Chapter 7 - I like him

"Aera, get up and eat your breakfast," said Jimin.

Both of them were seated at the table. Aera begins, "I have some errands to run. So I'll be late."

"Okay. Let me know if you crave something to eat for dinner."

"Ok," When Aera's phone rings, she answers it. "New number...! Hello, who is this? Brother! It's been a long time since I've heard your voice." Aera cheerfully conversing on the phone.

"Brother!!! She has a brother." He was intriguedly looking at her.

"When you will be in Seoul? Okay, I'm looking forward to seeing you. Bye," she says as she hangs up the phone.

"Do you have a sibling?"

"Ahh… Sorry, I forgot to mention him to you. My brother—" The doorbell rings while Aera is chatting.

"Wait. I'll check that out." As she said she opened the door. "Post," she exclaims, "No one has ever sent me anything; is this really for me?"

"I'm sorry, mam. But I don't believe it's for you, mam. Are you Jimin? inquired the delivery guy.

"Ohh… Jimin. Just a moment. Jimin, you have a post." Jimin dashed to the door.

Aera gets upset, "For a little moment, I thought it's a message from my mother."

Jimin got the post and Aera staring him curiously, "Nowadays; no one sends postal mail. Where did it come from?"

Jimin said calmly, "This is from my cafeteria boss; he was away on business related work. He needs to complete various deliveries as soon as possible. So he sent me instead of him, and this is the delivery address, which I handle."

"Okay… Bye. It's getting late," as she said she went away. When Jimin opened the cover letter, he found paper with some addresses printed on it.

She walked into the elevator and spoke herself, "Jimin has a phone. Then, why did his boss use post cards to send an address? Ahh… That's none of my business."

Bo-ra entered into the Lee's office and took a seat. "Is still Han-na not came?" she questioned in quiet tones to Jeong.

"No."

"Where has he gone? He hasn't even answered my phone calls."

Suddenly Han-na stepped into Lee's office, Bo-ra asked him, "Hey, Han-na where did you go?" But Han-na turned on the television.

Everyone's focus was drawn to television, which was broadcasting news. The reporter claimed, "Some unidentified man was shot in his hotel room. The public was alarmed by the shot. The police have yet to recognize the victim"

Jeong questioned, "Who is he?"

"That is Min-joon," Lee stated as he walked into the room.

"Min-joon!" said Bo-ra.

"He was a Jeson's man. He partially deals with Jeson's illicit activities. He was one of Jeson's most prominent gang members." Lee stated.

"Jeson?" Bo-ra stares blankly at Han-na.

Han-na explains, "Jeson is Anderson's adversary. Like Anderson, Jeson engages in a lot of illegal activity. In the beginning of the 1990s, Jeson worked for Anderson's side and the two later fought over some stock complications involving a gambling company. He then leaves on his own to indulge in illicit activity."

Lee said, "Yes. He is right. It's only the beginning. My intuition told me, something big was about to happen soon. All of you should go to that Hotel. Report to me as soon as you come across anything odd."

"Yes, Mr. Lee."

Everyone went to the Hotel, which was surrounded by a large crowd. Bo-ra snatched Han-na's hands and went to alone place. "What?"

"Why are we doing here, exactly? We know that Anderson is in Seoul. We should track him down. We need to find him as soon as possible. If we find him before the cops, we'll have a better chance of catching him. Our company will receive the highest possible rating. Think about it."

Han-na gets mad. "Are you thinking that Mafia thing is a joke? They are not some pickpocketers or a crooked gambler or a con artist. They are the Mafia; they who carry out unthinkable deeds. They never looked at us as a soul. Please, come to your senses."

Then he calmed down and continued, "I know you love this job so much. But catching Mafia isn't our job. Let the cops do their work. When we get the photo of Anderson, we should leave silently. Please, don't do anything irrationally."

"If I said something appropriate, sorry. Come fast, we have work to do." As he said he walked away.

Bo-ra was put on hold for a few minutes. Then she proceeded to the front of the Hotel, where Jimin emerged from the crowd. Bo-ra noticed him, "Why Jimin came out of here?" She tried to address him, but abruptly stopped. She then proceeded to pursue him.

"Give me your pass book, ma'am." Aera hands her the Bank book.

"I applied for a car loan. Could you please confirm whether or not it has been approved?" Aera inquired of the Bank staff.

"Excuse me for a moment." The bank employee rummaged through the files on the computer.

"Everything looks fine. Your job and annual turnover, everything meets the requirements. Within a month, it will be approved."

"Thank you."

As soon as Aera exited the Bank, she purchased some white Chrysanthemums flowers. She hurried to the graveyard.

She laid the flowers on the tomb, which was named Jin-won. She sat down near the grave and placed a piece of paper on top of it.

