Chapter 59 - Secret revealed in the infirmary

— Until the serum runs out and the fever drops, he should be here for observation. I'll have them call his mother, so please let the teacher know that the student will be absent.

― But do you know what he has? ― Questioned a worried Milles, interceding the way of the school nurse.

The Beta woman had looked over her shoulders at Theodore, who had denied it with his head. Milles swallowed hard when he noticed that exchange of glances, clenching his fingers in fists to control the sudden anger to be left behind in something.

― No need to worry, I'll talk properly with the student's mother. So excuse me.

The nurse had left the students alone in the infirmary in a tense and silent atmosphere. Theodore had looked at his friend letting out a tired sigh, receiving a caress on his shoulder from Gabriel.

― He'll be fine, there's nothing to worry about.

Theodore turned his head smiling at the usher.

― He always looks good.

― What does he have? ― Finally questioned Milles, standing in front of the bed where Nicolas fell asleep. ― Yesterday the captain was fine.

— Yesterday? Of course he was not well. ― Laughed Theodore shooting the blonde alpha with coldness. Milles paid attention to the mockery of the omega, crossing his arms to him ― Why are you still here?

― Is this how you thank after receiving help?

― Thank you so much for carrying Nico here, but you can go back to your class and I'll stay here.

Milles rolled his eyes letting out a nasal laugh. He didn't believe that omega dared to be so direct with him after receiving your help. Staring at his team-mate, he waited for Gabriel to say something, but he just left his hands in his pocket facing the captain bedridden.

― Theodore, you said you put stickers on the captain, that would be...

― Hey!

Milles peeked at the brown eyes with Theodore's sudden reaction in preventing the alpha from finishing his speech. Stickers? What would that be? He couldn't think of anything that could make Nicolas so ill and feverish.

― Spit! ― Ordered the alpha still crossed arms to the omega. ― Do not move away from here until I know.

― If you know what you want to do?

― I will do nothing, just want to understand what is happening to him.

Theodore sighed shaking his head. He was so serious that his reaction on the subject was strange. It was usually an omega considered docile, easy to talk about for what Gabriel said. Milles found it a beautiful lie, because the omega clearly felt some hatred of itself.

Well, he shouldn't act like a hypocrite about not knowing why.

Milles then went to the other side of the bed facing the window where he could hold Theodore's gaze and show how serious he was at that time. He wouldn't leave until he found out the truth.

― I'll say the same thing I told Gabriel. The secret is not mine to tell. If the captain didn't tell you, it's because he doesn't trust you.

― He don't trust?

― Shall I remind you of the wonders you have already said to me?

― Calm down, Theodore. ― Appease Gabriel, holding the hand of the blonde. ― Do not argue around a sick person. Let the captain rest.

Milles knew that Gabriel was right, but his anger needed to be heard. Or rather, he wanted to hear every detail that could shed light on why that annoying captain was sick like that.

He preferred Nicolas healthy, cursing, hitting the balls in his direction, swearing and being mocked with him. That's the way it's supposed to be, isn't it?

However, the captain was lying there with his eyes closed. His breath was low and his mouth was pale. So vulnerable and helpless that it was annoying. No way should Nicolas show up to others like that.

No one else should see your vulnerability.

The storm of his thoughts caused the smell of the alpha to be exhaled in large quantities inside the ward. Gabriel immediately covered Theodore's nose and mouth, letting out a heavy sigh facing his friend.

― Hey, control your smell. There's an omega here.

Milles did not listen to Gabriel's complaint. It would not be easy to appease such discontent and fury. Not when, at the same time, he questioned why he felt that way.

Lost in his own thoughts, the highest alpha leapt when he felt a cold hand hold his wrist firmly. The three hybrids curled up around the bed, watching the captain open his dark eyes towards the blonde.

― What the fuck is this?

The alpha had raised a sly smile at hearing that language. That's what he wanted to hear. His routine bad mood. Nothing could be different.

― Nico! ― Theodore called muffled, still having Gabriel's hand covering his face. ― How are you feeling? Need something?

Nicolas turned his eyes around the room paying attention to everyone present around him. Then he had released a nasal laugh raising his arm, having seen the access of the serum pierced his skin.

― Oh this is turning into a circus of horrors. I'm fine, I just need to sleep. Can you stop that smell?

― I'm sorry, but I can't control my smell that easily.

Nicolas rolled his eyes impatiently.

― Milles, for Theodore's sake... he's an omega.

― I'm angry just because of this omega, so my smell doesn't stop until I'm calm.

Theodore clenched his fingers controlling his anger. It would be his turn to exhale an aroma, but Gabriel had hugged him from behind letting his smell involve only the omega to keep him calm. The dark-haired alpha had cast a sharp glance at his friend, a clear message to control himself there.

Milles really had no way of controlling his instincts. The more his emotions come out, the more synchronized his instincts were. And that discussion with Theodore did not calm down at all, bringing the opposite effect. Its smell intensified.

― Milles, if you please.

― You' re lucky to respect you for being with my friend. ― Grumbled Milles, about to try to contain his smell.

― You mean if I wasn't with Gabriel, you wouldn't give a damn about me? Well, that's not news, you've been doing that for a long time.

— I have a headache and no patience to listen to the discussion of you two. ― Growled Nicolas staring at the ceiling motionless. ― Big guy, cut the shit. Can you respect an omega?

― Even you?

― I'm talking about me, you moron.

Milles froze in place, widening his eyes to that captain who aimed the darkened pearls at him as he sat on the bed. Even Gabriel seemed surprised, squeezing Theodore in his arms.

― What did you say?

― I said I'm an omega.

― Are you messing with me? You can't only... need to get to that level just to protect your friend?

― That's not your problem. I'm too tired to argue.

The blond alpha then turned to the blond omega, longing for him to say something. Theodore, on the other hand, just stood up from the chair he was sitting in and held Gabriel's hand.

― We're going back to the classroom. I'll let the teacher know you're leaving in a moment.

Nicolas said nothing to his friend, just blinked slowly watching him leave the ward along with the new student. Left alone in the infirmary, Milles felt anxious.

Haven't he felt anything strange with Nicolas since the moment they kissed on the court? He had been blinded by the possible secret that that bastard would be hiding from him, who would answer the question of why Nicolas messed with him so much?

Now the answer seemed to have fallen into his parachute lap.
