Persephone awoke to the soft morning light streaming through her curtains, casting a golden hue across her room. She stretched lazily, her body still adjusting to the familiar surroundings of the dorm flat. Right, she thought. I came back to school last night. Her mind briefly wandered to the memory of her parents standing at the bottom of the stairs, waving her off as she climbed into the car.

It's quiet as always, she heaved a soft sigh.

Persephone slipped into her slippers and made her way downstairs. After spending the entire summer at her family's manor, where meals were always prepared by their chef, the prospect of making her own breakfast again felt oddly refreshing.
