Chapter 11 - Stay in my place

While Aera is getting ready for class, her doorbell rings. She approached the door with suspicion. She inquires, "Who are you?"

"It's me, Lucas, your brother. Please, open the door. Aera, I'd like to speak with you."

"I don't want to talk to you," she said, without even opening the door. "Just get out of here."

"Aera. Why are you treating me like this? Nothing was done by me. Let me explain it first. Please open the door."

Aera is standing silently behind the doors, and not responding to him. "Okay, Aera. I will give some time to you. Now, I am leaving." Lucas left.

Then Aera stopped by Jenny's restaurant. She was chowing down on the noodles.

While Jenny called Bo-ra, "Hey, Bo-ra."

"What? What made you call so early?" says Bo-ra from the other side of call.

"Aera is now eating at my restaurant."

"Aera! Wait, I'll be there in a minute."

"No… Please, don't come here. Bo-ra, Bo-ra..." Bo-ra hangs up the phone while Jenny is speaking.

"If Aera sees her, she will become much angrier. What am I supposed to do?"

Bo-ra walked into the restaurant, "Aera, I want to speak to you."

When Aera saw her, she became enraged. She put down her chopstick and stood up. Jenny approached Aera, "Aera, sit and eat. You already appear to be frail. Bo-ra, we'll talk about it later. Just get out of here."

"Why should I leave? I didn't do anything wrong."

Aera chuckles, "Then I will leave. Don't get into my way again." Aera left.

Jenny said, "Bo-ra, what are you doing here? I warned you not to come here. She barely ate the meal." Bo-ra was glancing at Aera as she walked out of the restaurant.

Aera was walking down the street while she bumped into a man. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry..." She apologized while looking at the man, who turned out to be Han-na.

"Han-na!"

Both were seated and conversing. Han-na starts, "I am sorry. Because of us, you've had to go through a lot."

"No, it is not because of you. It's okay. I will get through it."

"And about Bo-ra?"

Aera stated with a smile, "Bo-ra did it to protect me. She had done nothing wrong. I, too, want to vent my rage at someone. It takes some time for everything to settle down... Then I leave, I have class to attend."

Han-na says, interrupting her, "Wait… Have you eaten? I didn't eat anything. I always dine with someone. Just eat with me."

"No. I already ate."

"I think you didn't eat properly, based on your appearance. Just eat with me. Don't hesitate." Then they begin to eat.

Han-na asks, "How is it?"

As she taste the meal, "Wow. Amazing. Is it you prepared this food?"

"Yes," Han-na answered with a smile. Then you can share my morning food with me. I am a great cook."

"No, no."

"I eat my morning breakfast by myself. I'd like to share my cooking skills."

Jimin came out of the car. The opulent estate is encircled by beautiful planted gardens. He walked into the home. The residence has the appearance of a palace and is equipped with high-end amenities. The living room is spacious, with a huge chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Because of the lighting, that place is glinting.

There were a lot of men in black coats and a lot of women in black shirts and skirt uniforms. The female employees are identifiable by their number, which ranges from 1, 2, 3 …

Anderson ascended the staircase, which was quite wide. He said, "Rang, I want to meet all the men who are dealing with our business within an hour."

There was a large meeting room in Anderson's residence. Anderson is seated in the center and Rang is standing next to him. Everyone in the hall seemed to be talking about him.

"It's been a long time since we all have seen each other. Isn't it true that everyone assumed I was dead?"

Surprisingly, everyone turns their gaze to him.

"From now on, I'm going to take care of my business. You didn't pay my shares for the last five years, right? I want my entire share of the last five years."

Everyone is making noise. Anderson shouted at them, "Stop it."

"I'd like a 20% bonus on top of my share."

Someone in the meeting, a man said, "Why would we give you those shares. In the last few years, you haven't even been in here. We were the ones who handled those matters. As a result, we are deserving of the funds. We're not going to give you any money."

The man was frightened when Anderson removed his revolver from his pocket and placed it on the table. "You believe that if you raise your voice towards me, I would leave you alone. I am the one who gives you everything. And I know how to retrieve them. How dare you speak towards me?"

