'My father exiled me too,' Kieran gave me a sad smile.
I looked up at him in question. But he simply shook his head and said, 'It's not because of you.'
'But..' I tilted my head in thought.
Then, I turned away from him and focused on the task at hand. 'Explain to me everything that's happened since I've been gone.'
'The demon master has put a bounty on your head since the first day you disappeared, ' He continued, 'It's a wonder no one has been able to find you yet.'
I threw him a side glance, saying, 'No one except you.'
'There's been an uprising against the demon master ever since the word about the lost souls got out.'
'And the angels?' I questioned while taking a seat on the sofa.
He was sitting on the window ledge with his arms crossed across his chest, 'It's weird. You see one angel flying over the fire chambers almost every other day.'
I raised my brows, 'The demons don't kill them?'
Kieran chuckled, 'I'm sure they would love to but the demon master would have their heads.'
The shadows were on our tail. My heartbeat thundered in my ears as I jumped across puddles. It was raining hard, and I was almost worried that I was going to slip and crack my skull open.
We were nearing the bridge, and I pushed myself to go faster. I could use a burst of fire to finish them off but Kieran kept telling me not to for some reason.
He wouldn't tell me why, and I was getting pissed by the second.
Our feet hit the bridge and we continued onwards without pausing for a second. Unfortunately, two more shadows appeared in front of us.
I looked at Kieran and hissed, 'Now?!'
But he didn't respond and continued running. The shadows were getting closer now, and I kept glancing at Kieran in anticipation.
Finally, when we were about a few inches away from the shadows, Kieran ordered, 'Now!'
The flames were majestic as they shot out of my hands. It closed in on the shadows and their screams filled the air.
Ash and smoke fluttered up in the air as we ducked past the burning shadows. The heat from my flames hit a second too late, as the cool air rushed past my face.
I threw a glance behind me to find the other shadows getting confused by the smoke and darkness that clouded the air.
'I think we lost them,' I glanced at Kieran, but he didn't seem too happy.
We continued in silence for a while, venturing as far from the darkness as possible. Kieran finally stopped when we came to a small, uneven piece of land.
I looked around but couldn't decipher where we were.
'Náli,' My head snapped towards Kieran as he began, '-you need to get back your memories.'
I raised an eyebrow, confused about where that came from, 'Why?'
Kieran paced in front of me, rubbing his hands as he glanced around him. There was a sort of nervous energy around him, and I didn't like it.
He stopped and pointed at me, 'You stole something important from Azrael, your father. We need to find it.'
'What is it?' I questioned, frowning.
'I don't know. No one does, except you, ' He looked at me, saying, '-and Azrael.'
I kept glancing up as my hands went through different piles of papers and files. Azrael could come in any second, and I didn't want to face him right now.
Kieran was standing outside on guard but my father would have him out of the way in a second if he found him in front of his chambers.
My eyes strayed to the drawer that didn't open immediately. I pulled twice but it only rattled.
I used my laser vision to see inside the drawer. It had one file alongside some strange objects.
I made a note mentally to check this drawer the next time I sneak in.
With that, I rushed out of the room. Everything was in order because I knew my father would know immediately if anything was out of order.
Kieran took one glance at me and we were walking down the hall.
