"My lady mother has been getting anxious," Beom says slowly, he always does, the pauses in between make his words appear ambiguous. "Why is the princess yet to reach Silla - what could possibly - hold her back?"
Seo shrugs. This game of Beom he had played and grown tired of. He knew enough of the older man to realize that indifference drove him mad. It was just what Seo needed, a little distracted Beom. He had his own questions that required answers, questions Beom's abrupt visit gave rise to. He decides to play coy instead.
"I don't know. Maybe an imperial edict?"
The suggestive note of his voice makes Beom's nostrils flare. His slanted eyes flash.
"His majesty would never break his lady sister's trust, now - would he - young master Kang? Not when the nation is at the brink of war and we hold the most important asset of the empire - its coastline…"
"Beom gun mama, it's not the grand princess, nor your clan. It's you."
"I beg your pardon?"
