling, Isabella cleared her throat loudly and asked, "Did you notice anything strange in Cyrus yesterday?"
"Strange?" Sage asked thoughtfully as Ava served her food.
"Yes strange." Isabella replied slowly.
"Do not concern yourself with Cyrus and his wife, Isabella," Mirabella who was focus on eating her breakfast said calmly.
"His dark state?" Sage asked Isabella who nodded smiling weirdly.
"Yes, charming isn't he?" She asked with a mocking giggle.
"Eat up your majesty," Ava said to Sage, bowed and left the dinning room.
Sage took the knife and fork and began to cut the meat slowly. Isabella was obviously waiting for an answer and it was clear that she hated Sage,
"Ruthless," Sage muttered and placed a piece of meat in her mouth.
"You are going to bear my child whether you like it or not." His voice echoed in her head and she immediately choked on the meat in her mouth.
She stood up from the chair coughing violently. While maids rushed into the dinning room, the women on the table all stood up looking worried with an exception of Isabella who had a big smile on her face.
They all pointed cups of water to her but she avoided them and ran out of the dinning room hitting her chest, coughing hard and heaving for air with her eyes closed.
"Such a hassle," A heard a deep voice scoff at the same time, she bumped into the same person and opened her eyes seeing Cyrus who was now back to his original state, glaring at her.
"I.." She tried to speak but she was still choking and coughing.
Sage felt as if she was about to die and seeing Cyrus staring at her, waiting for her to die, made her furious.
"You are strong," Cyrus said and titled his head to the side, his ice blue eyes boring into her teary emerald eyes.
"Your majesty!" Maids shouted as they arrived at the scene with Charlotte and Mirabella all looking anxious.
Cyrus flicked Sage's forehead and patted her back.
Sage immediately coughed last time, hard and Cyrus wrapped his arms around her making sure her face was buried in his coat covered chest allowing her to cough out the meat on his clothes.
"Good parrot," Cyrus chuckled caressing her hair while she began breathing slowly.
Everyone sighed in relief and the maids all left the scene.
"You are a savior!" Charlotte gasped and walked towards Cyrus and Sage.
"Maybe," Cyrus mumbled and held Sage even closer.
Sage felt alright and tried to struggle out of Cyrus's grip but he wasn't budging.
"Will she be alright to follow me into town?" Mirabella asked Cyrus.
"Unfortunately no, we have some scores to settle." Cyrus replied and Mirabella nodded even though she was curious.
"Alright then," Mirabella said and she and Charlotte left the couple alone.
Cyrus released Sage, grabbed her arm, removed her mitten and used it to clean off the coughed out meat on his white coat.
"I told you not to touch me." Sage spat angrily.
"So ungrateful," Cyrus scoffed.
"I do not understand what the difference is between your normal state and your dark state." Sage said angrily.
He was still the same to her only that his hair and eyes changed.
"I have two sides because I am the only one in my lineage who is highly connected to my guardians. My dark state differs me from being just a normal ice dragon." Cyrus replied nonchalantly, grabbed her wrist and placed the mitten on her palm. "My dark state is more like an armor because my heart is eternally frozen in my dark state and in my normal state, I am not sure."
Sage's eyes widened. "Frozen heart?"
Cyrus hummed, his grip tightened around her wrist. "Do not struggle."
"I won't if you release my wrist." Sage told him angrily.
His icy blue eyes narrowed at her. "Defying me will only make me rush to claim you dear parrot," He uttered in the most sinister way ever that blasted shock into her body.
Fire bursted out of her hand but his grip around her wrist was firm. They stared at each other with extreme rage and hatred. The tension around them was getting higher and so was the raging fire on Sage's hand.
"Do not touch me Cyrus Dragos," Sage hissed threw her teeth.
"You are curious about me and that is very bad. If you keep asking questions, you will die earlier than I want you to die." Cyrus said staring at her lazily.
"Okay, enough of this!" Sage shouted in frustration.
With an amused smile, Cyrus released her wrist and the fire on her hand blasted towards him only for him to dodge.
Sage was enraged by the man. He was making her regret all her life decisions. She just wanted to kill him and go back to her home.
The fire turned into a flaming whip, her emerald eyes turned fiery red and the fire whip swayed from side to side as she was ready to wipe out Cyrus who stood relaxed with his hands in his pocket.
"Fire and ice do not mix dear parrot," Cyrus said with an amused tone.
Sage's lips curled and she said, "But fire melts ice,"
Cyrus eyes narrowed further at her. "Do not make me freeze your soul." He growled with full displeasure.
Sage scoffed and rolled her eyes. "Of course," She launched at him.
