Chapter 8 - Dwindling time

Felix tried to catch up with the dwindling time.

Even so, the sailing sky ship made him looked up as he ran. His awe never waned until he accidentally bumped into someone. Felix's small cage fell over, and his body lay on the ground.

"Heh, you little shit! Look what you did!"

A large man dressed in a camouflage jacket glared at Felix with his round eyes almost jumping out. The curry he was carrying spilled all over his coat.

Felix knew he was wrong. "Sorry, I'll clean it up."

"Clean up, you say?" the man was annoyed at the camouflage jacket that had spilled curry. "I was going hunting, and because of this stain, my camouflage jacket is dirty. How can I hunt?"

Camouflage is essential for hunters. They use it to blend in with the natural surroundings to ambush or approach a target undetected. If the guise gives off a strange scent, the hunters can be easily detected.

The hunter girl held back her friend who was about to kick Felix. "Don't, don't, poor guy. You can buy a new jacket anyway."

"Hmp! Just because he's Basil's student, doesn't mean he can do everything on his own, right."

The hunter stepped over Felix's small cage before walking back to the village. The hunters who happened to pass by laughed at Felix.

"Look at disciple Basil. He's useless, a disgrace to the Longsword family alone."

"Not only useless, but he's also weak. A waste of Basil's precious time."

The hunters envied Felix who had the privilege of becoming a Longsword family member and receiving training from Basil.

Basil himself was a holy knight who was also an SSS grade hunter. Starting from commoners to princes scrambling to become his students, but Basil always refused them. That reason was enough to make Felix hated, especially since Felix's ability was below average for them.

"Oh no, my rabbits are running away!" Felix crawled like a cat, getting up to catch Doffus' rabbit, a rabbit with a fairly high jumping ability.

Every time he came close to catching the rabbit, it escaped with ease. Felix fell up and down several times for one rabbit.

Without a cage, things were difficult. He stuffed the rabbit into the collar of his black T-shirt. His black camouflage jacket was dirty.

Some village girls carrying buckets of dirty clothes laughed at him.

"Need some help Felix?" One of them offered, and Felix's nod was the answer. Looks like his popularity among the ladies came in handy this time.

Unlike the hunters, the girls were like iron attracted to a magnet. They treated Felix special because... He had what they thought was a handsome face. Another reason why male hunters hate Felix.

With the help of six village girls he managed to catch some cute rabbits. One of the girls gave him a bucket to carry the rabbits in.

"Thank you, everyone!" Felix ran off with a bucket of five rabbits.

And the girls waved, continuing on their way to the river. "Don't forget you have to treat us to dinner sometime."

Carrying a black bucket on his head, Felix moved swiftly through the crowds of hunters buying hunting equipment and supplies at the orzon market. His steps brought him to the Hunter's Tavern.

A simple wooden tavern, with a large sign bearing the legendary giant bison of Orzon, the hunter's hub, where hunters picked up quests and quest reward.

"I hope I'm not too late." He hurried to the wooden big double swing door.

Just as he was about to push the door, two men flew out of the door. This time Felix managed to dodge to save the bucket of rabbits. The two men fell onto the village path.
