What an intense Sunday!
When he woke up that day, Gabriel hoped to be nervous about the official matches he would play for the first time. However, the universe seems to have conspired for the game to be the least of their problems.
He admitted that he was enjoying Theodore, especially after the secret meeting after the first match.
He hated having Nicolas always play the blonde omega, creating a defense to repudiate his approach. It was he who needed to feel that feeling once again.
The way he approached the blonde was completely hopeless, yet effective. At last he had Theodore's answer as to what he thought of him, if he desired it. His heart had almost leapt out of his chest so great was his happiness.
And the smell of Theodore? By heaven, how addictive!
After leaving the locker room, Gabriel was sure of only one thing. He should see Theodore. He wanted to know what would be of those two after that troubled Sunday. Would they be together? What did they expect from each other? It would be the first time the Alpha had thought seriously of anyone, and it made him overly anxious.
Running through the corridors reaching the exit, his eyes sought the blonde hair finding alone near some trees. A smile had sprung up on the lips of Gabriel, who had run towards Theodore, longing to see him.
When his presence was felt, the omega turned its head towards him with surprise.
― Gabriel, why were you running?
― Are you leaving already?
Theodore arched his brow by adjusting the bag over his shoulders.
― My mother will be a while yet, and I'm waiting for Nico... Why?
― Can we talk?
― Of course.
Gabriel held Theodore's hand and pulled him into the gym garden. The leafy trees and shrubs arranged to create a beautiful landscape for tourists would serve as an excellent hiding place for those two boys.
Theodore seemed afraid to be away from prying eyes, so Gabriel had a tender smile to calm him down. It would do him no harm, just wanted privacy for a matter that concerned only them.
No one else would have the right to listen.
— I wanted to understand what happened in the second game. ― Theodore frowned in confusion, taking Gabriel deep breaths to be precise ― When I looked at the bench gave me the impression that you were... You know, with Nicolas...
Immediately Theodore's cheeks turned red, his eyes bulging in shame.
― But of course not! Why the hell would I do that in the middle of everyone?
― I don't know, so I was surprised. He gave the impression.
― Nico was teasing you because I told you we stayed. I told you earlier.
Gabriel was silent, simply agreeing with his head. There was no way against arguing, in fact the two friends had been clear that it was just a provocation. Only his captain's shorts were all messed up, and he made sure to make it look like something had happened.
Just remembering Gabriel felt the anger grow.
― But something was happening there, wasn't it?
Theodore had made a grimace letting go of Gabriel's hand to leave them in his pants pocket. The sudden rupture of that touch had left the alpha feeling empty.
― Yeah, until it was rolling. Maybe Nico was teasing Milles too? Don't look at me like that!
― I'm trying to understand what you're saying, Theodore. I mean, you really had your hand... there?
― Almost there.
Gabriel's disbelief had become clear in his countenance. How could he have been almost there? Would he have lost any information that made him misinterpret? It could only!
― Theodore, did you touch Nicolas in the middle of a gym and in front of me? And you still say it was just a provocation?
― What kind of thinking are you having? I told you I didn't do it, I just put the damn adhesive under his shorts!
― Adhesive?
Gabriel looked into his eyes, realizing that Theodore had repented of saying that word. The omega pressed his lips and closed his eyes away from the alpha, giving him his back as if he needed to take a deep breath before facing it. Gabriel had turned to face the omega, holding his hands again.
― What was going on? I don't want to feel jealous again.
Theodore had lowered his eyes to his hands next to Gabriel's. The alpha did not hold him tightly, was cautious to make him comfortable. The last thing he wanted was for Theodore to escape from him because of a misunderstanding.
He seemed to ponder in silence, then sigh loudly.
— Look, this is something that concerns my best friend and I won't tell anyone without your permission. Whether or not you believe what I say depends on how much you trust me.
Was he pushing that issue then? Theodore was being loyal to his friend, and that was admirable. He trusted that omega, and this would be the perfect time to show it.
Shaking his head, Gabriel approached Theodore holding his hand so that his fingers could be intertwined. Raising his eyes to face him, the alpha could contemplate that omega trying to stay serious even if his ears turned red.
How lovely.
― All right, I get it.
― Is that what you needed to know?
Biting his lip, Gabriel denied with his head. How should he approach that subject? Even in his thoughts everything seemed disorganized.
Theodore had not turned away, and reacted to his touches. Even if he held his hand, he felt it get cold in a sign of nervousness, nor dared undo the touch. He kept his distance between them and looked at him boldly.
He had said that Milles was right about one thing. That Theodore was liking Gabriel. Although he confirmed it when his wishes were about to explode in need of Theodore's touch, it was still a statement.
Should he reaffirm then?
