As the night deepened, the group finally bid farewell to Giovanni, leaving Prof. Beak in his care. Giovanni, ever the showman, promised to look after the duck with the utmost dedication, going as far as to say that Prof. Beak would live like a king under his watch. Ginny, though relieved, felt a slight pang of anxiety. She knew her uncle's idea of spoiling the duck might involve a bit too much indulgence, but it was still a better option than getting caught smuggling an illegal settler back to the huts.
