On Sunday morning the players were in front of the school trying to contain the excitement of starting the championship. Even if the sky was cloudy blocking the sun, nothing would stop the excitement of that group of young people. Especially an alpha who would participate in his first official competition.
Gabriel firmly held the strap of his sports bag as his eyes went from side to side looking for someone. Even if it transpired tranquillity, it did not exist at all inside.
Since Friday, Gabriel's days have been a living hell. The slowness for time passed along with the memories of sweet lips on his. He wanted to be able to talk to the omega, but he had not entered the MSN that Saturday.
Would he run from him again?
Would your friendship be rocked by what happened?
If that happened, what would Gabriel do?
― Smoke is coming out of your head.
Turning his head over his shoulder, Gabriel reached out to greet Milles.
― First game I play, give a discount.
― I doubt that the reason for the tension is the game.
Hiding his hands in the pocket of his sweatshirt, Gabriel had let out a puffed laugh for his friend.
― And what would be your guess?
Passing his arm around the alpha's shoulder, Milles hugged his friend and peered at the group of players talking in front of the bus.
― The blonde in the bathroom isn't here. And he probably won't come.
― Stop calling Theodore that way. ― Growled Gabriel grimacing ― Besides, why wouldn't he come? He's the team's assistant.
― You know very well why. But you didn't tell me how it was Friday afternoon...
Malice overflowed in the countenance of Milles. Surely he would know, and very well, how was that little meeting. He just wanted Gabriel to admit something.
Before he did, the blond alpha smelled something in the air turning back, seeing the sleepy captain arrive. Nicolas hid in his sweatshirt and cap, ignoring people with his headphones and following straight to the teacher before getting on the bus.
― Looks like someone got up with his left foot today.
— I have the impression that he was always in a bad mood. ― Realizing that his friend was staring intensely at Nicolas, Gabriel did not repress his smile when he crossed his arms ― What had been the question?
Showing the middle finger, Milles had pulled out a laugh from Gabriel. He would not have to question how it was when he himself had already tasted those sensations. Although there is a difference between situations. Gabriel and Theodore kissed of their own accord, while Milles was surprised by his arrogance.
― Get on the bus, boys.
The students formed a row and entered the bus sitting in pairs in the armchairs. Looking for the place farthest away from the backyard mess, Gabriel was about to choose the first rows when a hand over his shoulder pushed him to the last row.
Being forced to sit at the window, Gabriel stared at Milles who smiled amusingly. He took out his purse and that of his friend, throwing them in the row in front of him preventing other players from sitting there.
― Guaranteed privacy.
― And why the hell do you want to be alone with me?
― To talk about what no one should hear, obviously.
Peeking into his eyes, Gabriel realized that Milles really cared that someone could hear the secret conversation. His behaviour was strange, yet that alpha was strange in itself.
The question was... what did Milles want to know so badly? He didn't expect him to have anything that would interest him. Impatient, Gabriel gave up resisting, relaxing in the armchair.
― Okay, what do you want to know?
Opening a childish smile, Milles sat on his side to whisper to Gabriel.
― Why did you stay with Theodore?
― You told me to draw my own conclusions about what it was like to be with another guy.
― I know, but why him?
― And would there be someone else for that? I don't get along with the captain either, you know that.
Becoming to settle in the armchair when the bus engine started, Milles tried to keep his voice low even with the noise of the other players in the seats ahead.
— I always warned you about your closeness to that guy. I told you several times that it would be dangerous and yet you wanted to be his friend. But after what we talked about on Friday, I'm thinking you're actually in love with Theodore.
Gabriel swallowed hard without responding.
In fact, people warned him not to stay close to Theodore. Not only were Milles, but Sadie and Nicolas also did. It was out of sheer stubbornness on his part that he stood beside the blond, for he needed to stay there. He needed to have that omega on his side.
― I've never been with a guy before, and much less have I ever been in love with someone to know what it's like.
― Never is? Tells another. Must have passed your heat with several girls, and never been in love by them?
Speaking that way, Gabriel felt a hint of guilt in his chest. It was one thing to be taken by instincts and want to dominate the body of someone who exudes a formidable smell. Another would be the intertwined instincts and feelings strongly desiring someone. This last scenario Gabriel never experienced.
― It's different with Theodore.
― So you asked to stay with him because you wanted to, and not to ask any questions.
Gabriel nodded, sighing low admitting that desire.
― For him, I did it out of mere curiosity because of what happened to you.
― And you still have the nerve to say you don't know what it's like to be into another guy? Get real, Gabriel!
— All right, since you're used to calling the captain like that, let's assume I'm into Theodore and want to make him... as you say? Oh yes, my wife... What would you do since you're my friend?
The dark eyes Milles stared at Gabriel's as if looking for some answer. It wouldn't rush him to answer him, it could wait as long as it was sincere. To show his determination to know the answer, Gabriel supported his friend's gaze.
He really wanted to know the answer.
How far would Milles be giving you sincerity?
Sighing heavy, the alpha blonde settled in the armchair getting serious even too. Arching his eyebrow, Gabriel imagined that some battle was being fought on his friend's head.
― I'd ask you a lot of questions.
Surprised by the answer, Gabriel crossed his arms.
― Like for example...?
― If you ever felt that he was your soul mate, and so you want to brand him.
This time it was Gabriel who was speechless. Petrified in the chair.
Soulmate was an indestructible bond that few couples found, as it was difficult to discover that a person would share fate with you. The hybrids were too eager to heal their fleshly desires, resulting in biting the person they thought they loved.
They weren't always their soul mates.
Few who met their peers could describe the sensation of discovery. Would it be an ecstasy? Would time take care of showing? Was there any divine sign of the universe?
That's why Gabriel was so surprised by that answer.
― Wait... don't tell me you think... with the captain...
― It's the only justification I can find for my deplorable situation.
― Deplorable? What could be deplorable for you to think the captain is your soul mate?
Moistening his lips with his tongue, Milles closed his fingers in fist again approaching Gabriel to whisper to him.
— Desire. ― Promptly answered the alpha. ― Every night, burning with desire. If you had the courage to draw your own conclusions with Tchan's blonde, then I'll do it my way.
― What would it be...?
― The captain does not escape me.
The conversation did not last long as the players noticed the absence of the blonde alpha and soon pulled him into the mess. They celebrated singing and playing games trying to relieve the nervousness of the first games. But for those two alphas it would be the necessary uproar to push the fancy thoughts they had.
Yet Gabriel had been thoughtful.
He never considered finding his soul mate because he believed he didn't have one. However, from the day he arrived in that small town and received help from his saviour, he felt different. The world was bright, the colours were bright and every day was precious.
Even though he stayed with Sadie at the party, her kiss was incomparable to Theodore's. Both were omega, but the blonde left him in need of more. And just remembering every touch they ever exchanged, although few of them were intimate, Gabriel's body had reacted explosively.
Is that the sign that Theodore was your soul mate?
