Chapter 49 - Atmosphere hot in the court

He had woken up from his daydreams when the shout from the stands was loud enough. The group of girls who used to cheer for Milles did not miss the appointment and celebrated the first point made by the team.

When Theodore had paid attention to what was really happening on the court, he had swallowed hard. The three figures that made the team strong looked covered by scorching flames. It would be expected of Nicolas, after all he would still be angry for what had happened earlier, but those two alphas? It was very strange.

The strangest thing was still the looks of those three on him. Once again would he expect this from Nicolas, and even from Gabriel, but from Milles? Oh heavens, what had happened to the world?

Turning his head in disguise, Theodore searched for his friend in the front row of the stands, widening his clear eyes in a cry for help. The poor girl seemed surprised when she swung her shoulders in a sad smile without being able to do much there.

Okay, he was alone for now. He have to face those smoky eyes filled with rage.

— I'm thinking that our captain will need an urgent nap after lunch. ― Whispered the coach to his assistant. ― Although he looks good when he plays... Oh, what a mess.

― Professor, admit you want to leave your captain like this just to win.

― But of course, look at those skinny guys, trembling with fear. We're all in today.

― If Nico goes to sleep, he's gonna lose all that angry.

― That's what I think... But it would be right.... How could we stimulate our captain in the right dose?

Theodore sighed accompanied by his physical education teacher. After the game was over, Nicolas would probably feel so tired that it would be necessary to sleep. But there was the second game that would also decide the next phase of the qualifiers. In no way should the captain play with less excitement than the first match, the opposing team would take advantage of this.

Taking advantage of the other team's moment of withdrawal, Theodore looked at the other court behind him, where the team that would play in the afternoon beat his opponent on a large scale. The difference in points was great even in the first set.

― They're good... ah... their assistant is watching our game.

With the comment of omega the teacher turned quickly to find the subject who did not care to hide his presence. A boy with glasses and cold eyes watched taking notes, not caring about being brazen.

— Oh what the fuck... You know what? Whatever God wants. In the second set I'll leave Howard in reserve and you put him to sleep. What do you think about Jones getting up to Mckenzie and Thunder?

Theodore had made a face at the difficulty in accomplishing that task. Your friend would probably be very willing to argue with him instead of resting.

But the good of the team was greater at that time.

― All right... I think it can work, Gabriel can adapt well to the attackers of our team.

― That's what I thought.

Receiving taps from the coach, Theodore again attended the match. He had to swallow dry when his team got more points thanks to that scorching atmosphere. Nicolas crossed the curved court behind Milles, hiding his presence from the opposing team, jumping while Gabriel lifted the ball towards him. The cut on the ball pierced the block of the other team, having a stormy reception ensuring another point.

Getting three points away from the other team, the first set soon ended with the whistle. The players left the court sitting on the chairs to drink the water distributed by the coach next to the towels. Unlike the other times, Nicolas had not sat next to his best friend.

Ah, surely his fury was immense, Theodore thought. Resting his elbows on his legs, the omega had soon had to fend off that worry when the sweat of the athletes began to snake in the air.

The mixture of odors was definitely cloying for omega. Even having taken his pill suppressor before leaving home, he could not help but feel bad about the smell of mixed betas and alphas. It was horrible.

Covering his nose with his fingers, the omega turned its face in a failed attempt to escape from that ocean of odors. The smell of an alpha was able to numb an omega, while a beta would result in a softer seduction. Mixing odors was like causing a conflict within an omega. Certainly the smell of alpha should be stronger, but Theodore was close to a predominantly beta team.

Oh heavens, he was starting to sweat and your vision was about to get blurry. Your instincts had no idea what odor to react to.

Why would that be happening to him? The year before he didn't feel that way. His pills had taken care of it, he had been quiet all day able to keep up with his team. So why did they lose their effect now?

Closing his hazed eyes, Theodore tried to calm down. His heart was racing, and the fear that his own scent would begin to escape made him fearful.

Feeling a movement beside him, Theodore had not dared to move. Pulling the air into his lungs, he felt a predominant odor around him. A smell that had been able to drive away the mixture so odious.

Turning his head when he recognized, his clear eyes widened to notice Gabriel sitting next to him wiping the sweat with the white towel.

― Gabriel?

The alpha had looked at him seriously, as if he were still trapped in that fiery atmosphere of the court. The omega had even been afraid to speak to him.

― I'm getting some rest, don't you mind?

― No, of course not.

Would he be mad at him? A rather curious reaction. But he should thank him later, since his presence had brought calm to his instincts. Theodore had taken a deep breath giving light slaps on his chest, appeasing all the hurricane that had arisen suddenly.

The two were unable to talk, especially when Nicolas approached with a scowl and sat on the other side of Theodore. The arrival of the captain caused the departure of Gabriel, to the sadness of the omega, who wanted to talk a little more.

