The things leon needed to do for beacon however were the most numerous as he needed to create the venue with security and comfort in mind , check and triple check each of the defenses , fine tune the tournament portion to the introduction of familiars , thin the surrounding grim population drastically and deal with ironwoods bullshit. each of these things in addition to the others left leon with very little time for any relaxing task such as the prom. while he couldn't explain all this to yang and the others since they were merely students he could still point out how busy he was.
"It still seems rather unfair that you have to deal with whatever it is you are busy with all the time." yang complained. "I'm a teacher amongst other things , it came with the job." leon said with a shrug. "But why can't you help us with the prom?" blake finally stuck her nose into the conversation. leon sighed " the prom is an event held by students for students , of which i am not. to put it bluntly i'm simply being petty at getting left out." he said with a chuckle.
Everyone was left stunned at this answer but couldn't find a way to argue with it without sounding like a child. "i never even thought about such a possibility." weiss said apologetically and the rest nodded. "be weird if you did , it has nothing to do with any of you as students after all." leon said with a shrug. "on a totally different topic how's jaune's training been going?" he asked curiously. "he still has trouble with taking the initiative to attack on his own." nora threw the boy under the bus with no hesitation. "but what if i hurt someone!?" jaune defended his action angrily.
Leon rubbed his eyes in irritation at the boys answer "we have been over this already jaune. hurting others is literally the point of combat whether it's grim or people this fact is the same. besides that every single person in this room is leagues more skilled than you , hurting them would be a feat in an of itself if they were serious." he said in exasperation. this was the single biggest problem jaune had in his training for the past two months. the boy was very hesitant to strike his friends even while they are beating him left and right.
Besides this however the boy had grown rapidly into a decently skilled combatant and had even developed a rudimentary style for himself. the biggest problem he had compared to the majority of his classmates was the experience using his combat style in practical situations. compared to the years that most have had to hone their styles jaune only just created his this year and it showed. the only reason he didn't lose immediately in most fights was because of his stupidly large reservoir of aura. attacks that would drain the average students shields could be tanked with little effort thanks to this fact making him a durable target at the most.
Jaune just looked away in embarrassment at how easily leon shot down his defense and directly attacked him with facts. "it would seem that the gentle approach won't work in your case , unfortunately this leaves you with the hard way." leon said seriously and jaune looked nervous. "whats the hard way?" pyrrha asked worriedly. leon grinned maliciously "i am going to trap him in an illusion that can only be broken when he attacks one of you with the intent to harm you." he said sinisterly.
"That seems rather extreme." blake said with a worried expression. leon laughed "as i said since the gentle method doesn't work the only one left is the extreme one. he will either get over his hang ups or will be trapped in an endless illusion of him getting beaten to death by versions of each of you." he said and they all shivered at the idea. leon made eye contact with jaune and his eyes flashed briefly. "training begins now!" he said dramatically and jaune went limp on the couch much to the others horror.
