Cierra struggled to concentrate. Just a few moments ago she had been on the verge of being burnt alive and now here she was, sitting in a chair that provided inadequate back support, pencil in hand, staring at equations that typically made her want to pull her own hair out. Still, at least she was alive. The equations were almost comforting, and her feet magically no longer ached, as if they had never been pressed up against the wall at all.
She nibbled on the end of her pencil. Who was Jericho? What was all that talk about dragons? Half of her wanted to believe it wasn't real, but the way the man's eyes had stared at her… There was no way he was a mere hallucination.
"Ten minutes!" Mr. Dresher snapped Cierra back to reality. Dragons aside, she needed to pass this exam before anything else.
