Liam Kings
" Nothing Lucy, send her in." He says as he adjusts himself in his chair.
A few seconds pass and a slight knock is heard before the door knob turns, indicating that someone was entering.
Emilia Peyton comes into view and it takes Liam sometime to realize that she was the one. The last time they met she wore a casual clothing which made her look like a normal person.
'An extremely beautiful normal person' he thought.
If he thought she looked like a goddess the last time he saw her, then there wasn't yet a word to describe her right now.
She was beautiful.
" I see you are already back from Switzerland Mr Kings." She says as she walks into the office. Her hips swaying without effort.
' God damn this woman. '
" I could say the same to you Emilia. Please, call me Liam. ' Mr Kings 'makes it look like you're referring to my father." He says standing.
She gives a small smile that doesn't go unnoticed by Liam as she looks around his office.
" It is your name you know, whether it pleases you or not, people are going to call you by that name. " She says.
" I know trust me, it's not a bad name but coming from you sounds so formal. And I do not want us to be so formal with each other as we will soon be married." Liam says with a smug look.
Emilia hums as she stands still looking around his office. He knew she liked it. Every one did. It had a perfect view of the city and was well decorated with various art works and paintings.
As strange as it may sound, he was glad to know she liked it.
" Please forgive my manners. You may sit." He says. He had been so busy with admiring her that he had forgotten to offer the lady a chair.
How forgetful of him.
" Sure, thank you." She replies as she settles in the chair that was placed at the other side of the table directly opposite Liam.
" If I may ask, Emilia. I can call you Emilia right? " He asks.
" You have been addressing me by my first name since you met me, only calling me by my last a few times, why ask for permission now." She retorts with a faint smirk on her face.
She was right.
" I was just trying to be a gentle man. So tell me, what brings you here. I am sure you didn't come here to chat with me. It is a known fact that you don't exactly like me, miss Peyton. " Liam says as he leans into his chair.
He was enjoying the fact that they were having a normal conversation, although he knew that this was the calm before the storm.
" Back to the formalities are we now, Mr Kings." Emilia says with the same smile that made Liam imagine wild thoughts.
Her lips moved in such a provoking manner when she spoke. He could hardly focus on what she was saying as they kept distracting him.
' oh how they would feel .' He thought.
" I am allowed to switch between both names am I not?" He says bringing himself back from the delightful temptation.
" Then I suppose I am also allowed to do the same." She says with her head up high.
Oh she is a feisty one alright.
Liam just replies with a smirk and Emilia sees it as her cue to continue.
" Well you're right. I didn't come here to chat with you. I came to tell you that—that." She starts but stutters midway. A few seconds pass and Liam just sits there looking at her, waiting for a continuation.
She clears her throat and looks at him firmly.
" I do not plan on marrying you." She says calmly.
Minutes pass by and no one says anything.
They stare at each other, both getting lost in the process. Emilia breaks the stare and lowers her head for a bit before bringing it back up.
" Well ---- say something." She says looking back at him.
Liam didn't want to spoil the mood but that had already been done by her. He was already enjoying her company and for some reason the cold and quiet side of him never showed up when she was around. That made him want her even more.
" You have to." He says coldly.
Emilia must have noticed the change in his demeanor because her eyes flickered.
It was almost as if the conversation they had before this never happened.
Liam knew that it wasn't fair of him to act this way but he also knew that with a woman like Emilia, only a man who was capable of dominating her could handle her.
He would have to be that if that would get her to agree to the marriage.
" Why." She says with a very low and calm voice that he almost didn't hear her. But of course, be did. He was unsure if the sound came out from her because of how faint it sounded.
She didn't sound like Emilia at that moment, more like a girl who was sad and hurting.
Liam felt his heart quiver and he almost went to her side to hug her and tell her that she didn't have to marry him if she wasn't okay with it. But then again, that would be loosing to her when the fight had not even started.
That was what she wanted to achieve by coming her. She wanted him to give up so that she wouldn't have to be the one calling the proposed wedding off.
This was her plan all along.
He was almost fooled into pitying her. She was Emilia Peyton after all.
" It has to be done Emilia. You have to understand and agree to this. Besides we wouldn't be married forever, just for two years you see. Then you can go back to your lover." He says with gritted teeth.
The thought of her being with another man maddened him.
' It was clear she had someone if not she wouldn't be so against this marriage. ' He thought.
Her eyes twitch, showing a hint of hurt. But she is quick to regain her composure.
" Yes Liam. I do have a lover and I do not intend to leave him and marry you. Wouldn't that be ruthless of me? But then again, you won't understand. " She says with spite.
Liam clenches his hands underneath the table. Anger takes over him as he imagines her with another.
He had only met her yesterday and he was already becoming possessive with her when she wasn't even his.
This side of him was new to even him.
He had never paid attention to any other woman apart from his mother and sister. From his teenage years he came to the understanding that he had a duty to his family, so he made sure nothing distracted him.
But here he was, now a grown man, longing for a woman he just met.
" I suppose this—lover if yours will have to wait a few years then." He says.
Her brows furrow as she stands up. Clearly not happy with his response.
He waits for her to yell, walk out the door or even worse, slap him but what she does next shocks him.
She stands for a few seconds before speaking.
" Please." She says like a whisper.
He didn't catch that.
" What was that?" He says not hearing her the first time.
" Please. Don't do this Liam." She says in a pleading tone.
Was he hearing her correctly?
Emilia was--- begging him.
Did she hate the idea of getting married to him that bad.
He suddenly felt a wave of guilt. He knew from the beginning that it was wrong but seeing her like this makes him feel even worse.
Liam leaves his seat and goes to her, turning her around to face him. Her back facing the table.
" Why do you hate me so much Emilia. You don't even know me." He says looking at her.
" No, you're wrong Liam. It is not you that I hate. It is the idea of getting married to someone I am not in love with that I detest." She says and Liam sighs in realization.
She was right. They didn't even know each other not to even talk about love.
" I have plans Liam, plans for my life and at this moment marriage is not one of them. I could look for someone else for you. Someone with a good reputation. That was why you chose me over my cousin wasn't it. A good reputation." She says bitterly with a mocking laugh.
Liam wasn't buying that idea. It was true that he chose her over Julia because of her reputation but right now he felt that there might be other things to it.
Her feistiness perhaps?
He steps even closer to her as Emilia tries to back away but fails, the table stopping her. Be couches down to her level to look at her in the eye.
It is in this moment she realizes how close to each other they were. If she moved her head a little bit forward then their lips would be touching.
If it were to be any other girl, they would have turned to jelly by now but not her. She wasn't going to let him intimidate her.
" You are right once again bellisima." He says his Italian accent coming out strong.
" You're a saint to the public, an angel sent from heaven and that my dear, is exactly why I need you to be my wife. " He says leaning more into her.
He was provoking her and oh was he loving it.
He uses the opportunity to snake an arm around her waist to bring her closer.
He notices how she immediately reacts to his touch, almost like she had never been touched my a man.
There was no space between them as their bodies were touching. She smelled like heaven. Her scent was all he could focus on and her breathing becomes more pronounced, her eyes closed.
She was affected by him. Good.
He leans in to the corner of her left ear as he whispers.
His hands steady on her tiny waist.
" You will get married to me Emilia."
" You will be mine."
