Chapter 3 - 3. Dug out

"What even is it, when the society dictates who we are and whom should we be with? Trapped by the weights of decisions imposed by others, we can't let our life slip away, it's our damn fucking life"

Thumping heart beats kept echoing as the sharp words wounded both the hearts whose destiny is dancing in tangles.

The sound of footsteps walking away, as hearts went numb threw them back to the time… back to the days when they were happy, nahhh they were never happy without one another. So just to the days when they were strangers, absolute strangers, or even they not?

Who knows? Neither you, nor they, so why not we ride back along with them??

"How's it going bud?"

"Amazing, trust me Willy, when I say amazing it indeed is. Ten hours it is and not a moment of turbulence, I am loving this" his voice gave in all the enthusiasm.

"Yeah yeah keep enjoying, while I'll sit here getting my ass roasted" William snickered.

"Oww oww my bud, don't worry I'll pay you back for all the roasting sessions you have been taking up lately for my abrupt absence, tell me what do you want? Spanish or Asian?" he broke into splits, pulling his best bud's leg.

"Think that if I stay alive by the time you return, people are sitting on my neck, leave them. What am I supposed to answer your parents and their unending questions about your family reputation?" hissed William.

"Ohh damn their reputation, I can't cage all my life carrying their fucking legacy" his shrieks caught the attention of all the passengers and within no time the perfectly dressed air hostess ran to him.

Tapping lightly over his shoulders, the air hostess tried to alert him about the disturbance he's causing to his fellow passengers, without any idea for what's in store for her.

"Sir, please keep your voice low, you are disturbing others" she added with a sweet yet polite smile, maintaining the etiquettes of cabin crew.

"Let them bear, my whole life had been disturbed; ain't I bearing it silently?" he screamed on the top of his voice.

Hearing the screams, the fellow crew members rushed to the seats, to reprimand the person for his behaviour but all they did was shrieking loud in surprise and shock combined.

"Aaron Carlington" the shriek from the crew members was enough for Aaron to get that he has removed the mask he was donning to conceal his identity in frustration.

'Shit…' hissing to himself he plastered the fake smile he marvelled in giving as the same passengers who were irritated by his presence until then, now started rushing to the spot for selfies.

"Willy, I'll call you back after landing" Aaron disconnected the call without hearing what William is complaining about, as the mob already started going gaga.

"You were just marvellous as a blind one in the Autumn Ends movie" the compliment from an aged lady who's waiting to get a picture with him, got a genuine smile on Aaron's face. He went ahead and got the picture clicked. However, his patience kept decreasing with every passing moment.

All he wanted was to escape all of this for just a few days, he wanted to live as a free bird without getting caught by the paparazzi giving them some spicy info just to publish random blind articles. He was exhausted with the star image he's trying hard to carry along and the so called legacy of Carlington family, which the whole world along with his family thinks he needs to take ahead.

He badly wanted a break, which was not feasible taking into consideration the commitments he has, but never signed up for. Having no option left he relied on his best bud William, who also looks after his shooting schedules and abruptly escaped from the shooting spot, though he knew it was against the work ethics and he had to hear an earful from his parents.

Unlike the whole world he felt a bit thankful for the Covid to have brought the masks, which helped him conceal identity all along, to his luck the checking officer is a fan of Christopher Johnson, whom the paparazzi believes is his arch rival; and there lies always a competition between them right from the movie selection to the box office numbers.

Nevertheless, Aaron never cared for any such. Afterall he never wanted to do what he's doing right now.

"We are elated to have you here" the cabin crew presented him some goodies and a bouquet, accepting that with a smile he looked around trying to find an escape and he saw almost everyone on the plane waiting to get a picture with him.

Posing for the selfies in various angels, Aaron's eyes caught the glimpse of the one in the exact seat next to him. Unlike the excited passengers, she moved no bone and is just looking outside the window without any fuss and that caught Aaron's interest. But even before he could get a clear glimpse of the lady, he was disturbed by the fans.

"This is Patrick your pilot speaking, it's the time for take of. Hence I request the passengers to get back to their seats and crew please help them in fastening the seat belts, please make it fast and we further wants no delay in reaching the destination" the pilots call alerted the passengers.

Though the cabin crew tried to do their duty, the passengers who still wanted pictures didn't move an inch.

"All of you will be getting pictures, once we arrive at the destination. So please be seated" Aaron gave his word, making up his mind to escape from the plane as soon as it lands.

As the passengers kept moving, flashing a brilliant smile the air hostess quizzed, "Why are you travelling in economy Mr.Carlington? Do you wish to have a seat upgrade?"

Though Aaron almost wanted to say an Yes considering the fact that he could exit early, the curiosity building up inside him for the person seated next to him, who didn't even move a bone until now made him say no and continue journey ahead to the destination, destiny is going to lead him.
