Immediately she started looking into Angela's murder and found that she was murdered by her brothers. One brother choked her and the other stabbed her just because they found Michael in her room the previous night. They disapproved of Michael and in a fit of anger, they killed their sister.
After interrogation she found the murder weapons hidden in their water geyser. Although all the DNA evidence and fingerprints from the weapons were lost, both the brothers confessed, and Michael was free of all charges.
Even David set Michael free by refusing to press charges against him. Michael was now a free man and he left New York for good. He started a new life somewhere else, away from the tragedy he had to face. This case was a positive thing for Journee. Her heroic act in the hospital and her use of her brain to solve the crime set her on a fast track to promotion. All she had to do was pass the sergeant's exam.