"Do you believe after five years, I've become such a kind person? Don't give little bit thought of it. I'm certain, someone in this meeting hall, did the bomb blast thing with Jeson. If I find out who did it. I won't sit and comprise with you."

"Then you, Mr. Choi. I heard you're doing drug selling with some school students in one of my bars. I'm giving you two days to get rid of that drug shit. I won't tolerate it any longer. Just focus on the liquor business. Otherwise, I will cast you out onto the streets once more."

"And to you all, I give you a week. I want a 20% bonus on top of my share. And don't do anything out of business. I am keeping an eye on you all. Now leave."

Anderson then walked to his room. Surprisingly, he looked around the room. He lie down peacefully on the bed

On the next morning, Aera hears her doorbell rings. She hesitated as she approached the door. "Who? Lucas, just leave. I told you don't come here again."

Outside, though, there is no sound. She took her time opening the door. However, there was no one inside. When she looked down, she noticed some crates. When she opened it, there was food inside. Along with the package, there came a piece of paper, 'Eat well.'

She consumed the meal. She saw her mum when she entered college. Her mother followed her as Aera turned away. "Aera, wait."

Aera came to a halt and turned around, "Mom, just go. I am tired. I don't want to speak with you any longer."

"Sorry Aera. But I don't have any explanations for you. I did that to prot—"

"Mom, stop it. Don't concern about me anymore. From the age of five, I've been relying solely on myself. Look at me, I've grown up well. Now I protect myself. And I am going to protect myself for the rest of the years, too. And I am going to forget about what happened that day. Don't worry. Live your life and let me live peacefully." As Aera said, she walked away.

"Mr. Lee." Lee heard a voice while he was walking into lobby in his office.

"You are Aera's elder brother. Right?" said Lee.

"Yes. My name is Lucas. Could you spare some time for me?"

Both were talking, "I had no idea that Jeson had two children."

Lucas gave a warm grim.

Lee continues, "Then how is your father's Mafia business going? Have you also been accompanied by your father's business?"

"No. don't mistaken me. I am doing some legitimate business. Honestly speaking, I am an attorney." Passing his business card to Lee. "I have nothing to do with my father."

"All well, then. I am going to catch your father as soon as possible with proper evidence."

Lucas chuckled, "I won't let you do that. Don't mistake me for a kid. I am also an adult. I'll defend my father."

"Then we will see who will win. Take care of your father. Storm is coming forward towards your father."

"What storm? What are you talking about? No one ever got near my father."

"What if it touched your sister?"

"What did you just say?" Lucas inquired as he approached him, perplexed. "Who got close to my sister?"

"Hold on a second." As Lee said, he chuckled, "You didn't know the news. Anderson is not dead yet. He is still alive."

"How could that happen? He might die in the-?"

Lee said, "What? Do you have any apprehensions of him? I have some more fascinating information about him and your sister to share with you. Anderson lived with your sister for a month."

"With my sister!"

"Yes, your sister was the one who took care of him. She fed him, she aided him and looked after him."

"What does that mean?"

"Go ask your sister if Anderson is alive or not?"

"Dad, dad…" shouted Lucas to his father at the hotel.

"What's the matter?"

"Is it true, that Anderson is still alive?"

Aera's father remained silent, seemed so confused. "How did you find out about that?"

"Dad, answer me. Is Anderson still alive? How could that be possible? He is dead, dad... Right?"

Aera's father said, "Calm down, son. He is alive."

Lucas gets shocked and shouted, "Ahhh... Shit..."

"I recently came to know that he was alive after heard it from, some goons. Don't worry, Lucas. I will take care of him."

"Dad, how could you possibly do that? He won't die that easily. Whenever I think about him, it drives me crazy."

"First, we should all leave this place, Lucas. This isn't safe for us. And Aera too…What if—"

"Aera, Aera, Aera…!" as Lucas yelled, he rushed into Aera's house.

"Lucas, where are you going?" said Aera's father.

"Aera, open the door. Aera..." Lucas cried from the outside of Aera's house. He starts yelling, then tries to call her, but she doesn't answer.

In the Tent Bar, Aera is drinking. When her phone rang, she looked at it but hung up. And she keeps drinking. While Han-na was passing by on that side, his gaze was drawn to Aera.