"What are you looking? This is a car loan approval papers. Yes, we're going to buy a car in a month," she smiled at the grave.

"How are you doing?" "I am fine and happy. Bo-ra and Jenny are doing well too. I was also given a suspension. Now I'm back at work. Don't worry about me; I am in great shape."

"What? Why are you looking at me?" she said as she looked at the tomb. She rubs her back head. "Yes, I came early. Still, the month hasn't started yet. I've come to tell you something important."

She blushed and continues, "I have a man who I like. His name is Jimin. I found him on a street. Somehow he ended up in my house. We are staying together. No, no, no... It isn't like we were living together, we are just staying together."

"However, I'm starting to like him. I'm not sure how much I like him. And not having the courage to say that I like him. Falling in love is easy, but expressing our feelings to the person we love is difficult. Don't know when I am gonna tell him."

"Then, I am not here solely to tell you about Jimin. I came here because I missed you. Miss you, friend." She had a gloomy expression on her face as she gazed at the tomb.

"Where is he going? Is this a Hotel?" Bo-ra followed Jimin. He entered the hotel.

Aera says as she lies down near the tomb, "Friend, sleep. I'll sing you a song." She begins to sing.

"Once there was a cub, lived in the Jungle,

Cub doesn't know that he was the king of the Jungle;

Mmmhmm hmm… Mmmhmm, Mmmhmm..."

Jimin enters the hotel lobby with wearing a stern attitude.

Aera continues,

"When the cub realized that he was the king,

He became more terrified, for no one would be his friend;

Mmmhmm hmm… Mmmhmm, Mmmhmm…"

Jimin walked into Room 308, which he had opened. Bo-ra was still pursuing him.

Aera continues,

"He realized, if he doesn't use his power against them,

He might lose himself to them."

Jimin enters the bedroom with the knife he acquired from the dining table. While a man was putting on his shirt, Jimin pressed a knife against the man's neck from behind.

Aera concludes the song,

"At last, he kills them, in order to protect himself.

Mmmhmm hmm... Mmmhmm Mmmhmm..."

Bo-ra enters the room and opens the door, which is already open. She entered and looked around. Jimin sat on the sofa in the living room as a man in his late 30's kneeled in front of him. "What the hell is going on here? Why is that man kneeling in front of Jimin?"

Jimin brandishing a knife in his palm, and says, "Tell me. Who told you to do that?"

"I swear, I really don't know. Please believe me."

Jimin becomes enraged, and he suddenly slashed his face with the knife. Bo-ra became frightened, abruptly covering her mouth with her palm.

"I just received information from Cheong. Please spare me this one time." The man is pleading with Jimin.

"You haven't seen the news? I believe Min-joon died, and you obviously know who did that? Listen carefully, don't get into my business again. I won't let it slide again. I'm going to rip them apart one by one. Go and tell it to your boss. "

While Jimin was talking, Bo-ra took out her phone and snapped some photos. And she walked away with a jittering.

"Jenny," Aera said as she reached Jenny's restaurant.

"Hold on a second. You seemed to be in a good mood. What's the matter, tell me?"

"Nothing. Should we all feel happy if something good happens? There wasn't nothing much that happened, yet I am happy. Do you wanna drink with me?"

"Yes. I, too, crave to drink. Then I'll call Bo-ra too." As Jenny said, she dialed Bo-ra.

"Cheers," "Cheers," "Cheers." Three of them are drinking in a bar.

"Today's pay is on me," said Jenny.

"No, it's on me. I am overjoyed, so I'd like to spoil you." Aera glanced at Bo-ra and inquired, "Hey, why are you looking so down? Are you ill?"

The expression on Bo-ra's face appears to be troubled, "No. I am okay. It's just some work-related stress."

"As you mentioned, I remembered. What about Han-na?" Jenny was intriguingly asked.

"Han-na… Yes, we are getting along rather well."

"He likes you, right?"

"What are you babbling right now?" said Bo-ra.

Aera says, "Hey Jenny stop teasing her. She already seemed so tired. Just drink."

"Since we're on this subject. What about you and Jimin? Is there something going on between on you two?"

"Yes, I like him." As Aera said Bo-ra is taken aback.

"Stop joking around. I'm sure you are not the one, who falls in love easily." Said Jenny.

Aera raised her voice, "Hey, I really like him. You didn't believe her, when she said she didn't like Han-na. Now I am saying I like him, why you doesn't you believe me?"

Jenny laughed and said, "Yes, I will believe you, but I have some questions. If you pass, I will definitely believe you. I swear."

"What questions?"

"Hey Bo-ra, ask her the first question."

Bo-ra appeared to be in a bad mood, but she sought to change it. She told himself, "It's time to know about Jimin. What he is really capable of. So get your act together, Bo-ra. Please…."

