Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

Emilia Peyton

Her neck snaps towards him so fast she was sure it would cause an ache later.

" Two weeks? Are you being serious right now?" She says trying to maintain her calm.

" I am. It would be better that way, for the both of us." He says.

" And you're telling me this now." She says.

" You don't have to worry about anything. All the arrangements for the wedding will be handled by my sister, Hailey. You'll be meeting her today. All you have to do is attend the wedding okay?" He adds.

She was going to be a guest at her own wedding. The idea wasn't so bad. After all, this wasn't a normal wedding.

Nodding in response, she turns her head away from him and gets lost in her thoughts.

The car pulls up at Bistro Le Cep, a popular French restaurant that only the richest in the country could afford. Liam leaves the car first and goes over to Emilia's side to open the door. A valet approaches them and Liam hands the keys over to the young man as he leads the way to the restaurant.

" Now, I believe you remember everything I told you." He says as he uses the opportunity to wrap his hands around my waist.

The action causes her to flinch and Liam smirks knowingly. Emilia shakes her head in an attempt to bring her focus back to the question he asked.

" Of course." She says and Liam nods.

The décor of the interior was top notch, even better than the exterior. It had a typical french setting, with huge chandeliers hanging from the ceilings and beautiful paintings across the walls.

They take the stairs that lead to an enclosed area of the restaurant. A large grey door opens and a room comes into view, with three people sitting around a well decorated table.

A young lady that had to be around Emilia's age, Liam's father, Richard and a woman that looked like she was in her early fifties. They were without a doubt, members of his family.

Waiter's and Waitresses as well as chefs are seen scattered across the room but in an organized manner.

Emilia was used to all of this. She also came from a wealthy family so services like this were not new to her.

She plants a smile on her face as they approach the table.

" Liam, darling. Sorry we're a bit early. We couldn't wait to meet the woman that made you change your mind about marriage." The older woman whom Emilia now understood to be his mother says with a lovely smile.

Emilia didn't understand what she meant by ' change your mind about marriage.'

Was Liam against marriage? She decided to not put too much thought to it now but Liam would have some explaining to do later.

" It's alright mum." Liam says as he plants a kiss on her cheek before moving over to the younger lady.

" Hey kiddo. Didn't think you'd make it." He says as he gives her a tight hug.

" I wouldn't miss meeting your fiancée for anything Liam. And I've told you, I'm not a kid." The lady says with a playfully pout.

Emilia watched as they all conversed lovingly. Memories of her parents started flooding her mind and she could feel herself begin to tear up. She missed her family.

She stood there smiling at the scene in front of her. They looked like a very happy family. Something she didn't have.

Liam looks back and realizes that he had almost forgotten her.

" Oh, Mum, Dad, Hailey. This is Emilia, my fiancée." Liam says as be comes back to her side.

She felt oddly comfortable around them.

" Emilia, this is my mother Lucia, my father Richard and my baby sister Hailey." He says with a proud smile on his face.

She had already met Liam's father but with what he explained to her on their way here, she acted like this was their first time meeting and his father acted like-wise.

" Hello." She says with a bright smile. There was something about this family that gave her warmth.

" Oh my Goodness, she's beautiful Liam." His mother squeals making Emilia turn red.

" Hello dear, it's so nice to finally meet you. You look absolutely beautiful love. You're a lucky guy Liam." His mother continues as she pulls Emilia in for a crushing hug, giving Liam a wink.

" Hello sister in-law to be. I can't believe Liam's getting married to the famous Emilia Peyton." His sister, Hailey says grinning from ear to ear.

" I also never thought I'd marry someone like Liam." Emilia responds with the same smile, although her words carried a different meaning.

Of course Hailey knew who she was. Everyone in the country did. She was as popular as the celebrities, maybe even more.

" Emilia, nice to meet you dear. Please, have a seat everyone." Liam's father says as they all nod and sit down.

Liam pulls out a chair for Emilia before going over to his own seat that was opposite hers. A gesture that didn't go unnoticed by the others.

" What would you like to have dear. I didn't know what you would like, so I arranged for everything, all you have to do is make a choice." His mother says looking at her with so much love.

" You didn't have to Ma'am. Anything is fine by me." Emilia says honestly.

She wasn't a picky eater unlike most rich people nor did she have any allergies. Growing up in her uncle's house, she didn't have much of a choice. She ate whatever she was given.

"Oh no. Please darling, call me Lucia." His mother says.

" Okay then, I guess I'll be making the choice for dinner." She continues as she rings on the table bell and a man in a chef's uniform approaches her.

" Evening to you all. I am Andre Louis, the head chef and owner of Bistro Le Cep. I will be at your service this evening, to ensure your evening goes smoothly." The man says with a thick french accent.

Of course they were going to be taken care of by the owner. The richest people in the country were in his building. What owner wouldn't prioritize them for the evening.

" Now, what are we starting with." He continues with a friendly smile.

" Okay, so for starters we'll be having the Boeuf Bourguignon, some lyonnaise salad and of course Bouillabaisse, just incase our lovely fiancée loves sea food." Lucia says referring to Emilia with her famous smile plastered on her face.

She was right. Emilia had a weak spot for sea foods. They were her favorite.

" For dessert, Profiteroles and Apple tarts will do. A bottle of champagne also. We have every reason to make a toast tonight. That would be all Andre, thank you." She finishes off with a smile.

Andre nods politely and heads for the kitchen.

" So tell me Emilia, how did you meet my son. I would ask Liam but the boy won't spill." Lucia says turning towards Liam with a fake pout.

Everyone at the table turns to look at her. She didn't feel pressured, Liam had already given her a heads up, so she was prepared for this. Plus according to Liam, his mother was the only person in his family that didn't know about the real nature of their relationship.

All she had to do was say exactly what Liam told her to and everything would be alright.

" Uh, we met at a business meeting in Milan two years ago." Emilia answers with a confident smile.

Lucia's brows crease together and she shakes her head.

" How is that possible dear. Liam did not go to Milan two years ago." Lucia says and the entire room falls silent.

Uh Oh!!
