Chapter 36 - Hide and seek

Leon flew to nearest ursa he could find and proceeded to beat it to death with his bare hands. this was not a fast process by any means but was perfect in that it was great stress relief. leon felt like shit forcing yang to choose like that but he could only grit his teeth and push it forward because he knew that he would one day rise far beyond her. if that day came and she was still hung up on him she would miss out on whoever was actually meant to be with her.

Leon wasn't delusional enough to believe that his unnatural presence in the world didn't change the trajectory of the worlds fate. he knew however that he could never settle down since he was far too "get up and go" as it were. this put him in pretty much the same situation as qrow who always seemed to be on the move even when he was relaxing during his visits home. some part of qrow was always moving like he had to much energy all the time and that part only calmed when he was travelling. leon had noticed it over the years mostly since he himself seemed to suffer the same problem.

People like leon and qrow didn't make good partners since they were too driven to truly sit still and settle down. yang wasn't like that she was bubbly and fierce but she had no problems staying still for long periods of time. she didn't like to do so but leon chalked that up to her youth but after two whole lifetimes worth of maturing leon was very aware of his personality. this saved the women in his future the heartbreak of him leaving all the time and possibly never returning.

The poor ursa wished to die as leon smashed it with his fist over and over again splashing black sludge all over the place. his body was being stained with the blood faster than it could dissipate and he hadn't even noticed when he killed the ursa until his fist struck the ground cracking it. he felt better after taking out his frustration on the ursa and headed home for the day. the next three days passed with leon keeping an eye on the egg he had until saturday came at which point he made his way to his usual teaching spot.

Funnily enough he wasn't actually the first person there this time as a few students were so excited for his class that they showed up very early. leon spent an hour chatting with these students as they waited for the rest of the class to arrive. when all of the teams had arrived leon spoke up "todays lesson is a very important one for all of you planning to be wilderness hunters and even has a bit of use for those of you aiming for domestic licenses. todays lesson will actually last for the next four weeks." he explained before pausing as he saw a few hands raised.

"If you are wanting to know what i was doing for the last month i had hit a bottleneck in my training and needed some time to break through." he said and all but a single hand lowered. "yes miss nikos?" leon asked pyrrha who still had her hand up. "how strong are you exactly?" she asked genuinely curious. "at the moment i would qualify amongst the upper two percent of the worlds strongest hunters." he answered honestly and several students gasped in surprise. "and where do we fit in that power scale?" she asked seriously.

"Some of you are just below the average of most active hunters while others are close to the elite hunters. but do keep in mind this is only your first years in beacon while most hunters are graduates from one of the academies." he said and a few heads dropped in depression before they heard the end of his answer. "now to get back to the lesson , throughout beacon there are clues that lead to a special item stash , the other professors and even the headmaster has hints towards these clues that you must convince them to give you. the point of this lesson is to hone your information gathering skills." he explained with a wide grin. "the first hint i will give you for free , eight wooden guardians watching over the colorful few. good luck." he said before taking off into the air dramatically.