Bo-ra asked, "Have you ever gone on a date?"

"When you are in love, a date is very important. Tell me. When did you go on a date?"

Aera recalls being caught up in a Eugene matter when Jimin informed her he was going to treat her. She appeared to be pondering something, seemed confused. "We really didn't go on dates. But we were supposed to go, but it was cancelled because of a last minute issue."

Aera laughed and continued, "What dates? Is it that important? We have been eating together daily and staying to..."

"Hey, stop it. That it is not a real date. You failed that question. Next one, if you ever said 'I love you' to each other."

Aera gave some thought, "I'm not sure we ever said that, although we did say 'Miss You' to each other. You know the word Miss you is more powerful than I love you."

Jenny yells angrily, "Cut out your nonsense. I am getting frustrated." As she said, she drank a shot of soju. "This is the last question. I believe you will undoubtedly fail."

"No. I am not going to fail. Just tell me the question."

Jenny warned, "Listen carefully, this is your last chance. Did you ever give him a kiss?"

Aera appears to have given up all hope. While Bo-ra is staring at Aera and thinking about what happened at the Hotel.

"Tell me. I know you never kissed him," said Jenny

"Yes, we never kissed too… but we hugged each other."

Jenny sighed, "You know my dog. Whenever I go home, I hug my dog daily. You failed our test. So I am going…" She became inebriated and passed out.

When Aera began to feel dizzy, Bo-ra noticed her. She said, "Aera, look at me."

"What?"

"That is... You told me that he was 22 years old. Then how did you fall in love with a young man? It doesn't make sense."

Aera laughed drunkenly at her. "You believed it, right?" she went near to Bo-ra's ear and whispered, "I lied to you."

"Lie…!"

"Yes, Lie. Jimin is 32 years old. I lied to you, because we are staying together. You might get the wrong idea, that's why I didn't tell you."

"Then you find him on the street as well, Aera."

"Yes, I found him on the street. But he was beaten up by some goons. I aided him." As Aera said, she passed out.

Bo-ra thinking about when she was looking through Lee's computer, Anderson files.

"Aera, wake up." Jimin tried to wake her up.

Bo-ra said, "Took a cab. She is not going to wake up. Today she drank a lot. Morning only she wakes up."

Jimin and Aera boarded a cab. "What am I going to do?" Bo-ra asks, strangely.

The next morning, Aera wakes up, "Ahh… my head hurts. How much did I drink the day before?" She tries to recall something, but nothing comes to her mind.

"Aera, Come. Eat this hangover soup." Jimin called her.

Both of them were eating quietly. "Jimin, was it yesterday that I drank a lot?" Aera asks hesitantly. Jimin gave her a friendly smile.

"Just a little bit more. Then Bo-ra contacted me, and I picked you up."

"Oh, Bo-ra was there too. I'll be late today since I have an additional class."

Aera put on her shoes, "Jimin, bye."

Jimin came to a halt in front of her and took the shoe he had bought. "Place this shoe on. With my pay, I bought these for you."

Aera smiled at him. "Thank you, but I am not going to wear these shoes."

"Why? You don't like these shoes?"

"No. I like very much these shoes. But, if I wear these shoes, it will become dusty and worn out."

"It's okay. I'll get you a new shoe if it wears out. Just put these shoes on."

"No, no, no... I am getting late, bye." She hurriedly moved away.

When Aera entered the main area, she heard a familiar voice. So she moved closer to the door where Eugene and Principal were conversing.

"I have already made a decision," the principal screamed. "So don't be obstinate. Just go back to Germany."

"Dad, why aren't you listening to me? I don't want to go. Please let me stay here with you. I'll never do anything to make you regret it." Eugene pleaded, as Aera stood outside, watching.

Principal responded calmly, "Sorry. I have no choice. Just understand my situation. This is your ticket; within a week you must leave. Leave this room now."

"Dad, dad, dad..." Eugene sobbed, and she came out of the room.

When she exited the room, she noticed Aera and abruptly changed her course. "Eugene, wait," Aera attempts to stop her. "I want to talk to you."

"I don't have time, just leave." Said brusquely.

Aera yelled, "Why? Why do you always push yourself so hard? Listen to me, I've forgotten everything about all you did to me. So..."

"What? I'm not looking for your forgiveness. You know, I am the one who messaged you the other night and dragged you out to the Terrace."

"Yes, I know. You were the one who took the ladder from the wall and then set it back on the wall, too… I know, so stop your nonsense."

Eugene interrupts Aera and says, "I despise you so much. Everything about you irritates me. When you stare at me with those pity eyes, I hate you so much. I saw you as you came to my house. You looked at my house so pitifully, that's why I did that thing. I'm not obliged to feel sorry for you. Get out of here." She walked away as she stated.

"Eugene, Eugene…"
