Chapter 1 - Meeting him

September 6th 2021. That's the day I met him.

I was at my best friend Madisyn's house, making mac and cheese for the children. Whilst I was in the kitchen, stirring the pasta noodles in, Gavin came home. Behind him was a boy I'd never seen before. I've gotta admit, I found him really attractive. Him and I shared an awkward little smile before him and Gavin went outside to smoke.

I continued to stir the noodles until they looked done and turned off the burner. I tried to lift the pot, failing miserably considering I didn't have very much strength in my arms. So I did the one thing I could think of. I called out for Gavin to come help me. He of course said no, as he never really liked me. But in came Hayden, ready to help with the same awkward smile on his face. He helped me finish making the food and even helped me serve it for the kids. I had definitely developed a crush.

That day went about the same as any other day, except for the part where I drooled over this boy I had just met. He seemed to have been interested in me too, but it was hard to tell. He was definitely shy. That didn't stop him from helping me out whenever he could though. Madisyn and her mom weren't much help, leaving me to do it. So I was glad to have the extra hands.

That night we celebrated his and Gavin's birthdays. Hayden was born September 2nd and Gavin was born September 8th. I was surprised because my brother RJ was also born September 2nd.

Whilst sitting on the porch together, I felt the need to flirt a little bit, sending a small kick to his shins. He looked up at me for a moment before giving me a small kick back. We went back and forth for a while, and not long after he was chasing me down the street trying to tickle me. I of course, cackled the entire way as he started to catch up to me.

It's funny, telling the story of how we met. Most people give me a weird look when I tell them that he opened up to me because I wanted to play fight.