He approached her, "Aera."

"Han-na, what are you doing here?"

"I'm wondering the same thing. I reside in the neighborhood."

"Here. Ohh… Ok. Then join with me."

Han-na and Aera are drinking. "This place is a long way from your residence. What brought you here?"

"Beats me. I just took some walks. I kept walking, walking and walking… I'm not sure how I ended up here. Is this place far away from my residence?"

"Very far away."

Aera sighed, leaning her head against the table. Han-na gives her a friendly smile. "What? It's almost midnight. Go back to your place."

"I don't want to return to my place."

"Why?"

"My place appears to be deserted. Without Jimin, my living room would look like a haunted place. When I first walked into the house, I looked around to see if Jimin was present. But every time I glance around my house, I don't see Jimin. It hurts."

Han-na is tenderly staring at her. She continues, "What am I supposed to do?"

"Then stay at my place." Aera was startled. He continues, "Don't get me wrong. It's already late, and there isn't a bus available at this moment. My home is quite huge, with two rooms. Just for a night."

Aera is giving some thought for a moment and pouring the soju into a shot glass and drinking it. "Where is your house?"

Aera accompanied him to his home. She said, "Your room looks so nice."

"This side." He shows his bedroom to Aera.

"This is my bed room. Sleep here. If you need anything, call me." He turned off the lights and exited the room as he stated.

Han-na is smiling as he lies on the sofa.

Aera wakes up the next morning and takes a look around. "How could my room get to be so nice? No, this is not my house."

"Yes, this is my house." as Han-na said, entered the room with some breakfast.

"Eat this. This is hangover soup. It relieves the discomfort in your head." He puts the soup bowl closer to her.

Aera taste a sip of soup. And she remembered when Jimin made hangover soup for her, she smiled.

"Are you smiling? Why? Is it bad?"

"No. It is good. Thank you for letting me sleep at your place."

"With the exception of my buddies, I never let anyone into my residence. I let you in yesterday because you are my friend. I assumed you felt the same way about me. But you didn't consider me a friend."

"No. Bo-ra is a friend of mine, then her friend is my friend of mine. And... It was you who put the food outside at my house."

"Yes."

"Thank you for the food, both back then and now. I owe you. If you need anything ask me."

Han-na says with a smile, "Okay. Now eat the soup."

Anderson emerged from his house. Rang stopped him, "Sir, now only you came. You must take some rest. I will look after him."

"No. I'd like to go. Just start the car."

"Yes, sir."

Anderson visited a bar. That was so large that as he walked in, some of the men glanced at him. All of them were observed by Anderson. Rang said, "Sir, those are Choi thugs. There are several pupils there, as you can see."

"I don't intend to engage in combat with you. I've got a lot of work ahead of me. Just call your boss Choi."

As he spoke, a gang of thugs approached him and began beating him. Anderson clenched one of the thug's hands, twisted them, and held them backwards in his hands. "I told you, I didn't have time. Why are you making repeat myself?"

The men then gathered around him and urged him to attack. Anderson takes off his coat and gives it to Rang. He's the only one who can hit them all. He smashed the hands and legs of a few thugs... Choi entered when he was fighting.

"Anderson. I came, stop it." Choi stated.

"I told you not to do drug business in my bar," he says, grabbing Choi's collar. "How come you didn't hear me?"

Anderson spoke to the students as those who dressed in school uniforms. "This is the last time I saw you in a bar. If I see you again, that will be the last day of you all. Leave this place."

"Please, Anderson," Choi implored. "I'm not going to do anything else than business. Please spare me this one time."

"Rang, just expel him from the city. I am never going to see his face again." As he said he walked away and put back his coat on.

When Aera returned to her flat, she spotted Lucas waiting outside. She didn't even bother to look at him before attempting to open the door.

Lucas inquired, "Aera, where have you been? Where did you spend the night? Answer me."

She didn't seem to be interested in him. She walked in after opening the door. While following her, Lucas enters the residence.

"Aera, I am asking you. What have you been up to?"

"How is that supposed to concern you?" She took the bottle of water from the refrigerator and drank it.

Lucas get annoyed and asked, "How did you know about Anderson?"
