It's female annual volleyball competition today. After much training, practice and drinking raw eggs for two weeks, Claudia and I made to the team. Kenzie,on the other hand gave up in the trials after the ball accidentally broke her nails. Claudia and I wore pink jersey and shorts and went to the competition. The school gym was packed with students, scoreboard ready and the referee was getting his cards and whistle ready. The other team were ready as well. They seem to be tough,big and mean. Their leader, Rosaline is worst than Brianna. Just this morning,she prays I break my arm at the game. If the two were related,then hell will break loose. Coach Miller gathered us in a circle and gave us some work of encouragement.
"Okay girls, this is the big game. Are you girls ready?"Coach Miller asked
"Yes,we are"We chorused
"This is our chance to show our opponents what we are made of"Coach Miller said
"Yes"We chorused
"Now,go out there and make me proud. Make Victoria High proud. Go... VICTORIANS!"Coach Miller cheered
"Yeah"We chorused
We stood in our position and waited for the referee to blow his whistle. I saw Xavier, sitting at the third row, surrounded by girls as usual. I stared at him and he did too. It felt like our eyes were the antennas to our hearts. Staring at him got me distracted and gave the other time a chance to score a point.
"Home-0, Visitors-1"The scorekeeper said
"Get your head in the game, McDonald"Coach Miller yelled
"C'mon Jocelyn,focus. Xavier maybe surrounded by a bevy of ladies but make your school proud. If you lose, Victoria High might never forgive. This could tarnish your image and perfect attendance. This will surely give Brianna the victory she has yawn for"Angel me said
"Don't listen to her. Go over there and take your boyfriend. Show those girls who is boss"Devil me said
"You guys ain't helping"I said
The whistle blew and I had my head in the game. With much concentration,I was able to a point for the team.
"Home-1, Visitors-1"The scorekeeper said
"Nice work guys. You're doing great"Coach Miller cheered
After much efforts from my teammates,we were to score 10 extra points. The other team became angry for our achievement. With only a minute before the final whistle blew, Claudia scored the last point which made us victorious.
"Home-14,Visitors-10. Victoria High wins"The scorekeeper announced
"Yes,we did it"My teammates and I cheered
"You guys maybe lucky this time but we'll be back next year to kick your butts"Rosalie threatened and left with her teammates
"Nice job guys, you really made me proud"Coach Miller congratulated
"How about we go for a victory scoop to celebrate?"Coach Miller offered
We all cheered and accepted Coach's generous offer.

Claudia and I were in the girl's locker room, changing back into our uniforms. We were almost done when Claudia talked about the game.
"It was really nice of Coach Miller take us out for ice cream to celebrate, isn't it?"Claudia said
"Yes it is"I said, wearing my socks and putting on my shoes
"I'm glad we won the game. If not, Rosalind won't let us have it"Claudia said
"Yeah, you're right"I replied, folding my jersey and putting it in my bag
"Are you okay?"Claudia asked
"I'm fine,a bit exhausted from the game"I replied, carrying my bag
"Yeah,me too. I hope Coach Miller's treat would help to recover our strength"Claudia said
"I hope it does"I said, leaving the locker room
Claudia and I were on our to the entrance of the school to join the other teamates outside when Xavier called me.
"Jocelyn,wait up"Xavier said
"I'll wait for you outside"Claudia excused herself
I felt nervous and shy when he came closer. I couldn't look him straight in the face.
"Wow! What an excellent performance! I saw you at the game and you were amazing"He said
"Really?"I said
"Yes. I actually came to congratulate you"He said
"Wow! Thanks!"I said
"Are you guys going somewhere?"He asked, seeing the other teamates outside
"Coach Miller is taking us for a victory scoop"I said
"Okay"Xavier said
"Wanna just us?"I asked
"No, thanks"He declined
"Okay"I said
"Maybe some other time"He said
The bus driver began honking, reminding me it was time to go.
"I will be on my way now"I said
"Okay. See you later"He said
"Bye"I waved
"Bye"He replied
I left the school and rushed to get on the bus before it leaves me.
"What took you so long?"Coach Miller said
"Sorry Coach. I was..."I said, thinking of a reasonable excuse to tell him
"Enough of your excuse, let's go and enjoy some ice cream"Coach Miller said
We arrived at Granny Smith's ice cream store. Coach Miller got me a strawberry ice cream, Claudia a chocolate ice cream and the rest of the team plain vanilla with a cherry on top. After filling our stomach with a lot of creamy goodness,my teammates developed some serious stomach ache. They went inside the school bus with their hands on their tummy and groaning in pain. Coach Miller decided to call off the victory scoop. Coach Miller took us home and returned to school with the bus driver. I opened the door with the key beneath the flower vase. I entered inside and landed on the sweet soft couch. Coco came in through the doggy door. She licked my palm which tickled me. She picked up a scent and sniffed my bag. I guess the chocolate chip cookie wasn't a surprise anymore. She couldn't open my bag and started barking. Her barking disturbed my flight to Dream World.
"What is it?"I asked
She pulled my bag towards me with her jaw and wanted me to open it. I noticed she knew about the cookie and wanted to eat it. I had no choice than to be submissive and hand over cookie to her. She ate the cookie peaceful, leaving me to buy another ticket to Dream World. Nearly boarding the plane,she came back, this time barking louder than before. I had no choice than to get off the plane and tear my ticket into a million pieces to answer her Royal Majesty.
"What is it now,Coco?"I asked
She brought her ball and gave it to me.
"You want to play fetch, don't you?"I asked
She waggled her tail and barked cheerful.
"Fine,let me freshen up,then we can play"I said with a cheerful smile
I went upstairs, freshened up and change into a comfortable outfit. I opened the door and play with her on the front porch. I threw the ball at a far distance, not too far though and she ran to get it and give it back to me.
"Go fetch it girl"I said, throwing the ball
She brought back the ball, expecting me to throw it again. I was about to throw the ball when I heard my phone ringing. It was Angela video calling me. I sat on the wooden floor, leaning against the pillar and answered the call.
"Hey Angy, it's nice to see you"I said with excitement
"How are you"She asked
"I'm good and you?"I said
"Same as usual. Ain't you supposed to be in school?"She asked
"Yeah but I went on a victory scoop with my teammates which ended with series of tummy trouble. Coach decided it was best if we skip classes for today and have a good rest"I explained
"Okay"She said
"Angy,it's time to go"Her mom said
"Are you going somewhere?"I asked
"Yeah,we taking Butterscotch for her check up. She's going to have puppies"She said
"Wow! That's nice"I said
"Yeah, she's been acting all lazy this pass few days. We want to know if she is okay"She said
"Okay"I replied
"C'mon Angy or the vet might leave"Her mom said
"Hi Ms Julia"I said
"Jocelyn, how are you?"Her mom said
"I'm good"I replied
"Girlfriend, we'll talk later"Angela said
"Okay. Bye"I said and hung up
"Coco!"I called
She ran up to me with her paws covered dirt and a dug up chew toy in her jaw.
"C'mon, let's go in"I said
She ran into the house through her doggy door. I was about to open the door when my phone beeped. It was a text from Xavier saying,
"Are you back home?"
I smiled and kept my phone in my pocket.