No... If he denied it out of shame, Gabriel would be disappointed. He would run away from him, and the alpha could not allow such a thing.
— To be very honest, this is the first time I feel something like this. ― Admitted the alpha when he took the courage to face those blue pearls that seemed to analyse his soul. ― Even more for another guy. It's very intense and hard to control, I'm really not able to resist both of us.
― What do you expect from me? Be honest Gabriel. Do you like me? Is that why you get angry when I'm with Nicolas?
Gabriel forced himself to organize his feelings. Yes, he preferred Theodore to himself over Nicolas. He did not like it when the omega was touched by someone else, and even the girl from earlier irritated him.
Because it simply seemed that Theodore lived happily in a world where Gabriel was not present.
His chest tightened just to admit it.
Would that be liking someone?
Milles said it was clear that this was the case.
Compared to any other kind of relationship he ever had, did Gabriel have to be honest that no one would leave him like that? Jealous, possessive, ardently desiring someone. Look at that very moment, he needed to hold Theodore's hands, if he didn't feel empty.
Hold on to your hands!
Something so simple it seemed to weigh tons.
Even at lunch he was worried that the omega had misunderstood that scenario with Sadie. And in fact he seemed upset. Why would he worry that Theodore would be upset if he didn't like him?
The answer was obvious. Gabriel just didn't have the courage to admit it.
— It's... I'm liking you Theodore. ― Theodore's fingers squeezed Gabriel's, also held his breath without blinking to the alpha holding his eyes. The alpha then took a step closer to the blonde. ― I want to be with you, more and more.
― If you stay with me, the school will treat you differently. Like they do me.
― I don't care.
― Your friends may walk away because they consider you disgusting.
― I will know who the true friends are those who stand by me.
Theodore had finally taken a deep breath, looking away as he turned his head. Gabriel looked at him intently feeling increasingly nervous. He observed the details of those earrings and the blond hair that formed curls near his ear.
Once again he was paying attention to Theodore in full, and all he could think was that the omega was very beautiful that way. Cool and attractive. Theodore could easily impersonate Alpha and attract everyone's attention. Especially with those blue eyes.
He wanted to kiss his lobe. He could lower his lips down his demarcated jaw, reaching the neck where he wanted to bite. There where he could smell him.
― All right. So... it won't be more of your curiosity, will it?
― No. I really want to be with you. And you?
Theodore had opened his wide smile showing his pointed fangs. Oh, how he loved that smile. He would be lost in it for hours.
― I want.
Gabriel himself had not hidden his happiness and relief in having an answer. If Theodore continued to keep the distance between them, it would be suffocating. He would have to find another way to deal with the situation. However now it would no longer be necessary.
They would be.
And to celebrate that much-desired beginning, Gabriel had released a hand from Theodore to touch his warm cheeks and kiss him tenderly. Unlike before where it was loaded with desire and euphoric thoughts, the alpha restrained itself.
Because kissing that omega was enough.
Feeling his taste and feeling his touch was enough.
When they walked away, the two boys smiled ashamed without knowing much what to do next. Having the moment between them overshadowed by the call of Theodore's mother warning that they had arrived, the couple had to leave the small hiding place to go to the parking lot.
Without holding hands with so many people, Gabriel had to be content to be on the side of the blonde omega. Looking restless looking everywhere, Theodore grumbled by adjusting the bag on his shoulder.
― What is it? Are you looking for your mother?
― No, Nico's taking too long.
― Is he leaving with you?
― He will sleep at my home. ― He will respond naturally, immediately looking at the alpha pointing the finger ― Do not think nonsense!
Lifting his hands in surrender, Gabriel smiles rogue.
― I didn't dare. You asked me to trust you, and that's what I intend to do.
Once again that broad smile was directed at him, forcing his heart to turn to survive. Was Theodore aware that smile was a lethal weapon? He should warn for your sake, right?
The two would converse a little more when a little man hiding in the hood of his sweatshirt had stormed past them.
― Let's go, Theo.
Pulling the omega by the wrist and heading towards the car parked behind the school bus, Gabriel watched the two friends rush in.
What would have happened to that little man in the sea, to leave so euphoric? Gabriel was surprised.
― Look how he looks like a rat escaping the trap.
Turning his head over his shoulder, he noticed Milles with a wide smile approaching him. Would he have left the gym now? Having been the first to bathe?
— Do you know anything? ― Asked Gabriel, receiving the look full of hidden meanings. Crossing his arms the alpha turned in front of his friend ― What did you do this time?
— I said the captain wouldn't escape me. ― Milles had given a few taps on his friend's shoulder and had gone in the opposite direction of the bus ― I'm leaving with my old man. I'll see you tomorrow at school.
Even after Gabriel got on the bus to go back to school and go home, the alpha imagined that week would be different.