But it would have to wait, since Nicolas snorted from his side as he always did when things did not go according to plan.

― Are you going to sleep now?

― Do you think I'm sleepy? ― Answered the little guy drinking his water before turning his angry eyes to his friend ― And the brat?

Just as he had imagined, his friend would not sleep until he understood what the hell was happening to Lilian. Theodore sat on the chair crossing his arms trying to find a way out of that alley.

― She's with her friends watching the matches.

― Tell me what I want to know, Theodore.

― I told you, you didn't believe me. She asked me to participate in the contest.

― I feel there's something else in that story...

Theodore smiled slightly lowering his eyes to his hands on his lap. How long had they known each other? Of course Nicolas would know that there's a lot being omitted, and that he wouldn't like to be kept out. He would do the same in his place.

But if he did, your friend would be mad at him and Gabriel. No... at that moment Nicolas should rest.

Then an idea came into Theodore's head.

― I'll tell you after you wake up. I don't want to get scolded by the teacher if I don't make you sleep now.

Sighing, Nicolas relaxed his shoulders seeming to give up arguing.

― Will you promise to be honest with me?

― I will answer all your questions, I promise.

Receiving a caress in his hair, Nicolas settled on the bench laying his head on Theodore's lap. The omega pulled out his friend's purse to take from his a hoodie, throwing him to cover Nicolas. Caressing his hair gently the way he liked, he waited for his friend to fall asleep as expected.

Once he had accomplished his task of calming the little demon, and the call to the second set had taken place, Theodore had again observed the court. To his surprise, the hot and furious atmosphere had not dispersed even with the absence of the captain.

To the happiness of the coach, Gabriel had played perfectly with the other athletes. Especially with Milles, as if the two were synchronized their feelings. The first points secured an advantage over the other team. And to Theodore's surprise, who had cast a deadly glance at him outside Milles.

Strange.

Milles used to be someone who celebrated his victories along with his fans. However, he kept his face closed and his angry gaze toward him. Now, what animal would have bitten him?

Sometimes the omega looked at his lap, noting that his friend continued to sleep regardless of the noise around him. Watching Nicolas sleep, the blond remembered that Milles had earlier taken his friend to the court.

At that moment he was already angry.

― Looks like a jealous boyfriend. ― Thought high omega.

Crossing his arms as he watched the match, Theodore slowly calmed down. Unlike before where there was a lot of nervousness about the match, that pair had created a distance in the score that determined their victory.

The coach screamed begging his blockers to keep the team's defense to prevent the opponent from scoring. Some verbiage escaped from the teacher's mouth, but Milles made sure to recover the score with his strong cuts. And of course, while always looking towards Theodore.

Minutes later the match was over. The victory of his school team was declared and the players jumped from side to side celebrating. Theodore was relieved that the first challenge of the day had guaranteed good results, but the worst would be in the afternoon.

Watching the players pick up their bags to leave the court, Theodore lowered his eyes preparing to wake his friend. In theory he should let him sleep until he wakes up alone, because his mood would be calmer, but they would need to get out of there...

Scratching his head about to make a decision, Theodore noticed a pair of sports shoes stop in front of him. Raising his head slowly surprised to see Milles facing his captain.

― Ham...

― I'll take him.

Contesting would be pointless when Milles took Nicolas in his arms with ease, leaving a blond omega gaping. The Alpha had turned his back on him, following the team off the court naturally. Blinking a few times, Theodore took his bag and Nicolas's to follow his group further, still wondering what would make that alpha carry his enemy in his arms.

Being prepared to follow the team outwards, a strong hand had firmly held the omega pulse guiding it to another opposite path. Not understanding why his feet followed, Theodore was run into the crowd that longed to leave the gym. In front of him he found the tall man wearing the black uniform with gold details, which had a wide back like a great wall.

Numb by the sudden call, Theodore realized that the alpha would be guiding him to the locker room corridor, which would also be full of people. He wanted to call his name and ask what he was doing, but that dark-haired man had not dared to look at him. Just pulled by the wrist crossing the crowd until they were alone in a corner.

Being pushed against the wall, Theodore looked around without knowing exactly where they would be thanks to the meager lighting. Although he tried to understand the situation he was in, his attention was stolen when Gabriel cornered him staring menacingly.

― What... What are you doing, Gabriel?

Gabriel did not give him a gentle smile, nor would he be talking to him as he always did. In place of his shining brown eyes, there was a chilling darkness. Absent chivalry was occupied by an alpha dominator who approached his prey menacingly.

Its scent had enveloped Theodore, having the immediate effect of making the blond omega his hostage. The legs lost their strength to escape, the heart was racing intensely causing the sweet aroma to escape gently.

And then, without yet providing any justification for his actions, Gabriel kissed Theodore.
